    Great job Chef J! I Noticed you didn't use the onion on the flat side. Seems like the patina would help that side even more?

    Great video Jason! We really like the ONION on hot grates- it lays down a rock hard patina that is stable to 1000F, better than any oil to season! Grill On! #grillgrateful

    Thanks much. Mine are so black it’s going to take from now to next century to get them clean.
    Would love to see a video on the tools that you use, like you just did with the paint scraper and scrubber. Things like your nitrile gloves: which thickness (mil) you like, how do they hold up to hot baked potatoes.
    Wha t kind of knives do you like?
    I know you have covered a lot of tools in different videos. Would love to see it in one area.
    Again, love what your doing. Please don’t stop.
    Look forward to meeting you over at Highlands ACE sometime.
    John

    Can you use the new grates immediately after receiving or do you have to go through some type of pre break in?

      I wipe them with some canola oil prior to my first use to help with the first cook, then get to it. Chef Jason

    If you use the Grillgrates on let's say a Weber with the sear-burner, does the sear burner actually do anything? I ask because I want to replace my 20+ year old weber with Grillgrates to a new Weber with the sear station.

      It will still give you a “hotter” sear areA

    How can I keep the grillgrates connected as one instead of them sliding apart?

    • @jadamec
      @jadamec 3 года назад +3

      They lock together. Look close, there's a "Male" and "Female" side on each. Hold at a slight angle, insert one into the other, and when flat they're locked together.

    Why do you have the stock Weber grates still installed under the GrillGrates?

    • @jadamec
      @jadamec 3 года назад +4

      Because the GrillGrates don't float. they're not cut for a perfect fit. They're made to sit on top of the Weber wire grate.

      @@jadamec You can indeed buy replacement GrillGrates that are cut to replace your stock Weber grates. Its what I have on my Weber.

    NEVER use a metal grill brush on any cooking surface. A scrubbed surface doesn't kill bacteria, but do you know what does? 500° for 15 min does! A light physical cleaning does hurt your cooking surface, but a hot cleaning cycle is important and should not be overlooked.

      Thanks Fozzie for the comment, GrillGrate actually makes a wire brush for cleaning the valleys. Metal brush is one of the best ways to remove any buildup. sounds like you have a great plan in place for your grills. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason

      @Chef Jason Morse I appreciate there are more ways to skin a cat. But a bad experience with a metal bristle can spoil the bath water (:-. Appreciate your feedback.
