Its got the purity of being a very new song, i think sometimes by the time an artist records a song its a bit old and its hard to capture the roots of the emotions that they were expressing. I love hearing a song in its earliest form
Natalie Smith definitely is. It’s funny cause I play that song when I’m messing around or during little intermissions. It’s just a nice little thing to mess around with.
He was calling it see you later...both half right and see you later are mic city sons I believe....he must have written see you later after this, just based on having a title he wanted to use.
shanegarm no I think you can hear the guy say what was the last song you played and he responded with, “see you later”. He probably was playing new stuff for them and then she started taping it.
@@incessantmurkysmuggler He did play See You Later. I think this was from a Radio interview (we ended up hanging out with the kids from the station)....I don't remember what station it was though.... we did around early spring of 95. I had this tape, and I put it to digital, and onto Soundcloud about 8 years ago. It had this early version of half right, and see you later. I dont think he played any other songs that day. The station gave me the tape. I found it yrs later, and onto soundcloud. Someone found that, and put it up on you tube.
he says the song doesn't have a name. Correct e if i'm wrong but wasn't the whole Mary lou thing after heatmiser? This song had a name by that point right? did he just really dislike naming his songs?
He has such a beautiful speaking voice and laugh. God, this song sounds so incredible. Elliott you are so sorely missed. Rest In Peace lovely man.
This audio is so precious, wow
I love listening to his speaking voice. He sounds so young and innocent and real.

Such amazing version of this. This really is one of my favorite pieces of audio, for so any reasons.
I'm glad that this night he decided, "Alright, I'll play that new song."
So moving, we are so fortunate to have this recording. :)
Absolutely love his voice here. More than usual.
He was probly just in good mood. She's very charming
I listen to this practically everyday. 🙏
Capo... Elliott put on his rock strap
It sounds like he's sorta playing "folk song in c" at 1:22 haha

You can really here the complexity of the finger picking in that little clip
such a talented guitarist. criminally underrated
Beautiful
unbelievable
Wow amazing stuff
I got to have the recording of this song!
he sounds so young here. after around 1995, for some reason his voice in live performances sounded different
Probably alcohol smoking, drugs and maybe other aging or stuff
He made a conscious decision to change it. Softer, less grungy. This is according to one of his friends (Autumn de Wilde IIRC)
So many cool people in the world and been here Kurt Cobain Elliot Smith Mary Lou lord love these people they made life beautiful ❤️
Very cool, I love "new" Elliott stuff! Where was it recorded at? Thank You!
i'm guessing this was recorded around 95/96 at the latest judging by the way they refer to half right as a 'new' song, although i could be wrong.
You’re correct, this was during his last heatmiser album and his first solo stuff
Perfection

@@4LLT0G3TH3Ryes cause they were fooling around with the capo Mary got for him, being of the brand SHUBB. That was so funny

They met during or after the making of his self titled solo record in 1995, which was at the beginning of the making of Mic City Sons, I believe.

(message to myself)
Hope you’re doin well man
😊
Man can you imagine if Elliott and Kurt had gotten to collaborate!? 😮
