The player with the ice pack on his leg is Gene Washington. I went to Jr High School with Gene. I was in the 9th grade and he was in the 8th. Another former NFL player also at the same school was Earl Mccullough. I played catch with him once. Very talented player.
This was the first year of a major slide for the 49ers. It wouldn't be until 1981 and Bill Walsh's 49ers that things would finally turn around and they'd become a championship franchise.
They would have a winning season in 1976, giving them a brief break from the losing.
Beautiful music
Thank you so much for posting this.
The narrator sounds like the late great Pat Summerall. 🏈
Just wait 8 years.
They never, ever should have put in astro turf at Candlestick Park!
They should have never put astro-turf in any stadium, grass all the way
The Forty Niners were the team in the Crossroads and Hard/Trying Times... but by the time the Niners return to the winning season and the Super Bowl in 1981, The High Times emerged and became the Super Bowl team of the decade...... including January, 1995 Super Bowl title against the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers........
But 1973-79, plus 1980 season, did became the rest of the decade as known as the "Hard Times" decade, before Joe Montana and Bill Walsh arrived in 1979( but still 2-14 by season ended that year)...
