  • Kayak fishing for bass using lures on the North coast of Jersey -
In this video I paddled out from Bonne nuit bay for an early morning lure session whilst targeting Bass on surface & and soft plastic lures.
This video is ideal for beginners that want to learn how to catch bass on lures.
I hadn’t fished this area much before so I spent time inbetween a few casts checking out some of the coastline.
I also went in the bay next to the islands quarry site which also offers some nice deep water and ideal ground for finding the bass.

      Hi matey
I’m using a few different ones but the one I find is a great all rounder as far as setups go is my Penn conflict inshore spinning rod.
it casts up to 45g which makes it an ideal medium setup for the Kayak.
iv fitted most of my rods with Penn spinfisher or Penn slammer reels as they seem to hold up fairly good around saltwater whilst kayaking.
I’d say if you looking at getting a setup perhaps spen more money on the reel than the rod.
The saltwater corrosion can be unforgiving but it dosnt really affect the rods as much so I try to spend under 100£ on the rod and a little bit more on a reel.
      I hope that helps matey
Thanks for checking out the video it’s very much appreciated!

New to the channel. Enjoyed the video mate. I've buggered off to Madeira so I get a bit of vicarious enjoyment watching you guys catch bass as we don't get them here. The fishing in general is better, but I miss the bass.

@@FISHISLANDTV The kayaking is good. Plenty of places to launch etc. You can be in 100ft of water in spitting distance of the shore too so you could be fish for tuna etc no problem if you were so inclined. The north coast can get a very wild so you have to pick your moments over there. Good thing is you can easily move somewhere more sheltered without having to go far. Hardly anyone lure fishes here which is a bit odd. Loads of bait fishing though, but that's not really my bag.

@@FISHISLANDTV Loads of fishing but only been out on the kayak 3 times because I only just got it. I had a little 5m rib in the UK which I couldn't bring with me for obvious reasons, so this was bought with some of that cash from the sale. Highly recommend Madeira for a holiday with a bit of fishing.

I love a Sunday morning enjoying one of your films with a cup of coffee. I'm getting over a bout of COVID ATM, but can't wait to get my reload back out. What is the name/size of the vibe lure you're using? Cheers buddy.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great buddy.
I’m glad that you enjoy watching the videos bud.
The metal lure I’m using is 20g it’s made by mega bass but if you type in blade baits or vibe jigs online you might find other brands.
Here’s a link to the ones I like to use.

if your doing similar things as I am then I highly recommend.
if your just sticking in close inshore perhaps a smaller model like the Viking Gt would be good

Great vid. Beautiful coast there - and so quiet. Some nice fish too. Thanks for posting.
I’m fairly new to Kayak fishing and noticed that you have a whole selection of rods with you - are they all set up differently? You used one, looked like a beach rod but I think you had three in addition to the bass rod.

      Thanks for watching buddy.
So on this occasion I took out a couple of different setups with me.
The lure rods all rigged the same it’s just some are slightly heavier or lighter so I can chuck out a range of different sized lures.
I tend to use the lighter rod for small jigs or light surface lures & the other two for soft lures & trolling.
I also took out a boat rod which I use to catch some bait for the freezer for when I’m next out bait fishing or putting my pots out from the Kayak.
Thanks again for watching it’s much appreciated!
