- There's no way around it - the Leica Q3 is an expensive camera; at $6.000 it is definitely not for everyone. However, is it worth the investment?
In this video I give you my perspective on the Leica Q3 as a hobbyist photographer who uses this camera to take their consulting business even further.

What Gear Do I Use?
Most of my videos are shot with my Sony a7iii. Sometimes I'll use my iPhone 14 Pro, Leica Q3, Canon 70D, Canon G7X or GoPro Hero 9.

The problem with the Q3 is I hardly use my A7R5 anymore (which i still love) when i travel
Same here! I never use my a7iii anymore when I travel, but for good reason.
Great video and super informative!
Thanks so much! 🙏
You're the ideal customer for this camera, exactly the the sort of user they were aiming for.
I would never buy it, not because I don't acknowledge Leica make high quality cameras, they always have, plus they standardised the use of 35mm film in cameras, which is handy. I own a Hasselblad, albeit a film one, not digital, so I also appreciate quality in my photographic equipment. Apart from this I have a Nikon F3 and several large format cameras.
I don't need things to be instant because that's not my use case, I'm not what Leica, or even Hasselblad as they exist today are targeting. I prefer to work slowly. In one day I with a camera might take as few as two or three images, even when using 35mm. Getting through a roll of 36 exposures can take me quite some time.
I have nothing against digital photography, I own a Panasonic S5 to digitise negatives and record video, but not to take original images, it's just not my thing. I chose that to gain access to the Leica L mount system.
Digital processing of negatives on the other hand fascinates me. I'm looking into doing some research on the topic at the moment.
I totally get that! I have an old Minolta 35mm camera as well, which is my first film camera in a very long time. And my first ever manual focus camera. It’s a totally different experience, but I really love slowing down and taking the time for every shot you take! You’d almost say it’s a form of therapy in our overly digital world…
Awesome video! How do you find the battery life? I just got mine a couple weeks ago and found the battery life to be average when compared to my Sony A7Cii.
Thank you! 🙏 I'm actually really happy about the battery life so far. I have been thinking about getting an extra battery, but so far I really had no need for it.
Great video, quick point about the jpegs. I wish Leica put a little bit more effort into "leica looks", seemed like an announcement last year to grab some of the Fuji crowd, but they haven't done much with it since.
Thank you! 🙏
An I agree about the Leica Looks. They have also released only one new look ever since I got the camera, and I think we have five in total now. I have played around with them, but I still like the "default look" best so far! To me, that one is maybe the one true Leica look :)
Great video👍🏻 soon I will own one too 😄📷
Thank you!! 🙏 I’m sure you will enjoy it!
Having an app to quickly transfer jpgs is way too hard to give up now that I've used it - While Leica's are out of my price point, this is why I shoot Fuji. Surprisingly good jpgs straight out of camera, and onto the phone as quickly as you want.
💯 Agree!!
Sold mine after a few months lens is too wide, autofocus phase detection isn't as good as a four year old canon, camera body is uglier due to pointless flip screen. Save yourself some cash & just get the q2.
