Nick not realising that the Temple Canteen was in fact not hidden and that’s how pretty much all canteens are in South Asia has to be the most adorable mistake ever.
Anyone miss when Nick actually cooked things. I don’t mean like his recent steak video that was made with the attention span of an 11 year old on tictok I mean the style of video he made like 2 years ago my favorite example is his French onion burger video, straight to the point but still fun, there were jokes but the whole video wasn’t a joke, you know
I love that you were trying the foods that I eat at home, it makes me really happy to see and I’m glad you’re open to trying out everything from different cultures. Actually a lot of temples have some sort of cafeteria/canteen in the basement! The food is always 👌🏽👌🏽
i like how he knows what chutney is but doesnt know what a doas is and makes up (sorta) names for indian food. nick, your vids are still amazing and it puts a smile on my face to see you try food that i eat.
@@yugimon313 I give Nick credit for at least trying our food, but he should have at least done some RESEARCH before making the segment. I also blame his supposed subscriber for not educating him properly.
Nick I just had the pleasure of dining at Duck Sel this past Saturday for the 15 course tasting menu. It was incredible to say the least and thank you for finding and sharing! 10 out of 10 experience!
This was one of the coolest videos I've watched on this channel. I loved it. I can't wait for a part 2 featuring guga as you watch him get even more confused than nick trying to find the hidden doors. I wonder if there are any restaurants hidden inside escape rooms.
my natinal dish is falafel and the way nick built hit pieta made me cringe so hard the hamus gos first then the falafel then the chopped salad that he could not name and then the tahini he could not name. every thing else in the vid was fine but this rly rubed me the wrong way
As much as I love Nicks channel, im starting to miss his old content when it was an actual cooking channel. I wish he made more foods from different cultures. Edit: I never said i didn't like his current content, I actually enjoy it. I just said that i MISSED his old content. Get it right people.
I’m surprised you actually found the restaurant in the Indian temple. I usually eat whenever we go to the temple, and they always hide the restaurant. I’m also surprised that you enjoyed the dosa and mango lassi!! I always get that
I moved away from Chicago a few years back, but so happy to see Oasis Cafe is still around. I used to go there on Tuesdays for their Moroccan Chicken special -- it's so much food for the price too. But really anything on the menu from the kefta to the hummus to the lentil soup is fantastic. If anyone is ever in Chicago, it's definitely a must stop.
Hi nick, i remember a number of years ago, I had a dream about a fancy restaurant hidden in the subway station. When i woke up, i thought it was crazy how a restaurant would be hidden in a subway station and how it would be so cool if it is real. And a number of years later after that dream, which is now, I found that it is real and its thanks for the video nick.
Been to both Frevo and Temple Canteen. Frevo was a unique tasting menu. Mostly worth it for the fun flavors. Temple Canteen is well known and it's excellent.
Every time I see idlis, I remember a beloved coworker, Usha, a strict vegetarian, who learned that I loved Indian food and brought in goodies for me regularly. She always apologized that her idlis were never as good microwaved, but I could never tell, they were always so delicious with the dhal and chutneys that she brought. This was 20 years ago, but I hope and pray that she is enjoying herself, in this life or her next.
Not just Indian, South Indian vegetarian. Most people in the US no nothing about it cuz most Indian immigrants are from the North. The Flushing temple does indeed have some of the best South Indian vegetarian food in the US; it's famous for it in the Tamil Brahman community.
I appreciate Nick so much for him actually going to a temple and eating some south Indian cuisine.I feel a certain pride inside because south India is finally being recognized and i’m south Indian
Nick, I'm a huge fan! Smaller detail: I'm Indian. Other people might be ok with it, but I was crying when I saw u eat dosa and vada plain. It's like ordering a taco, eating just the shell for the first bite, then with the lettuce and the meat and everything else that makes it good! Here's how I see it: dosa and vada are edible. Dosa vada and chutney are what we like to call food.
Nick idk if you’ll see this but I have kinda a niche recommendation that fits the theme of the video. If you ever find yourself on the island of Aruba and want a hidden gem try out “Anna Maria’s”. It’s a backyard restaurant where the woman and wait staff all prep food right in her kitchen. I know that island like the back of my hand and it’s the best Italian you’ll get there. There is so many other cool restaurants there too so if you ever find yourself wanting to visit there I’d say it’s worth the trip!
He just butchered Indian food, I think he liked it. Nick that crispy paper was dosa and that rice patty was idli and the donut was mendu vada that you ate in the basement of the temple.
So cool to see you went to Hiden! Love the chefs there (great people too)! Taco Stand is pretty damn good too and my go-to in Wynwood, you should've tried it for funsies
Nick I look up to you, I’m twelve years old and I love to cook and watch your videos. As soon as I saw your book was up for pre order I got it, every Time I go to Boston for Red Sox games I imagine meeting you at a restaurant or something, I have watched since I was 10. I’m excited to see what you do next!
a little info: in temples, the main practice is to eat AFTER praying. i think that this is the reason why the temple canteen sign is behind the gate. also, im not sure if you wore shoes inside the temples, but it is usually not allowed. thanks for trying some authentic indian food
the point of this video is to show ppl the food at these places if he were to just say "oh no I can't get in" than that wouldn't be a good video now would it💀
