Put a Stop to Off-leash Dogs in On-leash Areas!
Off-leash dogs in on-leash areas are becoming more and more of a problem. Since my bird has been attacked by an off-leash dog in the mutliple times, I’ve become quite sensitive to this issue.
    1. Too many dog owners seem to be operating under the false assumption that there is nothing wrong with allowing their dogs to run off leash in on-leash areas, because their dogs are “friendly” and won’t harm anyone. Many of these folks will even yell at a distance, as their dogs come galloping toward people “Don’t worry, he’s friendly”, as though that makes their illegal and dangerous choice acceptable.
    2. First, for my bird to, having multiple unleashed dog rush unwanted and uninvited into its personal space and chasing him is a stressful event. DOG owners who walk their dogs off leash are blatantly selfish and irresponsible to put other peoples pets and their dogs in danger. The lawbreaker’s attitude seems to be that they and their dogs’ welfare are more important than that of others.
3.The “Oh he’s friendly” claim is not only irrelevant but also a myth. No dog owner can accurately predict 100% of the time how her dog will react when greeting another dog or another pet. All we have to do is look at the skirmishes and fights that happen at dog parks, even when the dogs are on “equal footing”. And having an illegally off-leash dog cause a problem for a leashed dog just once is too much.
4.Unfortunately, animal control officers (ACO) in most cities are overworked and underpaid and can’t provide as consistent enforcement of leash laws as is needed. And irresponsible dog owners aren’t making it easier. I like to see immediate fines for the first violation, without a pass or warning. The latter only encourages people to continue to keep repeating bad behavior, knowing there’s a good chance they may get away with it.
5.Off-leash dogs in on-leash areas are not only dangers to other dogs and other pets but people as well. Most on-leash areas are multi-use, frequented by cyclists, skateboarders, joggers, walkers, families and small children, all of whom are in danger when dogs run uncontrolled.
    6. Off-leash dogs are also dangers to themselves. Few owners have drop-dead verbal control over their dogs, putting them at risk for running into nearby streets and being hit by cars, or getting lost.
    7. So, the take home message is, if you are tempted to take your dog off leash in an on-leash area - don’t. Stop and consider the effect of your behavior on others who are using the area.

One Squarey Boi she still should have been smart and more considerate of her birds well-being and left when she saw potential predators at the park (even if it’s only a dog)
It’s retarded of a pet owner to internationally put and leave their pet in this sort of dangerous situation.
Would you free fly a bird with a falcon or hawk nearby? Obviously not, but that same logic should apply to land predators too, a domestic bird might not realize the danger (like this one didn’t seem to) and it’s the owners responsible to think for the pet and remove it from the situation.

I love your videos and I know you love your birds, but it's your responsibility as a bird owner to not put your birds in dangerous situations like that.

Local law requires leashes. That’s because unleashed dogs pose a risk to other dogs and even small children. She probably should not let the bird fly when dogs are in the park. she should remind them of the law and ask them to leash their dogs. If they refuse call the cops and they will either get a warning or a fine. Legally If they hurt the bird their owners are liable for treatment or in the case of death replacement. Keep in mind that these birds are worth thousands of dollars so simply informing the dog owners of this should be enough.

I'm sorry but you sure take a lot of chances with your bird. I never would have let my bird fly free where there are dogs I didn't know or were not used to flying birds. You could see the dog owners weren't concerned for your birds safety the first time you flew him. Then you flew him a second time with the dogs still loose. Where did you learn to free fly your bird? It seems to me that YOU need more training from an expert before you free fly him out side again. I watched your video where you lost him in the desert when crows attacked him. I don't free fly my bird but I could see several mistakes you made in both videos. You ate not doing your bird any favors if you get him killed or injured. Seriously, I'd you want to free fly your bird, get some professional training. Your bond with your bird is not enough to keep him safe. You have to understand the science behind free flight and the wild behaviors of your species of bird before you can safely free fly. Go to The Adventures of Roku on RUclips. He has a link to experts who do the training. You have been lucky so far. Luck doesn't last forever. If you really love your bird ad much as you say you do you owe it to him to get proper training.

Amber Munir, I love watching parrots free fly when it is done properly by someone who is properly trained with birds that are properly trained but this woman makes me nervous. If you are going to free fly your bird it should be in the best interest of the bird for his mental health. I don't think its in the best interest of her birds mental health or physical health if he is in danger every time he free flies. That is more stressful than not flying at all. I don't even subscribe to her channel and I get notifications about her new posts. I find them extremely stressful to watch. This woman acts like she has her head up her ass. She drives around LA holding her bird and video taping. Can you say Distracted Driver? Believe me there are enough of those in LA. If she doesn't kill her bird(s) she's going to kill someone on the street.
I question her motives for free flying her birds. I think it is more about her having something to post on RUclips than it is about her bird's health. I don't mean to be so harsh. I'm not a hater. I would like her to grow a brain and quit putting herself and her birds in danger. I just want them all to be safe. She also needs to question motives for free flying. It is a lifetime (the bird's not hers) commitment not a hobby. If she wants a hobby involving flying she should fly model airplanes not living breathing birds.

She does it more for attention than anything I think. And this incident WAS her fault and not the dogs'. Should they have been leashed? Maybe yeah, but if they aren't then she should have walked away or waited till they had left. I have seen lots of freeflight scenes, and most people take their birds to open fields. It doesn't have to be a public park where people walk their dogs but she goes there because this is where she can receive attention from people while there wouldn't be anyone around in an open field.

It’s just natural for a dog to chase birds. Why should they leash their dogs in a dog park?! Why do you not take the proper precautions and not free fly your bird with all those dogs around. It’s YOUR resposnsibility to make sure your bird is flying where there is nothin dangerous or distracting like this. No one elses. ANY dog would behave the same as those dogs did. It’s as instinctual to them as it is for birds to fly.

Aj MANE -IDGAF- Even if dogs were supposed be leashed there, it's retarded to fly a bird around them KNOWING that there was the danger. Very few dogs have seen parrots before, it should be expected that dogs will be interested in something they're unfamiliar with. To want to kill other people's pets based on your self entitlement and foolishness makes you look like a child. By the way, a moderately sized dog would definitely snap a macaw in half before the bird finds a way to kill the dog.

It got so close it seemed to me to have touched it's tail feathers, not sure. Two dogs followed them out the gate as they left. If the dog grabbed the bird, could very possibly have killed it. So I'd agree with "almost'.

Also, that’s funny that he says they aren’t aggressive when yeah I get they aren’t aggressive but they are a domesticated version of the wolf so they still got the instinct to hunt and chase. I think they were quite stupid to break the rules and it’s sad.

  • @sawdustyeggs
    @sawdustyeggs 6 лет назад +2

Okay so I've watched acouple videos of yours and just wanted to say, you're having a go at the dogs, and I know that these dogs are offleash. Plus that dog was friendly, just because it chased after your bird Hope, doesn't mean that its aggesive. Its their instinct to chase after something flying, if anything it might have been trying to play with your bird. Another thing is that why were so brainless to straight up stand by six offleash dogs, and just let your bird fly free, and not expect them to run after it. Its bloody common scene. My dog Torino who recently passed away was a English Stafichere Bull Terrier, and the breed is related to pitbulls, and bulldogs. She was one of the most sweetest dog ever, and she would never attack anyone, but if she saw some bird just fly over her, she would try to play with it, and run after it. Also you say that dogs are dangerous, and that because your bird is young, its gonna die, and it verywell can but seems as if your saying that birds aren't dangerous, and Me especially know that bird can quite infact kill a dog, or a human being. Now I know its seems that I'm picking the side that birds are bad, but I'm not picking any sides, as both could kill.
So I just hope that someone reads this and that they now know, if they don't already, that it wasn't the dogs fault nor yours, but the fact that you just didn't think first, or you just went up to the place of thedogs so you can make yet another video about how dogs a aggressive and birds aren't, or you're just doing so you make a big fuss aboutthat fact that your birds life at fault, by your own doing.

You should not have flew the bird with dogs off leash! You put him at risk! He is so beautiful!!! You should have asked them to put their dogs back on leash. The second place was way nicer for you two. It's beautiful to watch. Thanks for sharing. He loves belly kisses

What did you expect?? "Im gonna let my bird fly around all of these dogs and if he gets hurt, its not my fault one bit"
I barely let my cockatiel fly around when my rabbit is free roaming the house. Why on earth would you even consider it was a good idea to let your bird fly around a bunch of dogs.

The dogs are not aggressive AT ALL. They have a high prey drive. They were curious and naturally chased something they found interesting. They do it to squirrels, cats, etc. My dogs are very well trained and even off leash, they will come back immediately.

They aren't aggressive. Its natural hunting instincts. Maybe take your bird somewhere without dogs, its bound to happen...

" INCONSIDERATE OWNERS" HUH? SAYS THE PERSONE WHO BRINGS THEIR BIRD TO THE SAME PARK EVERY TIME AND KNOWS THAT THERE ARE DOGS OFF LEASHS "WILD INSTINK" SOMEONE NEEDS TO KNOCK SOME SENCE INTO THIS LADY!!!😡😡😠😠

To everyone hating. This is a base ball park, not a dog park. There was also a sign for them to be on leash(they could be charged for it) so don't say"the dogs need freedom! They don't need their leashes on" it's law for them to have it on in public places like this for safety of others and smaller animals. They were the ones in the wrong for doing that.

I understand, unfortunately you can't be responsible for their actions (jerks will be jerks), but the flip side is you can be for yours. if you saw running dogs you should've took precautionary measures to make sure she's safe. I personally wouldn't have been there especially with multiple dogs and the breed of them didn't help. all dogs saw was potential prey. But aside from all that, I'm VERY happy she's safe, thats whats most important :)

I love your videos.. and I totally agree they weren't being very smart but you do know that no matter how nice a dog is they still might go after a bird, its an animal dogs can be like that and You should have gone to a different park when they were there, that was close and risky!

You have to understand he is not aggressive he just wants to play with him Like when you run and a dog chases you he is not aggressive but the man was inconsiderate so I get your point but just don’t blame the dog is all I am saying
