Nokia had produced boots for decades before it branched out to electronics. 2. Head gear: - Pipo = a knited, preferably woollen beanie. It is very useful duing winter. 3. Insects: - Mosquitoes. Finnish nosqutioes do not carry any diseases harmful to humans. They are very abundant around lakes and on marshes during summer. They can even block the view..when tthey are looking for a meal. The bites are itchy and will keep you awake.at night. A repellant spray or candle is usually enough for a casual evening barbeque. If you are going to hike in the marshes of Lapland during the summer, you should consider coveering yourself from head to toe and wear a hat with a net protectting your face and neck - Ticks. They can carry two different infecious disease. 20% of Finnish ticks carry the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. It can cause borreliosis, also called Lyme's disease. The second disease is TBE= tick borne encephalitis. It is most prevalent in the Baltic Sea archipelagoes and on the coast plus near the South Eastern border. The best protection is to wear long pants and sleeves when walking in the meadows during summer and check the skin every nigh. Many Finns living in the risk area buy the TBE vaccine. Health care professionals are familiar with both of these two diseases and trained to treat them. 4. I hope yout stay in Finland is pleasurable.
