    Thank you for this. I've been stuck in an OCD mind loop for two days, and the journaling tip and the tip to focus on God really helped ground me back to the present.

    Hi Maya! I came across your RUclips channel a while back and I absolutely love your videos! I wanted to say the dog is so adorable leaning into you and being near you while you are doing your Yoga haha! I actually haven't done any Yoga in 5 years but today I just took a Yoga class and it was really great getting back to it!

    I’ve only just started this video but wanted to share because this part, 0:18, inspired me and I really wanted to share this with you (and whoever is brave enough to read my wordiness 😅) I LOVE taking time away from my apps and even phone in general. Cell ohones are a huge part of our lives nowadays it can be so hard to get a break from the stuff on a device you use all the time, so I LOVE the idea of hiding the distracting/distressing stuff away. Personally though moving my apps isn’t a great deterrent (I already have them off my main screen). What distracts me/stresses me out (depending on, what it is) it’s the notifications that ultimately distracts me since it completely bypasses finding the app, AND I see it even BEFORE I unlock my phone. For work I unfortunately need my phone around and ready to send texts or calls or emails, so I can’t always hide it away or turn it off like I used to (for people who don’t need their phone for anything important, highly recommend, it’s very freeing) however instead of moving my apps around I turn on FOCUS MODE/Do not disturb! iOs/iphones (and I think androids, I know at least Samsung’s at least have a “do not disturb” function you can at least somewhat customize) have this and I LOVE IT, and would like to suggest it as an alternative/upgraded version for you Maya 😊 or ANYONE else who wants the functionality of their phone but to also reset away from distracting apps and notifications!
    Focus mode on ios can be found in settings AND the control center (easy toggle on and off). They have a few preset ones (sleep, work, personal) but you can ADD your own as well. The reason I like apple’s one so much is because when you set it up, you can customize what you see on your screens, and what notifications you get. SO if you can make a reset mode that will ACTUALLY HIDE the apps you don’t want to see, and only show the ones you DO want access to (maybe music or reading apps), you can customize the background (cute pictures of doggos?)lighting, etc to fit the vibe or aesthetic you want in that mode, and my favorite part, you can custom the notifications that you do receive, INCLUDING WHO can text and call you. Example my personal mode mutes all work notifications and contacts, and I will only be notified if my family contacts me, but I still get other notifications. I also use the work focus mode to ensure my personal app notifications (i.e. social media) don’t come up during work and become distracting to me or my clients (I work with kids)), it also mutes all messages and calls from anyone thats not work related or family. I’ll probably be editing a home-screen pages set for it that’ll have only the apps I need at work as well. You can set time limits for them (they have presets for “all day” or “only 1 hour”)or even have them turn on and off based on location (say you want work stuff to be ignored while at home) personally I don’t use these as it’s sporadic when I want/feel like I need breaks, and want to be able to fully acknowledge when “I need this break” and when “I’m ready to deal with this now”. I like to turn them on and off myself. Android has a similar “do not disturb mode” that at least silences certain notifications and calls.
    I know the focus mode may not be for everyone, and not everyone can/wants to go setting it up, but once it’s set up it’s SO useful. I love how customizable it is and I can at the touch of a button, have my screens and notifications set up for what I need in that moment, wether that’s a break from work, a break from people, or, break from the overall world, but it still allows me the functions of my phone I need or want around (reading, health apps, personal development stuff etc). So maybe not for everyone, but certainly worth looking into 😊 Ok ted talk over, gonna finish your video even though I know I’m gonna love it 😄

    How do you get your housesitting jobs? I've been looking into various housesitting websites to see if it would be an option for me to start doing as well, so I'm curious if you belong to a website group or if you find your housesitting jobs some other way.

    You say you walk to de-stress…but then you talk about making sure your walks are “productive” by listening to various things. Mmmmmm….seems like you are getting the two goals mixed-up. 🤔

    • @mayaleex3
      @mayaleex3  Год назад

      Hahaha I can see how that’s confusing! I guess it’s a less stressful way to be productive because I just have to listen while walking - no strenuous workout or deep focus needed - it’s more passive :)
