    Glad I found this video. I was asked if I could make stencils with my maker and I said of course! All the while having no idea of what product to use and how to keep the letters intact for a stencil. Thanks! Now when they tell me what it should say I can make it no problem and tell them what to use to stick it down!

    I made a stencil to do a gingerbread man. I was going to teach a lot of students to paint a gingerbread man and had only about 15 minutes for each group. Stencils for everyone made it go so fast!! I’m so excited that I can streamline the process with my reusable stencils!!

      Thank you for this suggestion. I have an Explorer Air 2 and did all the things to cut a stencil out of the chopping mats from Dollar Tree, yesterday. The design is ADORABLE, but didn't go all the way through even though I selected the toughest material and did 2 passes...wasn't successful. I'll try this suggestion.

    NOTE: .007 = 7/1000th of an inch = 7 mils. A mil has nothing to do with millimeters. Oracal 651 is 2.5 mils thick. Stencil plastic can range from 4 to 15 mils thick or so. A credit card is 30 mils thick.

    Interesting. Another vid said to upload then save image/text as a cut file. Did not mention slicing it.
    Also, a fine tip blade was used instead of a deep point, then a custom setting was made to allow for more pressure.

    • @MimiBondi

      Design space will tell you 'fine point blade' but just ignore it and manually change the blade to the deep cut blade, load the mat and go. • @RedSeaCustomz
      @RedSeaCustomz Год назад

      It attaches the inside parts of the letters to the stencil. Like with the letters E, P, D etc so they don't disconnect from your stencil. Otherwise you'll have to place the insides of the letters by hand every single time and hopefully not lose them.

      If you don’t place the “twig” then the centers of the letters will not remain intact, so when you go to paint with your stencil all the centers of the closed letters like e, o, p, etc. would be painted in and your letter will not look correct.

      In the stencil world we call this bridging. You are making a bridge between the middle pieces of letters and the rest of the stencil. The bridge keeps the little pieces from cutting out completely and thus ruining the stencil. Make a very tiny rectangle as Becca shows and place your bridge aka rectangle partly on the stencil and partly on the center of the letter. Then when you have all the centers bridged select all and weld it together.
