This conversation was very hard for me to sit with. I feel like Taryn’s push for pursuing religion again is to gain new friendships where Cammie is feeling like it would be disrespectful to be in that space without the beliefs. I’m sure there are feelings beyond what was shown in this pod epi but it feels wrong to me that Taryn keeps pushing that Cammie needs to do this with her. If T wants to go, GO! Make those friends and connections if that’s what you’re drawn to.
no i agree! people don’t need to “try” out religion if they don’t want to. there’s nothing wrong with that and taryn is kind of making it seem like maybe cammie will be missing out on something which is weird. even the whole boxing example ( people know themselves well enough to say what they like and don’t like even if they haven’t tried it).
Loved hearing you two chat this through! Loved that you both heard each other out! I’m more aligned with Cam in this case but interesting to hear another perspective.
I’m totally with Cammie. I’m agnostic as well and don’t mind learning but I don’t have any desire to be religious and don’t have anything inside me that feels the need for it. I felt Taryn was a bit offended and cammie was explaining herself well. I need to know what makes Taryn feel the need for that kind of community? I know so many churches and religions that do not want gay people in their community or they might act like it at first just to convert you and “change” you. Anyhow…..
as a queer person and seeing how those christians are attacking the community i will never want to be associated with people like that there’s progressive places and if it’s what you want try those, maybe?
26:21 taryn, you cannot at all compare “i’ve never boxed before so i’m never going to a boxing class” to going to church/religion. stop trying to coerce cammie into your religious beliefs/ideas. she’s not religious, and that’s fine. she doesn’t “have to” change her mind about it. especially considering the fact that she’s a lesbian - i’m a lesbian too, and i don’t feel comfortable with religion either.
IM SO EXCITED FOR THE TIMING OF THIS EPISODE my favorite thing is usually doing my laundry or regular mundane tasks listening to the eppy but I’ve got a bunch of furniture to build in my room and now I’ve got a fresh pod for the background 🙏🏻
CAMMIE YOU made me laugh so bad at the derealization/disassociating jokes ("i'm not crying SHE'S CRYING LMFAO), but in all seriousness i completely experience what you just said almost weekly as well. it's weird because i've never heard it said in words, and coming from you, someone i've looked up to for years now - i feel much more comfortable and not alone in it. so thank u ! it's common, i think. idk maybe i have adhd as well who knows, but it is common enough and i don't think it's THAT bad of a thing, like u said. but idk. it's scary sometimes eek. love you
haha i love that we are both like it's fine and normal...i think, right? but in all seriousness i think things feel scary when they feel unknown or like you're the only one experiencing them so it's nice to hear others experience it too! -c
Totally just started the pod, but wanted to say how much of a sign this feels like that this is the theme this week considering my partner and I tried a new church this weekend with intent to maybe return… and it was very terrible and almost defeating. So this feels like a sign to maybe not give up? Anywho thank you for always being real sweet gals 💕
49:56 also, again taryn, what’s up with you and always wanting cammie to “build a boyfriend if you HAD to have one”? she’s lesbian, you’re being extremely creepy and disrespectful.
From my experience this will forever be a hot topic in the relationship my ex was similar to Cam and we never saw eye to eye on religion but my now wife we were both raised Christian and bond over it we don’t go to church but pray together and share faith
This is such a coincidence!! Hearing you talk about the community part of religion really speaks to me as I myself am not religious but love the idea of having community. And no joke I just stumbled upon an interesting video on youtube- CBS Morning's video just a couple weeks ago called "Non-believers seeking community without religion". It's so great, you guys should give the video a listen. It shows this group called Sunday Assembly, literally in LA- they're singing together, creating fellowship, etc. I see this being so cute for you guys
we talk about this together all the time! our generation is really missing community if you dont want church. even with so many people moving away from office work and working from home it's hard to find. will definitely watch!
The ending is hilarious!!! 😂 I’ve always been a gassy girl myself Taryn (champion in my Louisiana family) and could control and walk away but what fun is that haha. For the religion discussion, 100% agree with Cammie on this one! Everything she said is exactly how I view it! I am not a fan of people pushing religion on others…although I think you both handled it with grace and each gave a good perspective!
Why the build a boyfriend? And what do you mean that’s where her eyes go. Maybe she admires athletes but never would see them in that way…. This episode 😢
For the whole religion discussion, may I suggest a philosophy book club? You could learn about a lot of different viewpoints while not making you gals uncomfortable by entering someone else's place of worship?
Yaaassss I kissed a girl. You gotta listen to post season interviews to get the real tea! There is a lot of extra drama going on behind the scenes at the end. It helps explain a lot of the last episode decisions too.
@@stayinguppod Eva and Amy were on the Saving Grace Pod! I’ll link it below and won’t give away spoilers but there was more tea than these showed for sure! ruclips.net/video/MXYdO5T_nCA/видео.htmlsi=HRAFuAEiFKahhOfC
y’all should look into unitarian universalist churches! they’re open to all beliefs, a lot of non religious people go to them and they still give you that community taryn was talking
It’s as if ur trying to make Taryn spiral abt this ahah- I don’t think she meant it in a malicious way, I think she just meant Cam is not open to going to a religious place. Which they spoke through :)
Jews actually dont try to convert ppl. Its a big responsibility to convert and we only want ppl to do it if they r very sincere avout that choice. My father in law and brother in law arent jewish and they have been welcomed at our orthodox synagogue when they have joined us. I think taryn would love participating in shabbat and temple and classes

Cam's ADD spiraling and dissociating is me and I just cried laughing watching that part of this ep lolol
the entire "im not crying, SHE'S crying" part had me dying
yall are hilarious
i have lost it - c

Longing for meaning. We're all wired for it. We all have a God-shaped hole in our heart, only the Highest Good himself can fill it.
@@Lerian_V not true at all. Maybe for you, but you can’t speak for everyone.
@@brandybird3954 I can speak for everyone because it's the truth. Truth about human nature is universal.

Spotify listener! Decided to watch on RUclips this morning (-:
disassociating is not always spooky. it very often feels like nothing.
Cammie is right Taryn, you may win her over without a word. By your actions.
This is so odd to me. Taryn literally said all her church friends stopped talking to her but wants to go back for community. Just find a new hobby
I have only even seen one movie from Adam Sandler that I like, 50 First Dates. But the fact that I love that movie has NOTHING to do with him.
55 lmao scratch it immediately 😂😂
TARYN "IM A LOSER, IM A PIECE OFS HIT" HAS ME HOWLING

I’m just going to say, you might have lost some of your older PPs at 59:51
Bro, why, with the harsh Facebook opinion?
just didnt realize people still actively used it that's all!
Legit cutest couple ever ❤❤❤❤❤
I hate religion lol especially as a lesbian. Also, maybe I'm too old but I've never seen high school musical. Lol
Same girl same!
Not Taryn implying Cammie is close minded because she doesn't wanna....go to church or fantasize about her ideal man. Weirdddddd.
It’s as if ur trying to make Taryn spiral abt this ahah- I don’t think she meant it in a malicious way, I think she just meant Cam is not open to going to a religious place. Which they spoke through :)
Bad take Toot
Yeah I was not a fan of that.
Did Cammie actually say GD referencing old songs ? Or did someone put that in??
Cam- would you ever go to a Unitarian Universalist church?
Why would she need to? She’s not religious and that should be respected.
Omg, I sometimes call my girlfriend Kelsi (the piano girl from High School Musical) because she is cute
