    Seems like they should have a follow the remote control function. Wouldn't that be easier than using AI to recognize the target from a video?

    • @deekthetrucker5885
      @deekthetrucker5885 2 месяца назад

      No. Active track is fixed on a subject/person so if you want the drone to follow that subject you would need the subject to be carrying the remote all the time! So defeats the purpose of (Active Track) 🤷

    • @WilliamWen
      @WilliamWen 2 месяца назад +1

      @@deekthetrucker5885 wouldn't a motorcyclist just strap the remote to the tank bag? isn't that what people are doing anyway?

    • @Whatreally123
      @Whatreally123 2 месяца назад +3

      @@deekthetrucker5885 well they could add a feature to follow the remote. That and the current active track can both exist. As a motorcyclist, the Skydio implementation is the best.

  • @jjp95136
    @jjp95136 Год назад +13

    😊See if this helps. Draw the green box around the subject. Then move the drone slightly left and right until a place marker symbol appears inside the green box (in addition to the “x”). That means it is locked on the subject inside the box. Unless you see the additional place market symbol it usually is not locked on to the subject.

    • @JRidesTheWorld
      @JRidesTheWorld  Год назад +19

      i found the solution, you just need to open your arms right after you draw the box around you. The drone recognise you has a person so can effectively track you

      I am reading the latest manual. In Active Track 4.0 the max speed remains the same in Sport, Normal and Cine modes.

      because after that, it says:
      in Trace mode the max speeds is 10 m/s.
      They could have said the same in Active track mode, but there it says that speeds remain in the S-N-C modes . . . . ?

      Hi mate. trying to explain how it works even if it's not easy via text. This is what you need:
      1x curved gopro mount ( standard for helmets etc)
      1x handlebar gopro mount ( for motorcyle no push bikes)
      1x gopro sticker to attach to your drone remote.
      I hope this helps. A lot of people also uses the quadlock universal mount.

    Thank you, I found this video very very interesting and helpful. I've just bought a Mini 3 pro and haven't tried this feature yet. Have you tried this feature in sport mode? I could see you were on normal mode I think? I understand sport mode has no obstacle avoidance so I guess you did not want to try it in this location but maybe in this mode you could go a little faster? Cheers from Australia.

      Thanks Greg for the kind words, i did not test the active track in Sport mode, but i've seen another video on YT trying that and it doesn't really change much. Just a little bit faster. However, i finally tested the active mode properly in my last video (Rally Umbria) and it worked incredibly well! Check it out if you wish, epic follow mode drone shots are around 15min of the edit! I wish i could ride in Australia one day!

      @@JRidesTheWorld Thanks for your reply. I checked out your video(Rally Umbria) Great video and the tracking looks nice. Wonder why it was not working so well in the first video. Do you think its because it was more open terrain in (Rally Umbria)?

    Maximum flight speed of 57.6km/h accoriding to DJI, so realistically about 45km/h
    This means that you can't really go much faster than 40km/h with tracking which is pretty slow on a motorbike. Better for following a pushbike IMO

      Litchi is a app that let’s you fly waypoint missions and does the tracking by following the controller signal, so it follows even under the trees😉

    Not that I don't like active-track. Can do great things. But....GPS follow-me works much better on a bike. Pretty stupid DJI drones don't have it. Only with a 3th party app like Litchi of Maven. And those won't work (yet) with the Mini 3. So basically a Mini 2 is a better choice for now.

      Notice how I completely disappear behind the trees but it still follows.
      As important is a homepoint update option. You don't want having to race back.
      What the Fimi A3 doesn't do is point the camera at me when I use the sticks. My funny $135 L109 Pro does. So I can do fly-by's etc keeping me in the frame. I curious if that is possible with Litchi or Maven? Going into the settings is just a pain. You simply put the drone where you want and start follow-me.
      There aren't that many that do it right. Most only follow from behind which is useless. Can't see what it is doing.

    • @driewiel
      @driewiel Год назад

      @@JRidesTheWorld The Fimi A3 is amazingly accurate and responsive. I can have it fly half a meter in front of me and never crash into it at any speed.
      Last time I bought a C-Fly Faith Mini thinking the follow-me was good. But unfortunately it's total crap. I can't use the sticks. And it goes all wacky. Even flying it manually from my bike is a disaster. Because the best shots you actually get by flying it with the sticks. The follow-me feature is to keep the drone with you whether you are filming or not.
      People hardly ever use optical active-track in real life. It's a great feature don't get me wrong. But if you're on a bike tour or something follow-me is much quicker, much more user friendly. It's ridiculous DJI drones don't have it. Unless you use a third party app.

    • @driewiel
      @driewiel Год назад

      @@JRidesTheWorld I don't know if Maven already works with the DJI Mini 3 Pro? But if so I would buy the app and the old simple DJI controller. I don't think you can install Litchi or Maven on the smart controller? I could be wrong.
      Of course the smart controller is fantastic. But optical active-track can be extremely annoying. You have to stop and ride back all the time. Follow-me is just put the drone in the air and push the button. Never loses you.
      It's fair to say that active-track may get more interesting shots. But follow-me is more practical if you're in a hurry. When it takes half an hour for 30 seconds footage I just bother and ride on. I don't have time for that.
