I believe that the point of the video is to show what graphics to expect at these settings rather than show the fps difference (it's literally in the name of the mode) (thought 0.1% low and 1% would be nice coz it'd show consistency)

The games use voxel global illumination this year, i noticed it playing with config file on pc, and i had already noticed looking illumination settings beetween low and above, low basically disable voxel and ray bounce, so it looks pretty much like wrc 10, medium and above use 2 rays and 3-5 bounce, with very high settings that increase voxel resolution and that sort of realistic hazy effect. This is the biggest leap of this game since kylotonn develop the game itself. Basically is real time illumination of old baked ps3 style illumination, is not too much different from a real ray traced one.
In many video is hard too notice on youtube, but on real life monitor with live gaming is just incredible how good this look this year, plus dlss finally fixed the orrible jaggies caused by bad taa the games used before.
I played this game yesterday on the ps5 and I was completely blown away by the graphics and sound. I played every WRC since part 7 and I expected the same thing for the visuals. Boy was I wrong, this one is much better. Also the driving is much more realistic, with a lot more understearing (like in real live) and you feel every part of the surface (the car responds on little snow puddles… and you can see the dirty snow puddles). The lighting in this game is incredible. Playing with a controller is bit trickier this time around, but I like it a lot. Try the Monte Carlo levels and you know what I mean. And shearing the livery’s online is also very cool. This game is a pleasant surprise.

I played more than 50h on WRC 9 which was awesome and I wanted to play the last WRC game from KT racing before they release another great game, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. Also curious to see what Codie can make of the WRC license. I've been playing the McRae and WRC games since the beginning (skipping some on the way). This WRC Generations looks like a great farewell.

Much improved shadow quality and depth. Gameplay looks similar, but the camera movement is noticeably better IMO

I played the 9, 10, and now the Generations, and this new one is definitely better. The asphalt gameplay on older versions was very hard, too grippy, the car felt stuck on the road, on the new game its a lot better.
is it now more comfortable to use gamepad than in wrc10?
To clarify, it seems they did add 120 and 144hz support as I was able to select and play at both settings on my gaming laptop 👏

Oh hell I just need to buy this ASAP.
I've just picked up WRC 10 on sale with all the DLC for about £15, there is not that much difference between the 2. If you alter the contrast and colour on your monitor you could get it looking the same. I've just ordered 4k gamer pro and plan to use it with the Mclassic to bump up the visuals on my ps4 pro. ( still can not find ps5 and starting not to care ).
There s a deluxe version of Wrc 10 for 19€. Did u try the game ? How good is it ?

Those SSR artifacts look awful in Generations. Hope they fix that. Blooms seems to be actually visible now.
Both very good. Just different tones. We have to conform with this type of changes in gaming for now on.
those tones are different because the finally updated the the shader system and added an actually a retaliate Voxel Bases Global Illumination thats leagues ahead of the traditional pre-backed lighting thats been used for the whole last generation. Its may looks similar at times but it makes a world of difference when light is accurately representing how it behaves in IRL to a degree. You left proper color bleeding from objects, the bounced light can fill a space so naturally, its crazy. Best Example and most extreme example of how RT Lighting look so damn real is from watching a MINECRAFT Video with Ray Tracing. Even with that basic blocky world, the lighting propagation and color bleeding is fucking orgasmic. Same can go for Reflections as an example. Last 10+ years games have used Screen Space Reflections that usually use Cubemaps, Spherical maps, or Probe Map, that take periodic snapshots of the environment and project that onto whatever a car or object. The amount of times those Snapshots are updated is usually at 30fps defualt but can go up to 60fps+, then with low, med, high settings it changes the resolutions of those snapshots to get sharper, clearer reflections, etc). Some Studios are creative enough with it to where it still can make that old method look amazing. Almost all games still use Screen Space Reflections and will continue because its way less performance killing than Ray-Traced Reflections that only 1% of PC players or less have the RTX Cards to use RT, but speaking of RT, its used for reflections now as well and if youve ever played a title with mealtime ray-traced reflections, it may look somewhat similar at a glance but its mind blowing. A good example wojuld be RT Reflections GTA5 Mod Video or CyberPunk2077 video with all the wet street and puddles perfectly reflecting everything unlike the static cube-maps dont capture much. BUt it I had to choose Ray Tracing for one thing its would be Lighting without a doubt.
Driving seems more fun in WRC 10. In Generations the car reacts very slowly like driving a boat.

The last clip looks so much cooler in WRC 10 than WRC Generations. For the rest of the clips, if you tell me it's the very same game, I would believe it.
It seems to be like a mix between WRC 9 and WRC 10
they added colors in WRC Generation at last. I like WRC7 because of this too.. WRC8-WRC10 looks lifeless
Idk who will admit 30fps gaming on ps5 nowadays(in racing!) ..Devs should work on engine optimisation and give 60 fps as a standard. Not this synthetic 30fps exaples noone will play with. Lets cook and compare 120fps picture with 24fps one. Why not
It’s strange. For me clearly some stages have been downgraded from WRC 10. Kenya in Generatuons just doesn’t have the tee variety of 10. In Sweden the small foliage in 10 isn’t in generations at all. 10 seems darker, but the lighting like from the crowd flares look better. Kenya looks bland in 10, but generations now looks like a video game. *shrugs shoulders

The screen space reflections look really bad here, like they're running at a low resolution or something. Possibly the worst I have seen since the original release of Resident Evil 2 Remake...
Will just stick with my wrc 10 for now, Will wait for down on the price on generations

What? "Generation" doesn't support 120Hz mode?! After driving WRC10 in 120Hz mode, I honestly can't go back to 60.
If you’re on pc , you do get 120hz and up support. Seems like they added that in just before official release. I can’t confirm for new Xbox or ps5 though
Who in their right mind plays 30fps in 4k. no matter what "k", 30 fps is abhorrent, and shouldn't even be allowed in gaming.
So far, no one has beaten DiRT Rally 2.0, the challenge and comfort speed of the graphics are still above DR2.0, it's just a lack of choice of racing vehicles. . . We are waiting for the newest DR2.0.
Difference is only of gamma correction between these two .

i like the game but the 300hz is like playing 75hz why is like that?> this game is for console only i play the wrc 10 on ps5 120hz it was so smooth but on my laptop with 300hz panel its like playing on 75hz 80 to 100+fps

Personally i like the WRC10 look. Generations looks very saturated.
I actually like the more washed brighter less saturated look of WRC 10. I wish that would be a simple color grade option in settings.
Because it's more realistic. Same is Dirt Rally vs Dirt Rally 2.0. I don't know why these devs make everything so saturated like I'm driving around forest of Pandora or something.

The trees still look ass, especially at 4:40. WRC10 also has better dirt (last clip) and better glass from the interior view - 3:53. Dirt Rally 2 still looks way better, but overall pretty good improvement

I'm glad they lost the license to codemasters for this reason.This game was turning into FIFA.A yearly release with small updates.

@@gaborszabo7765 WRC games have better road surface graphics, but the physics are much better in Dirt 2.0, as i drove real rally cars on real tracks.

Shame the game is buggy as hell. Wgeel support is awful. Over 50% od people with a wheel setup cant even play it.
The sound is muffled...
The motion support is awful as well. No pitch on motion platforms... So it feels like ur driving a pogo stick.
Worse driving gane I've played on in years.
Save some coin if u have a high end wheel and motion system since this thing runs like garbage on them. Dirt rally 2.0 does circles around it for higher end systems.
This game is a laptop keyboard game i guess.

DiRT2.0 still better in any way, starting from the audio. WRC cars are absent but there's a lot of other stuff to do 😂
edit: i'm not a fanboy i used to play wrc back in the days but it always felt sloppy and cheap, now they made some progress but i prefer DR2.0 or modded RBR instead of any wrc.
