I've watched A LOT of dramas, and the protagonist girl is usually sooo hardworking (studying, working, practicing, whatever she had to do to reach her dream) that it actually inspired me to work harder for what I want. When I stay in the library till it's darkening and then take the bus home, that's when I really feel like the protagonist XD

To be honest, reading manga is my hobby too and I’ve read over 600 titles but I understand the difference between reality and fantasy; maybe it’s cuz she’s young but it’s really important to think about the way hobbies affect the people around you, especially your family, when it’s a big hobby close to addiction of staying up that late.
i know people who are a lot younger than her who love romance mangas and stories but we all are well stuck in reality. shes got a pretty bad problem. its unhealthy as hell

I think it's something that we all need to be aware of. Specially other people that take fiction to seriously there's a lot of those that instigate fights because of something fiction.

Same i used to read soo many fanfics in 7th and 8th grade. I still read them but only because its so dumb its funny to read. I rarely read them but i never get this into it. I have a friends who reads fanfics as well, she sometimes pull an all nighter to finish the story haha.
the amount of people in the comments identifying with the older sister is horrifying, watching dramas and reading comics is fine but getting that level of obsession is not something to be proud of, i can only hope these people are young teens and while grow up soon.
i'm glad the older girl in the episode got exposed to her parents about her bullying and cruel behavior though that really needs to be dealt with.

As a reader of romance book and wattpad, there is nothing wrong about it. There is nothing wrongabout reading and imagining you are the heroine because it was your own choice. It's not being crazy or losing our mind, it's simply having an imagination and diving in fantasy. Some of yoy can't understand because you can't see what we see. Some even say we might get pregnant early because we are readung such things, but we don't. Imagining things while reading is not distinguishing reality from fantasy. We just simply want to escape reality. You don't know how those books help others from their problems. You don't know how contented we are just by having fictional characters as husband. I can spend 24 hours straight in weekends reading but it was never a problem because I never forget my school works if I ever have. I admit I also stay in my room after school, but I make sure to finish my homeworks and such before reading.
Her, reading, is not the problem. The problem is she is already disturbing someone without her knowing and she is already forgetting her grades. And her literally implying fantasy in the reality. She really can't distinguish fantasy from reality. She should know not everything is real and some books are based from an author's imagination. Not everything you read can happen in real life.
She just need to balance her time. Nothing is wrong with reading such books. The bad thing is we forget what is more important thanour wants.

I don’t know if you all are old enough to know the reality of things or not but her reading is truly the problem. During the time of puberty the psychological state of a child is very impressionable. Reading a few fanfics and romance novels is okay but if you read too much of that you sure would develop an unrealistic approach towards the world and romance in general. It would not only affect the real relationships in your life but you would also develop immunity towards toxic relationships. Meaning that you wouldn’t even know that the man you are with rn is toxic and treating you like absolute shit because books like these romanticize these stuff. Trust me when i say this is a serious concern for anyone who reads too romance novels and is not old enough to distinguish the right from wrong.
I agree. I've always been an avid reader because it's like watching a movie to me. It's easy to get engrossed in both but I like being able to imagine what it looks like myself.
I totally get your point, I'm also an avid reader of romance comics and dramas as well as other genres since 14y/o till around 19. In those years, I was so addicted then I realized I need to stop, but just cut off a little and have more time for my friends and family, daily lives etc more important things..
I kinda worry about the older sis 'cause she might not stop/ cut off and might end up not having a proper conversation to other people not even her family and wont have a social life in the end. She much relays on the books and ebooks, and expected that those fantasy stories will also the same in real life.. Thats just what I wanted to say.
Im also Thankful that I cut off my addiction to comics and dramas, felt better and have time for other people especially for myself:)

it is at 4.07 but actually she didnt say that for certain name of drama characters. She just simply said Namjoo Yeojoo as the short for namja jooingong, 남자 주인공 which means male main lead, and Yeoju for yeoja or female main lead. So it actually didnt have any connection to Shownu and Kihyun, but yes, still since we have known Shownu and Kihyun used that name before, we are happy about that 😊
Misa-chan from Maid Sama wasn'y just a maid!! It was only a part time job to help her family put food on the table and pay bills. And she did it, while being the student council president of her high school, an excellent athelete and one of the top students in school. She later became a lawyer!
If she wants to emulate this anime, she should also take this into account.

There's nothing wrong with reading mangas or webtoons, I'm not saying that to justify my hobby. It's good to have a hobby, and when I read webtoons, I feel like I'm interacting with various kinds of people that I cannot do in real life. Don't say this applies to reading books or comics only. Even when people watch movies, they feel like they are inside the story. Only people with great sense can invest themselves so much into it. It's not forgetting reality and fantasy. You're just enjoying.
What the girl did wrong here is not reading comics, rather she is causing annoyance towards other people. Stop making it about the hobby. People can be obsessed pretty much with anything and ruin others' life. It's not about the hobby. I often see many people who looks down on other because they like reading romantic novels or mangas, calling them disgusting. It's too much.

I read romance comics and novels. I love romance movies/cartoons. Eventhough the scenes can be really cheesy, but when you read THAT much of romance stuffs, you can actually predict what's gonna happen next.
The usual scenes are
1. The female lead character dropped her book/papers or she slipped on the stairs. This girl can be a nerd or someone who's not popular at school. Then, the male lead character, who happens to be the most popular gut at school, or, a guy who's a gangster, will catch her.
2. The fever/cold scene. Ah, other than the scene that the girl described, we can look at it in another angle too. Like, the female lead character fainted. The guy carries her to the infirmary room. Out of nowhere, he kisses her. Because he likes her since forever.
3. Festival/fireworks scene. So, the girl confessed and they started to go out. At the festival, the girl wears a kimono and when the guy sees her, there will be this bubbles/sparkle effects thingy the author puts. the guy will blush and takes her hands.
It's not wrong to read or fantasize yourself as the female lead character but what's wrong here is asking your sister to read out the cheesy scenes that you hated so much and not having dinner with your family.
You need help
Go explore different genres to learn about life. The older sister was only into romance and literally living with her fantasy. It's really a concern for the lil sis.
It's so wrong on so many level.
Fact that she locks herself in, disregard her own need of sleep, disregard proper nutrition intake, does not communicate with family, disregard relationship with siblings, disregard classes, doesn't give effort in her study, bothering other's sleep for her own entertainment, shoving responsibility to other people, taking credits from other's efforts, lying, bullying, dictating other's life,
just because of what? She wants something that she read actually happened to her for real? Through those actions?
She is in dire need of proper intervention. That innocent habit is not positive anymore, she needs a wake up call.
She can chase her dreams alright, but not that way, not with that actions, not with that mindset, it's better to hurt now than later, it's time for her to grow up properly

Being a kdrama and anime fan, there are boundary between reality and fantasy. This girl need to be awaken from her imagination no matter what. There are some cases where teenagers not being able to distinguish between reality and fantasy.
For example, a male teenager who is a hardcore of game imagine himself as the character. To make it worse, the character is a highly trained soldier. He got trouble in school and tried to run away. He jump off from second floor and as the result his bones are broken. He said that he was able to do it just like the game.
Another case is a female adolescent who is just like this girl. She is so into the fictional novel to the point she feel like she is the female character. She start to stalk a teenage boy from her school, thinking that he is the one that should be with her. But, the boy reject her, saying he doesn't have any feeling to her. This is the beginning of her obsessions. It become worse when she sneak into his bedroom and stole his items like book, shirt and others. She was arrested for broke in and stealing. Her parents were given some suggestions to take their daughter for some treatment for her mental and emotion, and they agree for it.
Losing sense of reality can be quite dangerous. The way I see her; easily irritated, ignore her family. She's already shows some signs of delusional symptoms. This girl really need some professional help.
