However, thank you for everything because chess is an important part of my life now. If we pick a Kickstarter pack , is it usually nearly a guarantee? Or is there a high risk we won't get what we had ordered? I ask because I'm super interested in picking up one of these boards!!!
Another person asked the same question. I asked Jeff Wigh (the founder behind ChessUp) about it and here is what he said: “Kickstarter itself has a strong warning and it scares some people. We have no control over the warning. But we tell people is: The brand behind the kickstarter is what matters. ChessUp is an established brand and they will receive the product.”
I was waiting for this, but because this is a bit late in the kickstarter campaign. I had allready decided to buy the board and support the channel seperately

It doesn’t feel cheap or particularly plasticy to me. I agree that a wooden ChessUp would be amazing, but I fear the prize would be astronomical. As it is I think the board is already surprisingly cheap considering that it has a touch screen, dedicated computer inside, 64 LEDs in 4 colors each, a chip inside each piece (for piece ID) and a bunch of special software for like training and lessons and stuff. Typing it all out I am actually wondering how it is even possible to sell this board at the price they do - but hey if it works it works!
@@ASMRChess yes, i agree definitely for the kickstarter price it’s a good deal. I actually got two so I can give one to my dad as well and we can play against each other while I’m living abroad. It’s a subtle thing but what I like most about it is 1) yes the LEDS but more importantly 2) the fact that you do not have to press down on the pieces to move them from one position to the other, that it’s all touch sensitive and that the board is even aware of the individual pieces. Very cool

Don’t be sorry. I’ve been talking to Jeff from BryghtLabs and he tells me that they are hard at work with a BUNCH of new features for ChessUp 1. I’m not sure I’m allowed to say what the features are, but they sound really cool!

It took me about 5 seconds. Chess 2.0 is very much about easy of use, functionality and accessibility. It borrows a lot from the original and if you are a proficient player of chess 1 you can carry all that with you to chess 2.
One of the issues I have had with the first model was not being able to set up a position to play so the fact v2 supports that might mean I do upgrade but wondering if piece ID might be a new software feature and become available to first generation owners. Does anybody know if this is likely?
Good question! I went and asked Jeff from BryghtLabs (the company that makes ChessUp) and he said that piece ID unfortunately cannot work on ChessUp 1 since it requires some specific hardware inside both the pieces and the board itself. However you *can* setup a specific position in ChessUp 1 by loading the FEN string into the board from the ChessUp app. I’ve used that feature often myself for the videos.
Fortunately ChessUp 1 will still be supported and they are working on a lot of new features and software upgrades that will give you a lot of new functionality. ChessUp 2 hasn’t been released yet by the way - they are still doing the kickstarter.
I already have enough chess boards lol! Very nice though, it says on the website estimated delivery November 2024. Surely it can’t take that long if someone was to buy it
At 13:52 when u said he started playing aggressive you could of won rook by sacrificing ur bishop by taking his pawn the one where his king is and then it would check him letting you use ur queen to take his rook

It is because they made a miscalculation. They captured my bishop thinking they could win my rook on b7. You see if I just capture their rook their queen can then come to c8 and give a check! After my king moves they can pick up my rook on b7. However I play this in-between move of giving a check with my own queen. They have to play queen takes queen otherwise I just capture their queen. Crucially when I recapture their queen with my rook I also give a check to their king! The king will have to move and I can then capture their rook on d5 with my pawn. That will result in an endgame where I have two rooks and they only have one. Given that they have no compensation this is simply a lost position and it is quite easy for black to play so they might as well resign since they are 99.99% sure they will lose the game. Hope this helps! Thanks for asking!
Actually white should have played kh2 and I think they are winning. The queen on c3 is defended by the white rook. And after kh2, if you take whites queen, white can throw in rd8+ first and then recapture on c3. And after kh2, if black takes the rook on d5 white wins the rook on b7 and then will be hitting f7 as well. White will be up 2 pawns with pressure.

Very nice. I went with a Square Off for the self-moving pieces but this looks a lot more streamlined and the integrated touchscreen is a big plus.

There are also computer chess machines that can move the pieces themselves, such as Gochess square off.

I bought chessup two months ago and now they’ve dropped chessup 2
