Seriously guys, never stop what you are doing. I just spent the last three days watching your Game Chasers videos and loved every minute of it. Keep it up!
The oxidation or cigarette smoke film can be cut in half by rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips. Its very time consuming and you'll never get all of it, I just quickly scrub alcohol on cart with Q-Tip and immediately wipe it dry. repeated attemps make it better.
To get marker off try a product called, Goof Off. I recommend this over Mr. Clean Magic Eraser because M.C.M.E. is like a soft sandpaper, it wears down the natural grid/bumpy feel of the cart. Goof Off also can be safely used on the label to take marker off! Thanks, Justin for writing you name all over my game!
I had already seen Roo's video, but I really like seeing this much more stripped down version that I would be more likely to partake of; and especially seeing how well it still works. Thanks for uploading this!
One REALLY important tip with the GooGone: AVOID letting it touch the very edge of the label, it will seep under and discolor the label around the edges, and it does this VERY quickly.
Caution: Goo Gone can definitely damage the label if left on like you said, but even if not left on long, it can begin to seep into the corners of the label, leaving it discolored and ultimately, not sticky. Never get the Goo Gone into the corners/edges of the label!
Another good episode. Can The Game Chasers do a collection video of everyone's collection? It would be sweet to see what each and everyone has. Would love to see some of the finds you all have made before the show started. Keep up the awesome work that you all do for the show.
Picked up a couple NES carts over the weekend that had rental stickers and then over the stickers the things were wrapped in packing tape....blow dryer and goo gone did the trick. They turned out great.
I've actually been using Goo Gone now for quite a few years, works AWESOME! another thing I used to use, especially for reglueing Atari 2600 labels was called "Gem Tac" They sold it in Joann Fabrics store and unlike other glues, since it's made for fabric, it's pretty strong and won't absorb through the label. Not sure if this chain of stores is around anymore in even in certain areas............
I've used Goo Gone before on carts and it works pretty well. I've never had any problems with it taking or damaging the labels off my carts I've used it on (including a copy of Felix the Cat on NES I got for $6), so I highly recommend it for any game collector.
Remember they are friends with the guy who is debugging, and making the repo carts for the Cheetah men 2 game, and they did some video work for him as well, as promoting the kickstarter, so he could have just gotten it for there hard work.
I was actually turned on to the magic eraser thanks to my favorite game store here in CT. Thing works like a dream and was able to get sharpie off of my power blade 2 pickup. The cart looks brand new! Check those out too, dude.
ive seen others use magic eraser on the plastic shell to fix discoloured plastics, unfortunately being a mild abrasive it will flatten the texture surface abit
Could be a long shot at best to get the discoloring off , but I use Mr. clean magic erasers to clean off marker from my games . If it can the magic marker off , should be able to take off the discoloration .
I never worked in a video store. But if I did, I'd make sure to place the stickers on an area other than the label! At least that's what always goes through my mind whenever I find a cart that has all that video stuff on it. I mean come on...especially on a NES cart...so many more placement choices!
I use to work for Blockbuster back in the hay day and I use to hate when they added the stickers to the label. Though when I started working there, I just added them to the back of the Cartridge. Silly blockbuster..... but this was great to see... now I know
Hey guys love what your doing on your channel. Its great to watch and very well edited. Great example to the rest of youtube. Thanks from The Games Shed in the UK
at 3:00 you can see your finger nail marks from trying to pry the first sticker off while heating it with the hair dryer..i would recommend a little less heat and try to "rub" the sticker off instead of "peal and scrape" it off , then you wont damage the original sticker label ! :)
The goo gone smooths out the grooves on the carts plastic...., Learned that the hardest a couple years ago.. Thank god I tested it on my 20th copy of Ninja Turtles.
I was thinking of using that hair dryer method soon to get an old blockbuster label off of a robocop vs terminator genesis cart i have. Cleaning carts can be fun at times
I love Goo Gone, been using it for years on my DVDs to get rid of residue left by those annoying anti theft stickers. Just don't use too much, and its best to avoid getting goo gone on the edges of the original label. It could come loose or be damaged.
Goo Gone rocks. I use it so much. Going for a full Xbox 360 U.S. collection and it is a miracle for Gamestop purchases where they insist on sticking stickers ALL OVER THE FUCKING THING. Highly recommended, but take the cover out of the case first. If some happens to get on the cover, it'll mess it up.
YO: Billy tweeted last night that if they get 50K sublets by February, we'll start getting two Game Chasers episodes every month, GUARANTEED! Gotta get that RUclips MONAAAAAAAAAY flowing! :D
and by on it i mean the sega genesis cartridge and the stickers are on both sides so i need to know if this trick will work with those type of stickers?
Billy Has Billy shelves! looool! Great vid dude. I'm not to familiar with goo gone, but I'm gonna give it a try on some of my manky carts. I'm sure there could be a euphemism somewhere there....
Is it true that Nintendo carts have a battery inside them and require to change the battery every 10 years or so? If yes, is it the same for other carts for other consoles too?
I used roo's technique of hair dryer and goo gone on my boxed copy of snow brothers that I got for a bargain price. To be honest finding goo gone in Austria was equally as hard as to find a boxed copy of snow brothers XD
Guys, I have a request. I would like to know what you do when you chase down that game, clean it up all nice and perty, slap it in your top loader and your "gem" refuses to work. Game and console are clean. What do you guys do in this situation?
To remove yellowing, use some peroxide and leave it in the sun for a while, I used bblonde peroxide cream on my amigas as theyre all white again rather then yellowed. Google retr0brite for more info.
Coincidentally I used 90% alcohol on my version of this game for the snes almost 1 year ago. I bought it as a lot with my 2nd snes ever and it never worked until I drowned it in the alcohol like I did with my Sonic The Hedgehog.
i use a rubber/plastic cleaner and rejuvenator. it works better and faster than goo gone without the risk of ruining the label on nes carts. however dont use it on n64 or genesis type labels, it will ruin them because they dont have a lining on top of the label. i have a video inmy uploads if you want to check it out.
"Goo Gone doesn't damage the label" - True for NES and SNES games. Don't even touch a N64 label with it though
2022 Annual "Rewatch every video" from The Game Chasers from the start of the channel to now. Thank you reliving an amazing past.

Looks pretty effective. I use lint rollers to lift up the gunk left behind by stickers.
I had already seen Roo's video, but I really like seeing this much more stripped down version that I would be more likely to partake of; and especially seeing how well it still works. Thanks for uploading this!

I love that Roswell store one of the best you must go there every year at least

Their videos are the best on RUclips. Tell all your friends about them so they can get that silver play button!!!!!
thank you and roo for having these videos on how to clean the carts.
Dayum I knew about the goo gone but not the hair dryer trick, pure freaken genius!
for the plastic discoloration, look at something called "retr0bright", a mixture they use for making yellowed consoles nice and unyellow again

Your's and Roo's cleaning vid always amaze me. I got to get that Goo Gone. What do you do again for markers on carts??? Thank's Again!!
The goo gone smooths out the grooves on the carts plastic...., Learned that the hardest a couple years ago.. Thank god I tested it on my 20th copy of Ninja Turtles.
also, the grey carts can be refreshed with oxi clean and rubbing alcohol
I was thinking of using that hair dryer method soon to get an old blockbuster label off of a robocop vs terminator genesis cart i have. Cleaning carts can be fun at times
Goo Gone works amazing for getting stickers off the cart, but you gotta be real careful when using it on labels.
I'm referring to the dust that builds up around the carts corners.
Wow! Quite impressed by how this one ended up.
I use the hair dryer but have always been hesitate when it comes to using chemicals on the labels...maybe I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for the video.
I love Goo Gone, been using it for years on my DVDs to get rid of residue left by those annoying anti theft stickers.
Just don't use too much, and its best to avoid getting goo gone on the edges of the original label. It could come loose or be damaged.
You should try fragrance free baby wipes for cleaning the plastic parts of the cart. The goo gone worked very well i have to get some
Hair dryer and goo-gone... Hmm... I'll have to tell the past me about those cleaning tips using my Nintendo Power Time Machine. There, done.
Can you use the spray goo gone to?
'DAMN YOU RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"....oscar nomination right there!
OMG! Man keep making episodes man you guys are awesome :D

Ahhh! 8-bit Eric failed again next time Eric put your fingers in your ears and go la la la la when Billy talks
to clean the cart and any yellowing systems eg. nes, use whitening toothpaste, works like you wouldnt imagine
Be careful with that goo gone, it can strip the ink off the sticker! I use windex and it seems to do the trick.
Windex works great for removing the brown off of the cart.
Now that's the way cart-cleaning goes!
YO: Billy tweeted last night that if they get 50K sublets by February, we'll start getting two Game Chasers episodes every month, GUARANTEED! Gotta get that RUclips MONAAAAAAAAAY flowing! :D
Now I can see that you guys are good friends with Roo. Sorry about the earlier comment.
and by on it i mean the sega genesis cartridge and the stickers are on both sides so i need to know if this trick will work with those type of stickers?
Nice video man, used the hair dryer to clean up some megadrive carts but the N64 cases have stickers which annoy me more!
The music here makes this process really fucking hardcore.
Another great video by the legend billy gamechaser
DAMN YOU, ROO!!!!!! Laughed so hard.
It's the repro cart he is sending out, Jay and I ended up getting one
Billy Has Billy shelves! looool! Great vid dude. I'm not to familiar with goo gone, but I'm gonna give it a try on some of my manky carts. I'm sure there could be a euphemism somewhere there....
Will this help with those pesky aliminum foil rental stickers i got a CIB rolling thunder 3 and it has those dumb aluminum foil rental stickers on it.
Dude i might see you at magfest i just found out it will be here in baltimore this week.
Roo is awesome, but Billly is awesome too :)
Cool man glad you got it looking good, and you got it for a steal.
Try using a magic eraser for the rest of the cart, works wonders.
Yep. episode 20
the cart came out awesome! poor Eric lol
That Roo and his hokey science.
Cart cleaning contest showdown at MAGFest!
I've notice you have a copy of cheetamen 2 and the lost levels, what's the story behind that
Great game ! One of my favourites ! Nice vid
Great vid and great techniques!
You should give that game back to Eric.
Guys, I have a request. I would like to know what you do when you chase down that game, clean it up all nice and perty, slap it in your top loader and your "gem" refuses to work. Game and console are clean. What do you guys do in this situation?
Laughed my ass of! :D
And nice shirt. That green color suits you really well!
good cleaning job billy
sweet job! game looks nice, probably shouldn't be much harder getting the cart cleaner, but either way, looking good
Dude, laughing soooo freaking hard at the explosion.
Good job, Billy. You owe Roo a peanut or something.
To remove yellowing, use some peroxide and leave it in the sun for a while, I used bblonde peroxide cream on my amigas as theyre all white again rather then yellowed. Google retr0brite for more info.
Wow, holy sweet mother of videogames. Think Eric might be pulling his hair out after seeing this.
I see Cheetahmen in the background... MINE STILL HASN'T ARRIVED!!!
Roo Clan of the Grey Wolf is awesome!
Did part of you want to upload this video so Eric can constantly be reminded on how he got caught slippin'...? haha
You can get goo gone from amazon uk or ebay. It is fantastic stuff.
Wow fantastic job, nice work.
Goo gone works wonders. I was advised to get that after I've had a few with stickers on them.:)
does anyone know if there is Goo-gone available in the UK, or at least a comparable product? thanks
Is that a cheetahmen 2. How did you get it. Do a room tour update
magic eraser works good too in cleaning carts
I like all the fishing related vids YT associated with this video.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will get the wear off the Cart...
Nail polish remover will get the oxidation off the cart.
Coincidentally I used 90% alcohol on my version of this game for the snes almost 1 year ago. I bought it as a lot with my 2nd snes ever and it never worked until I drowned it in the alcohol like I did with my Sonic The Hedgehog.
Hey Billy, where did you get the bad ass G.I. Joe t-shirt?
No worries, it's all G - double O - D Good
That's how game cartridge cleanin' go
The editing caught me off-guard :'D
I used Goof Off and a tooth brush to get a name off my NES cart and omg did it fuck up the plastic. Not happy.
i use a rubber/plastic cleaner and rejuvenator. it works better and faster than goo gone without the risk of ruining the label on nes carts. however dont use it on n64 or genesis type labels, it will ruin them because they dont have a lining on top of the label. i have a video inmy uploads if you want to check it out.
Hope Eric did not see that, he's going to be pissed!
Great vid. More cleaning tips please!
I'd just try rubbing alcohol to get the cart to it's original color. If that didn't work, I honestly wouldn't know what to do.
