Ok it frankly upsets me how few people have viewed this considering it has been on for over a year. I mean, it is such a perfectly crafted and performed song, full of light and shade, and, even a guest trumpeter! The Tokyo Int Forum holds 5000, it looks packed, so why the frick have hardley any of them wanted to watch this video? Whats going on??? FFS 28 million people have watched a Prairie Dog turn its head. Rant over.
This show was one of three at this venue in 1999, either September 9, 10, or 12. The last show of the Reinhold Messner tour was December 19, 1999. The band officially broke up in October of 2000, but hadn't released anything official since June of that year. So it wasn't very long after this. I hope you enjoyed the show, I really hope to catch BFF or Folds solo sometime soon.
I was at the last Royal Albert Hall show in December '99. I saw them in London again in 2013 during their reunion tour! Have seen Ben on own his quite a few times as well! :-)
Trumpet solo here much better than the one on the album, because the 2nd phrase is different and much more interesting, so I listen to this more than my own recording of this song.
I LOVE Ben Folds and the Five but I have to say that this is one of his very weakest songs in my opinion. There are a few better songs on that album, and a whole lot better songs in their catalog.
This guy's a genius.
The little interlude around 4:00 is just pure musical magic

"I love you, goodbye." Breaks my heart every time.
God damn. This song.
They all look so handsome in their suit and ties.
I love this song, I used to work in Argos and they had it on thier store music tracks, it was the highlight of my day :-)
What a beautiful song. Lyrics and music are both so ingenious
Performed Perfectly - Loved these guys since 1995 ! I'm listening to Lightning Bugs right now.
A WONDERFUL EFFING PLACE
The horn player's shadow perfectly aligning on the kick drum is pretty cool

Mike S i know that they got together for the MySpace "front to back" occasion, where they played this entire album

this concert is perfection..
Except for that drowsy version of Underground
Ben looks tired and over it. Wonder how long after this he went solo. Glad to see them reformed for a tour. Can't wait to see them later in the year.
I love this song.
That mid 90's LPB-3 Les Paul Bass Tone is so good.
I used to think that, but it's actually one of their most beautiful..
Such a pretty song, from such a crazy-ass band
GREAT song
Timeless
This is one of my favourite songs of his. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I do want to balance out the opinions on this comments page :)

I think it was a flueglehorn
Ben should have had Flea play the trumpet part.
