Thanks for the nice review! One correction. This AMOLED display is HDR500 certified, so it does get bright when needed. But there is an adoptive brightness control, so you can't manually increase the brightness to the maximum with a simple white screen on this laptop...
I believe that 500 nit feature is only for HDR content and only for Book Pro 2, not 1.

Totally different experience for me. Love the keyboard, laptop has been extremely quiet all week, screen is gorgeous and brightness is good.
I haven't experienced the touchpad click while lifting the laptop but then again i never picked up a laptop like that in the last 15 years so ...
MacBook Air, BTW, is $100 more expensive with comparable specs AND It's still only 13".
Do you have pro or pro 360?, I have the 360 and I haven't seen any issues in the trackpad or keyboard, and the back is pretty solid, impossible to click the trackpad, (all aluminum), I have seen some reviews mentioning plastic in the pro version.

Btw MacBook Air has much better specs than this for $999 the only thing this does better is the slim bezel design but then the MacBook has a 16:10 aspect ratio which is better oh and you could count windows as a benefit but then MacBook would probably emulate it faster than what galaxy book can do natively.

Nice review. I think you have forgot to mentiond that there is another extra nvme slot which support 2280 (only applicable to nvme with chips on 1 surface) just at the end of existing small nvme.
Samsung Update had 10 driver updates and a BIOS update right after setting up the PC. Pretty seamless way to get those third-party patches. Agree that the false click is a problem, the keyboard is not great, and it gets warm in your lap. Otherwise love it and love your review!!
This laptop feels more like a Galaxy A72 then a Galaxy S21 Ultra, pretty let down. Thank you for not simping this laptop like every other reviewer.
What? The A72 is a really great phone though? I've been using the A71 for over a year now and it does 95% of what the S20 does for like half the price.
@@Dajaxon i think he means that for what you're paying, you should get a full-on S21 ultra experience
they can just put a aluminium bottom which solves the heating problem and stiffness problem

as you know I´m using the 13" Pro 360 now for more than a week now.
Screen is the same but of course sharper on the 13" and touch which works good although I have not used the included pen.. yes the brightness is limited and could cause issues outside + the 16:9 is not 2021ish.. but the OLED is lovely and special for 1200€.
Touchpad can be clicked on the 13" too but only when its closed and you put pressure on the back of the screen where the trackpad is under it.. that´s because the screen is so thin.
Samsung Update App works for me fine and with it you have always the latest drivers and firmware.
Speakers don´t get loud.. bass is low.. simply said they are bad.
keyboard feels good for me and my layout (german qwertz) is good too. I got used to it really quick.
All in all I feel like there are some major differences in user experience when you compare the 13" Pro 360 and the 15" Pro which don´t show up when you just look at the specs..

For 15" convertible laptops, I feel like Lenovo and Asus do a better job than HP.

I had the HP Envy x360 and returned it for the Galaxy Book Pro. It's around the same price (with Samsung's student discount and for the i5 version plus you get an additional $150 in accessories credit), but nearly half the weight and with a AMOLED screen. Plus nice to haves like usbc charging, a bigger battery, bigger trackpad, number pad, and hdmi.

I completely agree about the aspect ratio. Having 16:10 helped MacBooks stand out for years before Windows laptops began the trend a couple years ago. I mean, the LG Gram is all about bragging about the weight of the device. All the marketing is around that. LG could have continued giving 16:9 displays to keep the weight down, but even the Gram went 16:10. Anyway, my rant is over lol...my point is i feel like Samsung concentrated more on the weight of the device than the actual experience of the user.
I just bought this same unit for $995, and love it. It replaces my 10 year old Samsung laptop that has served me well, but this one kicks it's azz. Compliments my phones and TV also.
Though the new Sony Vaio with Intel Xe graphics is over twice as much am I mistaken that it is fanless? Wonder how that compares if money is not a factor.
Hi Matthew, I really want to know if this Samsung Galaxy book pro can run the game at the highest graphic setting smoothly, my S9plus feels very struggle to play this game, and my 6-year-old MacBook pro can't even play this game... For running this specific game(and also college works), would you recommend I buy this Samsung laptop? or do you suggest I go for a gaming laptop?
I have a question. I'm looking for a laptop to do 1080p video editing for my RUclips channel. I use windows movie maker (yes, still have it 😁) It's easy. So, do I really need a dedicated graphic card or Intel iris xe with I7 and 16gb ram will be enough? Right now, I upload a 15 minutes 1080p video in 20 minutes with my desktop with I7 and older system from 2017. Thinking about buying the Samsung book pro with iris xe or Dell xps 15 with iris xe.. "Important to 5 people out there". Exactly! Love the witticisms! I agree 100% with the review, which is why I went with the XPS 15 9500. Pricier but worth it. I really wanted this laptop to work since I'm a Note20 Ultra user ... but, sadly, no. Underwhelming!

With a student discount you can get the i5 version (basically the same performance) for $880 and you get $150 towards accessories on Samsung's website. And for having an oled screen and being one of the lightest laptops out there I think that is an unbeatable deal.

Is there anything that can be done about the false clicks? I have a Lenovo ideapad that does the same thing! It is almost 4 years old now. To see this happening in a separate company’s hardware is boggling. It’s so hard to search for what is happening with it online. If anybody knows the answer or can fix it, let me know. Thank you. That squashed up keyboard was bringing back bad memories of terrible laptop keyboards and I looked at the enter key on my mechanical keyboard and had a sigh of relief 😆

3:24 how do you recognise that the PWM flicker is minimal and not an issue?
Notebookcheck claims that the PWM frequency is very low 59Hz and can cause eye strain and headaches.
I want to know if it's serious because I will be using it about 10 hours a day.
I like the Flex 2 5G from Europa , we don't get it here in North America :( , it has the 600 Nit QLED LCD very good in bright light

Great review. I was waiting so much for this product and was really disappointed when it came out. 16:9 and that huge bazzel? A wobbling Display? Na, I can't stand that... And that's sad as I love the galaxy eco system. I have a Tab S6 and a Note 20. Real good products.

I expected way more from Samsung. They make so much in-house and are known for high quality stuff, yet they bring out something so... lacking.
They are masters at this, terrible quality control. Sometimes they get right, mtfs are monsters, but more often than I would like they don't. I only use samsung phones and tabs for sometime though, that's why they can get off with that: Weak competition and Apple, strong but a authoritarian.
They're late to the laptop world and I agree plus there not known for this so hope that the Galaxy Book Odyssey which is coming this month should be better.
Yup.. and the "laptop is history" marketing of them for these.. very inaccurate. Instead of that marketing they count make these laptops much better. I feel like their previous Galaxy Book Flex was better. For the sake of thinnes they sacrificed everything. Well of course not just thinnes but saving costs and increasing profit too.

Does anyone have any feedback on battery life for this laptop? Thinking of picking one up for university.
Good laptop for me. Keyboard is great. No phantom clicks here. Screen is certainly not 320 nits its very bright. Not sure why your test unit is lacking. Like someone else mentioned its HDR500 certified and sites with specs list the brightness going well over 600. Added a 4th gen 1TB M2 to bring storage to 2TB for cheap. The extra M2 slot supports 4th Gen M2 drive. At $680 brand new this is a good buy. Pairs well with S22 Ultra. Runs a bit hot and the data transfer lacks behind the competition but I can wait a tad longer from time to time for large file transfers. The screen carries this model and its the sole reason it stand out and for some makes it a definite buy. AMOLED screen simply has no substitute. Wet ink pitch blacks, great vibrant color, wonderful video presentation.

Since using this laptop I love it completely. I have no issues with unintentional clicks or screen brightness. The screen is bright AF. Its been a great buy so far. If anything the buggy aspects stem from windows drives and updates etc
I'm looking at galaxy pro 15 in at Costco for 899.00 now in July. Thoughts.. and it has a 1T hard drive which seems hard to find at other stores. Are you still loving it? Thx

Great laptop for the price though. I think you must have received a duff sample. My track pad is fine. The click is pronounced, but never misses. Keyboards are a personal preference and for me this one is pretty good. It won't beat out my old Pixelbook Go"s keyboard but I've no real complaints about the Galaxy"s tbh. Good bang for yer buck imo.

I bought the LG Gram and every few months a new keyboard key will stop working. Right now there are 3 or 4 that aren't working. And annoyingly, it's impossible where I am to find a shop that does repairs.

Being a fan of Samsung these laptops really disappointed me in terms of the competition of the moment.
Sent my 360 back because of the touch pad issues. If you use it on your lap, it's constantly clicking as you type and moving the pointer or selecting links that you don't want. Steer clear of this product

My Galaxy Pro 360 13" gets super hot. We have a lot of different brand laptops. Most of the laptops have 4k screens and video cards. This is the only one of our laptops that runs supper hot. We even changed the power mode to batter efficient mode. And are only using the browser.

the outdated aspect ratio is an absolute dealbreaker for me. With my matebook's 3:2 screen work is a soooo much better experience
I get you. It's good the Samsung has a small bottom bezel at least, at first glance I thought it was 16:10.
Recently got the Asus G14 and it's a shame it's 16:9, but since I hook it up to a monitor 99% of the time it's not an issue for me.
An excellent review I wish I'd watched 24hrs ago! In the UK the top spec LG Gram 16, i-7, 16Gb, 1TB went on sale on Amazon at £1,099 (usually £1,499). So many other reviewers were praising the Samsung in comparison but it just didn't add up. Your review has confirmed what I suspected. Now Amazon have sold out of the Gram annoyingly.
They are both great lap tops for the price with the windows platform. There are also cheaper less powerful versions of the Galaxy book that do a fantastic job as well.
There are not any real competitors to apple in the windows environment to be honest but those two brands do come close with their options.
