When Phil sings “take the pain away” dimebags riff goes from minor key to major key. I think that is fuckin phenomenal writing.
While not the same per se, for master of puppets by Metallica, the clean ballad sounding section is supposed to be the high that the addict receives to take them away from the chaos of the rest of the song. Same principle here
A huge amount of respect people have for Pantera is that as they put out more albums they didnt get more radio friendly like so many other bands. Instead they got darker, heavier and less commercial.
Laighing in Reinventing the Steel
I can't like this comment. It's already at 101!!
Suicide note part 1 and 2 is honostly my favourite pantera song. Handles the concept of depression and suicide really well, the 1st half being very empty and melancholic sounding, then part 2 completely turns 180 and brings out the more "standing on the ledge" side, being manic and animalistic, like someone who isnt thinking clearly, feeling the pure adrenaline from being on the verge of suicide, that flight or flight feeling deep in your gut as you tell yourself "this is where i end it all"
Agreed
Suicide Part II is hands down the best song on the album.
Exactly! Also, I love viewing the end portion of the song with somebody who is on the absolute brink of no return; then, all of a sudden, Dimebag brings it home with his grooviness to show that Suicide lost again 🤘🏽 It’s so poetic
@@brockbrumley2793"suicide lost again"...... bars
I did a presentation in school about this song. Over 20 years now, I'm getting old.
Woooooooooo, you're really cool) presentation about the PanterA song! You are generally cool!)
I am absolutely loving your bromance with Phil. Lol. I don’t know if you have ever considered doing an interview with him but he can be reached. That would be fire 🔥
Please do it!!!!!!
That would be so cool.
you should…. DO IT!!
(lower). DOOO IIIIT!!
(even lower) DOOOOO IIIIIIIIT!!
back in 96 this is how they started the concert. there was a huge curtain up with the snake xray on it during part 1 and the curtain dropped as part 2 started. absolutely filthy
I play part 2 whenever I need to get something done 😂
5:52 - “Nice and Mellow....” Ten seconds later and he’s head banging 😂
I absolutely love Phil’s screaming on part 2. Some people might think it’s a little excessive, but I’m into extreme metal so I love it.
Phil has brilliant range. He is an avid fan of death and black metal.
In my opinion Phil is the greatest metal vocalist. His range is amazing and absurd at the same time
I listen to pantera for their instrument work, but phil has some insanely good growling screams. Dimebag obviously kills it every damn song like always
Absolutely, besides it definitely deserves a free pass here considering the “I’m gonna fucking do it.” theme of the song
These two always need to be played together. I love how they’re both heavy - one lyrically (emotionally), the other, musically. The Great Southern Trendkill is my favorite PanterA album.
Mine too. Its just so uncompromising.
From the title track’s brutal intro…BLAAAAAUUUUGGGHHHH chuggachuggachuggachugga you know that album is gonna be a beast
Best Pantera reactions on RUclips!
Thanka so so much ... and thanks for watching 👀peace ✌
Agreed, you can tell he really respects the craft
Part 1 represents the deep depression side, when the thoughts are coming from a traumatic event in the person's life!!
Part 2 represents the stress, anxiety and panic of being in a manic meltdown. Feeling that nobody cares. Kind of like having a devil on your shoulder, whispering in your ear to "END IT ALL"
Great reaction!!! 🤘🤘🤘
CFH4EVA!!
This album is legendary and is my personal favorite. So sad that my generation (Gen Z) knows nothing of real music
@@rowdy5.9L ye for real gen z kind of sucks. I’m 15 and everyone ik likes the rap or pop country bullshit
@@bruhroyale12123 yea same brotha. I'm a 90s metal guy and a classic country kinda guy. It's what I was raised on and I'll never change.
@@rowdy5.9L if music in your taste was still alive i think you and i would would be living a better life. music today has 0 skill or feel at all. pantera was both strength and emotion with a big fist full of talent.
Bro I’m a trucker and anytime I’m stuck in traffic I just blast Pantera and open my windows just so I can piss off other drivers. Metalhead for life 🤘🤘🤘
Ohhh shit. Bringing out the emotional side of Pantera!
Funny thing considering all of Phils lyrics are pretty personal and emotional. Just because he sings the way he does most of the time doesn't mean his lyrics aren't emotional and impactful.
strange comment. pantera is emotional through and through.
Suicide note pt 1 such a powerful song. Imagine the first part being your life flashing before your eyes and the singing being an angel taking you to the beyond.
These songs are brutal. Shit will have you thinking differently, the first one is harder for me to listen to because it hits me way harder
same dude the first one is basicly sinks in to core of my body i feel it in my soul. But i found Dime man i started to play like 5 hours a day just to learn guitar.
Your Pantera reactions are brilliant, keep em comin 😀
These two songs actually saved me years ago, I lost my brother who was killed overseas in Afghanistan and went through a period of rage and depression. Also had been a serious substance user at the time. Still here though. Twelve years clean.🤘
Sooo been a fan of Pantera since 1990. I LOVE it when we all can come together and recognize good music... I was pissed off (real shit) till I saw your reaction and you pulled me out bro. So you got a sub stay real and look forward to more.. getcha pull bro. Rip Dime Rip Vince 😭🙏
WOOOOO! Is right! When part 2 kicks in, it’s awesome enough but when it drops into that groove, it just puts a smile on your face.
I saw this concert with White Zombie. Was freaking insane
1996?
@@leviratliff2635 Yes sir. In Cleveland
@@kingjames1308 Hell yes! I went to the Dayton Ohio show. I was 14 years old and I still have the ticket stub. Eye Hate God, Deftones, White Zombie, Pantera
Levi Ratliff nice! We were on the pit fence and jumped over when the lights went out when Pantera opened. They opened with suicide note 1. I busted my lip on my friends head when we jumped and moshed with blood all over my face. Kind of disgusting when i think back on it lol
@@kingjames1308 Same man. They played the audio of Part 1, then a big curtain dropped and they went straight into part 2 live. The place erupted!
Getcha pull bro 🤘
My man Phil he said! Happiness. 😁
Suicide Note Pt. 1 -> Pt. 2 possibly best opening of any concert I’ve ever seen. Top 2 for sure. And I’ve seen at lot of shows.
I remember scoring this album, driving back home with a car load of friends and daaaaamn...the opener was off the chain "The Great Southern Trendkill"...but by the time we got to these two tracks you could tell Phil was in a different place...he's no longer singing about confidence and power but dope! smh!
Addiction does that to you my friend
You got to do Pantera The Underground in America off the Same album
Into Sandblasted Skin
@@timk8499 now ur thinkin
Ain't heard nothing until you've heard Underground in America/Sandblasted Skin, from same album, heaviest shit I've ever heard still to this day.
Check out stress builds character by dystopia bro, you might be a little thrown off but thats some crazy heavy/sad shit lol
Nice reaction as always, in pt1 Phil vocally and the instrumentals really channeled their close friends Alice In Chains heavily, it is glorious, the 2 kings of the 90s and super close friends so it was awesome to hear them channeling the AIC vibes on pt 1. Pt2 is just so fuckin heavy and brutal, that shit is absolutely vintage pantera heaviness/aggressiveness/brutality
Absolutely one of the best balls to the fucking wall thrashing metal masterpieces of all time!!!!! C.F.H.
Yes! I remember hearing it for the first time. It blew my mind. Totally agree heavy as fuck! Masterpiece
I remember driving home from a bar the night before my bday a few years ago with both part 1 and part 2 on repeat. Ended up being visited by my late uncle in a dream.
He Gets It.
@ 6:55.....yep. Definitely part 2!
He said "nice n mellow" then got brutally ear f*cked haha love this
YES!!! MADE MY DAY!!! Gotta check out “Hardlines, Sunken Cheeks” next!
He said nice and mellow...
Me...🤣😂😄😜😁
This was my first CD when i was a teenager. Still to this day it is one of my most favourite albums ever.
👏👏👏👏👏 keep up the pantera reactions. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
the intro of this video is by far my favorite thing on the internet.
You're the only person I've seen doing The Great Southern Trend Kill!!!! Fuck yes
Can you listen to floods by pantera
Yes!!!!!
Haven't heard this in a long time. I needed this.
Can you react to Pantera I'll Cast A Shadow
YES.
its coming soon, we did that live
6:52 - Good guess, sire.
I have been waiting for this. Thanks Mike!
You bet!
Greaat reaction man !! I love it
Glad you enjoyed
Meshuggah / Future Breed Machine
Nirvana and Pearl Jam changed the game for mainstream rock, but for the underground stuff, it was Pantera and Biohazard. Those two bands pretty much dominated the 90's as far as the heavier stuff goes.
You kick ass! Keep em coming !
Really dig you man. Thanks for being cool
Love from Australia. Love your vids
Another great song of theirs from the treadmill album is 10's
Bruh dime has so many different little filthy break downs he could make whole parts of songs with but he’ll just throw them in the last fifteen seconds of a song lmao
Saw them do part two on this tour at Louisville gardens easily one of the better moments in my life
Try We'll meet again from Power metal, the glam Pantera, the solo is simply magic
Its more traditional heavy metal than glam.
Sounds more like Judas Priest or Accept or Dokken than like...more than Poison or Warrant.
instant subscribe and like because of that intro lmfao
My two fav Phil Anselmo stand outs
Suicide note 2
The Alcoholik
Сool channel design and visualization!
And then people say VDOP is a heavy album😏..
10s from them
Pantera the best band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos man! If haven't, check out Pantera - Psycho holiday - Moscow '91
Pantera faz parte do meu DNA 🤘🏿👏🏿👽
Part 1 was the setup. Part 2 is when it goes chaotic. Kinda like Part 1 is supposed to be more sad and depressing. And Part 2 is the "FUCK YOU!!! IM DOING IT!!!!" part.
lolol
"So.. that must be part two" lolol
7:13 😂😂. Exactly
1 and 2
not hard to tell which is which
You should react to time will not heal by the haunted sounds a lot like pantera
@Medicine Man I saw Gojira live at a festival and had never heard them before. They played Stranded and I looked at my buddy like “holy fuck these guys are legit, and they came from France?!”
Nice and mellow.. 😅

My buddy Elbert Bizzle went to Pantera with me. Yeah, I'm white and he's black.....fuck race, we had a great time!!! Only black dude there.....he got more respect than anyone at that show! (This was in 1998) 😎👊
Check out Pantera yesterday don't mean s**t
I am asking this because i am not from america. What do you think about dime's confederation guitar and phil's 'white power' comments. I am just curious
not until the 2010s did ppl actually get up in arms about Confederate flags. Phil's entire schtick with the white power shit is that every single perrson on this planet should not have pride and self confidence stripped from them ever. Phil is the type of guy to make sure the dude in the wheelchair in the crowd is safe. He's the type of guy to lift your chin for you and remind you how strong you are, against all odds and against all shallow social movements from the virtue worshippers
Dear RUclips, kill these stupid goddamn subtitles.
Part 1 is a country, somber tone, Part 2 is the SERIOUSLY twisteted version, Kinda like Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hide. if you will in a musical sence.
