[Golden Sun] Saturos & Menardi - Mia solo
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 май 2022
- This is a partly tool-assisted run in which I defeat all the bosses in Golden Sun with Mia only. See the restrictions, stats, and my thoughts about the fight below.
-- Rules and restrictions --
- Only Mia can be alive at any given time
- No Djinn can be on standby before the battle to prevent turn 1 summons
- No items may be used, including in-battle uses of equipment like rings
-- Tool-assistance --
This run makes use of something I've decided to call "RNG routing." Battles in Golden Sun can be very predictable with the use of savestates since only certain actions advance the RNG before you commit to an action. Thanks to this, it's possible to go through the fight and methodically write a turn by turn action list that will theoretically give you the same result every time you enter the battle on the same RNG seed (like when you load a savestate right before it.) This is a consequence of retrying fights quickly on emulator and rather than have it be a side effect I'd try to ignore I decided to embrace it as a tool I could use to make entertaining videos. If you're put off by this and would rather see a run that is played normally, I recommend looking up my Isaac solo.
It's also worth pointing out that even though I say the run is tool-assisted in some way, I'm still the one performing all the inputs in real time.

-- About the fight --
Another infamous fight, and rightfully so. Death Size is a constant threat and their array of strong Psynergies can take you for a spin. They thankfully also like to buff themselves which gives you some breathing room, but generally staying anywhere under half health carries an immediate risk of death if they decide to go all in.
This was an absolute pain to route because I had to do it twice. The pitfall of this approach to the game is that if you make a mistake at any point during the actual routing, either by writing down the wrong command or somehow shuffling the RNG, you can get a reliable result on the routing attempts when you're making savestates here and there to try out different actions on key turns but when it's time to, say, actually record the fight and you're just following the list it becomes all but impossible to figure out where you deviated, and exactly how you did so.
This fight and Fusion Dragon were originally routed back to back, meaning that whatever my HP, PP, and Djinn status was at the end of this fight, that would carry over into Fusion Dragon as it does during normal gameplay. As a result of the botched routing of this one, Mia will still start with reduced health and with some Djinn in recovery, but they won't correspond to what those values are at the end of this fight.

Seems like Mia was really pissed after Mercury Lighthouse was lit.
That's putting it lightly~.
