It does mean "alas" in Chinese (both mandarin and cantonese). But it also is the Chinese equivalent of "oh no", though not used that way here. Though I don't think that "ai ya" should be used like this in the song XD, you're right.

I love your covers, even eight year after you uploaded them. I love the sound of a piano and find it calming and it helps me concentrate. When I tried to find piano covers of various Hetalia songs I couldn't find any with a decent sound quality... except for these. These are truly amazing.

+Italiana Manson are you referring to "ni hao ma"? that means "how are you" lol not hello ma.
"How are you" is the phrase for "hello" in Chinese. "Ni hao, ma?" does not mean hello ma. In a word-by-word translation, it means "You (Ni) Good (Hao)?" Or "Are you good?"
