Totally agree with you! I've been reading some of the comments where they said he didn't have the best of voices. But I love it, I love the emotion you hear in the songs. He may not have what everyone thinks is the "perfect" voice. But there isn't anything wrong with the how pitchy it is. You can hear feeling and like you said rawness. he's literally calling out to his older self....that even tho he was dealing with SI/self harm issues, it was still a nostalgic time worth revisiting....loudly.
it's almost like this song is about half way between nostalgia, and the other half wanting to return to the glory days with a healthier mind......like reuniting with My Chem.
