In case anyone is confused, this is the book trailer. There is a movie coming out, but this is not the trailer for it. It says in the acknowledgements section of Thunderhead that Scythe is being made into a feature film by Universal. The release date is TBD. : )
Also, Rowan and Citra look 30 in this

I really hope they don’t look/are that old in the movie. I think it ruins the vibe of them being young and impressionable, but also showing them maturing.
Those robes look like bedsheets tbh. I know Scythes are all about a simple life and all but at least put some texture and design to them
Each Scythe designs their own. Maybe that’s how those characters designed theirs? The white one was clearly Scythe Faraday and he’s cloak in the trailer looks about like I imagined his would be. Especially after he’s so adamantly defensive over Citra’s behavior.

@David Sorell the robes can be virtually any color, excluding black, so I don't think it matters that much.

This, was the first book that actually made me cry in the end, I'm not a typically sensitive to anything I know isn't real, but the way it was made was so well thought out, well organized and utilized to near perfection! I had never read a book series faster than this and never had felt so sad to see it end!

Completed reading it yesterday, and wasn't sure if it was a one trick pony... But 100 pages in to Thunderhead and I can definitely say this series is one fine piece of work! This book really needs more hype. I understand that the movie is in the works, and will be awfully sad if it isn't as good as the Hunger Games or other great book adaptations, and not a horrendous Eragon book-to-movie disaster

I don't think this is official. There is a little more information out there now that it's four years later but the trailer looks like it only took a couple days to make. So I think that this is just to show what it would be like, of course it would be better with more founding. But this doesn't seem to have any conformation, they just, put this out there and make people ponder. The fact is that movie is under development and it seems that in around 2024 this might be a thing. I just hope this wont be the next "The Last Airbender" or something.

Neal Shusterman came to our school for a book signing and to answer many peoples questions about the books, and he said that Scythe is being made into a movie by Universal Studios, and Dry is being made by Paramount. I’m excited for these

Hello, Mr. Shusterman! I just finished reading Scythe, and I must say that I really really really love it! I love the unique plot and the development of the characters. It is really a refreshing dystopian novel. I can't wait for the movie version 😊 I already started reading Thunderhead. I know I'll love it too. Cheers!

My actual fan cast for this movie is Whitney peak as Citra and I’m not rly sure about Rowan but prolly either Gavin Leatherwood or someone like that as him. Scythe Curie I would LOVE Eve Best in that role but I don’t know if that will come to fruition since Neal wants Meryl Streep or Helen Mirren in the role. He also wants Ian McKellen as Scythe Faraday which I think would be GREAT but also Harrison Ford could also do it now that he’s older and embracing older roles. Scythe Goddard does have a semi-darker skin tone in the books and is younger so he could be played by Mena Massoud
Why aren't this series and the Unwind series movies yet? With the right team and director/producer, these would be EPIC. Make it happen, Mr. Shusterman!
When there is a movie for this, I really really hope they do it closely to the books simply because this is the first book I've read since 2007 and one of only a handful I've read in my entire life.
I agree with all of the people in the comments saying Citra and Rowan look different than they should and the robes look like bedsheets, but I REALLY want a movie of this! I love the story and Neal Shusterman's stories, I've read so many of them.

I know I'm answering late, but I honestly recommend Neal Shusterman's other books. So far I've read Roxy, Dry and Challenger Deep, and they're all amazing

Dear Neal shusterman I’m a 7th grade boy who loves the scythe and would like to thank you on your hard work on the books I’m currently trying to wrap my head around the last part which I think is the funniest part of the book when Grayson toliver / slade briggers has a small talk with the thunder head which marks all as unsavory except for him and once more thank you for the awesome work.

I'm reading it slowly...lol I'm actually upset I hadn't read it much sooner. I wanted to be a Scythe untiiiiiil, I got a few chapters in and I'm like shiiiiid this ain't no regular job or career this is the equivalent of enlisting in the marines and being on the frontline. This book gets very real. I cant wait for the movie. Neal hit it out the park with full bases covered in the last inning. It's that good!
This book was awesome!!! I dont need a film cause i think the version in the book is better almost everytime. And everybody can create his own world while reading, that's why i love books more than movies

Faraday didn't die, but yeah, Volta's death hit hard, and added so much more emotion towards Goddard's first death

This was a book trailer, but yes Neal is partnering with Universal.
When I was reading the book series, I interpreted Citra as a blond, white girl, while I interpreted Rowan as more of an African American. I don't know what it is, but it just felt right as the story went on.
my depictions of them are vice versa bc the book says citra has more afric blood... also fanart has influenced my perceptions
@@mm5xo I haven't really seen much fanart of them, it was more a thing that seemed to be fitting of their personalities as I read the books. Either way it is, I guess we'll have to see how they are each portrayed in the film adaptation(s) (yes, I said adaptations, because I think they're probably going to do a trilogy like with the books).
UPDATE FOR YALL In March 2024, it was announced that Scythe wouldn't be produced as a movie, instead it would be a TV show with Universal.

This isn’t any kind of movie trailer. This is purely a book trailer. The movie is supposed to be in production by Universal. There’s no official or even estimated release date, but I would say it should be within the next year or two. I know a movie for Dry and a tv series for Unwind is also in the works, so we just have to wait and see what comes first.
