This is a work of extreme importance. After revising it many times, Bruckner left us an unique piece of music that set the foundations of this genre for future generations.
This mass changed my life. I never could get really into Bruckner in many areas for whatever reason. But this is music that moves mountains. It briefly lifts the soul into the heavens to glimpse just a speckle of radiant light. What divine art! (and I'm not religious)
Why specifically Bruckner and not romantic composers in general? I guess that the neoromantic music of the 20th Century has been more important for the cinema.

Oha! DANKE!
I had to sight sing this because I was a fool and didnt learn it ahead of time. Its written so well you can feel it. I regretted not learning it ahead because it's just so beautiful.
@@Ivan_1791 It's actually a so-called German 6/5 or Augmented 6/5 chord. Raised fourth degree (f# in C min.) with seventh. It sounds the same (but written differently) as Ab Dominant Seventh Chord, but solves different (to G, dominant of C, instead of Db). Hope it's clear : )
Thank you. The Portland Symphonic Choir is doing this Wednesday night, August 15. This is my opportunity to see what they are doing before "attempting" to join in. I had never heard it, and it is beautiful.

Super opportunity to read and listen. The Credo Antiphone or whatever it is called sounds different from what You offer as sheet music. Is there a reason? Anyway thank You very much.
nein!
Thank you for the work. It is great to see the partiture for studying but for singing it does not work. I would suggest that it should be scrolling the pages, or them changed a moment before the singing, otherwise it is not possible to read in time at the swap of pages.
@@bartjebartmans - Well, I was not protesting, and I know this things take a lot of work., and you probably know a lot more than me on how to do it. Just a friendly sugestion. Cheers!

Michael there is no other side. It is all a thought, an idea. It doesn't exist outside of your brains. That is when it becomes difficult when you realize life is nothing else than what you think it is. PERIOD.

The emotion and greatness of Mass No 2 are unfathomable, and immeasurable

In my case this mass and the three exemplary masses by Byrd.
My choir is singing this piece right now. It’s absolutely beautiful and I fall more in love with it every time we rehearse.
02:17 WOW, heartbreaking. It's just beautiful.
Hollywood composers owe Bruckner big-time!
Sure, but that‘s more obvious from his F-Major mass

35:45 Incredible! One of Bruckner’s most intense moments. Anyone who thinks Bruckner is “cold” or “emotionless” needs to hear this.

The most beautiful mass!
And Bach's??
MAgic!
Unforgettable.

Is it a minor fourth grade with a minor seventh?

@@PatPixs Yeah, now I can hear it with no trouble, that time I didn't know very well about those chords.
Thank you for posting! Singing this soon (Interlochen, USA, summer 2017), and it's great to hear how it's sung, and to have the SCORE also! :-)
i was in the allstate choir at interlochen in 1965. it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!

Nice. I live in Oregon and know that choir. If I had known about that date I would've gone to hear them.
The Kyrie of this Mass terrifies me. When the sopranos come in at 6:18. Frightening.
Sensitive !
Beautifully done.
Thank you for posting. Wonderful!
Tu as absolument raison ! Je le sens moi aussi.
Pure & reverent.
Thanks. i enjoyed croaking along to the bass II part.
Wonderful!
Beginning work on this piece for a May performance in New York City. Seeing the original score is a treat.
my favorite mass
Amber Ianetti Have you heard Gabriel Faure's Requiem ?
I love Saint-Saens' Mass also.
@Amber Ianetti That's for me too ☺️
WONDERFUL!

Excellent performance of this interesting piece. A question: whose pencil markings (red and other colors) are on the displayed score?
They're probably just from the original owner of the print.
That's not a print. It's a handwritten score.
Super opportunity to read and listen. The Credo Antiphone or whatever it is called sounds different from what You offer as sheet music. Is there a reason? Anyway thank You very much.
The reason is simple, had not the original but still wanted to post a version. Nice you noticed. Keep'the listener on their toes, not?
Just sight-read it through for tomorrow's one and only rehearsal....it's quite hard isn't it!!
Thank you so much for uploading. Pure magic! Whom belongs the score ? Is it the original manuscript ?
Just discovering Bruckner : so spiritual ; woke me up from my agnostic doldrums .
@Bartje Bartmans Is this Bruckner's own handwriting (sorry, I couldn't find any information on that anywhere)? It's wonderful.
Yes it's Bruckner's manuscript in his own handwriting.
You should do a version of this with the printed score
You can do that too.

Lovely music to sing, but the director having us use 19th century German pronunciation of Latin made for larger learning curve.
