Well she's good on these movies but letterman is no longer on the late show (Stephen Colbert is the new guy) but hes on Netflix I like Michelle's work on star trek
Thank you for this upload! I never saw this segment. Michelle is of course beautiful and talented, but to see here charm and wit conveyed during a live interview is so awesome. She is so amazing!
It’s really fascinating that 25 years ago Michelle said someone was a male chauvinistic pig, and she got boos from the audience. it’s amazing the stuff she had to put up with. I’m glad that in no way that would ever happen today. she is one of the strong women who have paved the way for this.
C'mon, it was a joke. That would still get the same reaction today unless it is someone that is clearly a chauvinist. Try saying that about Tom Hanks and see what reactions you'll get.
@@swampcryptpretty sure they were booing her. jackie chan was clearly very popular back then, much more so than michelle and women “insulting” men was looked down upon obviously. cmon guys context clues
this is probably my second time watching this but I noticed how she how fearless and confident she was going along wth the jokes about riding on a motorcycle. mind you this was 25 years ago.
LOL Michelle is such an icon, she had the guts to call Jackie Chan a chauvinistic pig when it was not popular for actresses to be bold and direct on a late night tv show
So cool to see those old interviews. The class, the confidence and the charm this lady oozes ! I've always been in awe of her since my teens but now I'm completely in love (and I'm a woman).
I feel more and more people will notice Michelle Yeoh is already in our life for quiet a long time through movies .. She is still herself and she CAME BACK WITH AN OSCAR !!! 💃🏆
I dunno about being just a role model and ground breaking actress for Asians, she is an inspiration for all women, everywhere. The stunts, and sheer bravery of her early movies demonstrated a talent/grit that should not be confined to men, she is clever, sensitive, she knows exactly what is going on, she's nobody's fool, and, on top of that she has an on-screen presence that goes beyond simply being mind-numbingly attractive... her dancer training has given her a poise, posture, timing... everything to hold your attention when she's onscreen. At 60 she's no less of a star, she has more depth, and she brings a realism to roles that comes out of life's experiences. I saw her in Crouching Tiger... and I didn't know who she was. My bad. I never made the connection between the Bond Girl, and Star Trek Captain/Emperor... every role she he has she commands your attention. Criminally under used, but when you see her, you want her in every movie, everywhere, all at once...
after she won an oscar.. i started to look into other things she has done.. I was pretty impressed by her work on "Supercop" (1992). I can see her in Mission Impossible films.
Wow I forgot how amazing she looked! I remember at the time when Tomorrow Never Dies came out, the press were naming Teri Hatcher as the new Bond girl, but anyone watching the film would only give that title to Michelle Yeoh. Teri was just decoration.
@@sevengaming2179 Don't do that.. don't change what people say to make them look worse, what he did is despicable but always give the benefit of doubt.. he said "I have made a mistake that many men in the world make.” Chan writes, “I was selfish and didn't know how to empathize with others".. Maybe he learned and changed.. maybe he didn't.. but don't just assume..
Michelle Yeoh breaking stereotypes even back then not accepting being the victim, the poor damsel in distress, the submissive Asian, Hollywood never made her a leading woman in any movie, but she finally got the role of a lifetime and hit it out of the park.
remember guys, she was already a big action star in Asia (since the 90s) before this Bond movie. I'm not surprised she thought she'd play James Bond because if it was a movie made in Hong Kong she would have been James/Jamie Bond.
Interesting that she spoke about Chan being a chauvinist pig. His true personality really came out in these later years with him cheating on his wife and his strong support for mainland China's government.

Wow! This is way before the MeToo movement! She was already calling out Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan is the worst predator in HK film industry which is a well known fact in HK (with many photographic evidence in the press) but not necessarily known to the western world. Utmost respect for Michelle for being such a strong woman from Day 1. 🙏🏻💜
I watch HK movies since i am a child, and i've watched A LOT of interviews of people who worked with him. He is respected in the industry. Did he assaulted someone ? No. Did he hurt someone intentionally ? No. It is not because you see pictures of him with an other woman that it makes him the "worst predator of HK industry". She litterally said that they were friends. She did the speech when Jackie recieved his Oscar in 2016. If he was that bad, she wouldn't have done it.
In a way, she's the female version of Jackie Chan, because of how she learn Kung Fu only when she started as an actress, but if you see her early films, you'll be so impress and thought she learn from a very young age. The only difference is that she's definitely a much better person in real life than Jackie Chan.
