I'm seeing this for the first time ever in 2020. Never seen it before. I'm a grown man. Bawling like a baby here. What an amazing woman. What a talent.
I remember that I used to watch Lambchop, Charlie Horse and Hush Puppy on TV when I was a little girl from my childhood, and The Shari Lewis Show was my most favorite TV show from my childhood 🐑 🐴 🐶
I remember when she died, I was five years old, I remember seeing it on TV with my mom and she said "Shari Lewis went to live in heaven because she got sick, but we can still see her on TV" and I asked her "how?" and she said "The Magic of Television"
I only ever saw Lamb Chop on VHS so I had a concept of “I can still watch it,” but I was 4 or 5 when Mr. Rogers died and didn’t know if they’d keep airing his show after he died.
My mom got me a Lamb Chop doll when I was 2, maybe 3 years old. Right around the time "Charlie Horse Music Pizza" was on the air. For years, I wondered why they stopped airing the show... then I saw Shari's guest appearance on "The Nanny" a decade later, and that's when I found out she passed on. The concept of death never crossed my mind at that young age, but I still think about (and miss) that doll... and Shari.
Wonderful if not bittersweet. Shari Lewis' last performance before she passed away, her own personal goodbye to everybody who loved her....and there were many who did. Thank you Shari...thank you!
It is hard to not cry whenever I see Sheri now. Her death stunned me. Her work with Lamb Chop & friends was wonderful!! RIP & thank you for making us smile.
I recently became interested in the history of Shari Lewis and her puppet Lambchop, and I’m tearing up at reading the comments and all the people who have been with this series since way back when. This whole thing is just that powerful that it’d make someone who’s only interacted with the series for a little under a month cry. So sad that Shari died, you are missed. Thanks for creating a beautifully innocent show.
Shari Lewis is still missed after so long. I do admit that I was one of those young viewers that watched "Lamb Chop's Play-Along" every morning on PBS. That was a fun show, as was the "Charlie Horse Music Pizza." Too bad that show didn't last long (it only ran like 23 episodes). As for this song, I think it's a perfect way to wrap up her career before her passing. There couldn't have been any other way possible. R.I.P. Shari Lewis... 😔
Chris Neufeld R.I.P. Shari Lewis. At least her daughter Mallory Lewis is taking over her place now while she’s in heaven watching down on us all because she’s gonna live a good live in Heaven now free from the cancer that made her very sick.
I feel like she doesn't get nearly enough recognition. It's a shame so much of her material was lost and that her characters didn't have an ongoing TV presence like Jim Henson's.
Shari Lewis was THE most accomplished ventriloquist, singer, dancer and, actress. She had it all, yet humility was her successful trait. She just loved what she did and it showed with every performance.
Thank you, Shari Lewis, for your gift of entertainment. I looked forward to Lamb Chop's Play Along many a morning as a little girl, and was thrilled when you guest started on The Nanny. You passed around the same time as my dad, so that time for me was especially sad.
you know this brings me back to when I was a kid growing up in the 90's and watching the lamb chop tv show and miss those simpler times it makes me think how much fun I have had back during my childhood it is hard to believe that it is over and now I am going on 23 and can't tell you were the time has gone but look forward to what is to come....
I loved lamb chop's play along as a little girl and still have some VHS tapes of it. She died when I was ten years old, and my grandmother clipped every single article from magazines and the paper for me. This song is so beautiful.
This is so emotional! I remember I've seen most of the episode of Lamb Chop's Play Along and Charlie Horse's Pizza Music and to think that they couldn't continue making another episode because of Shari Lewis' death, I had no idea as a kid! I stopped watching PBS around in year 2000-2001, so they thought me something very special so far.
I agree with all of it. I sure do miss her too. And now I'm on my way to becoming a ventriloquist just like her, she has become a role model and inspiration to all the people that is and are becoming a ventriloquist.
I grew up watching Lamb Chop’s Play Along and loved Shari’s puppets and the crafts and her other segments on the show! She reminded me of a unique aunt or grandmotherly figure! This is such a beautiful song! I was ten when she passed away, but I never saw this until now. Thank you!
Thank you Miss Lewis, for the short years you had in my childhood. I wasn't as lucky as my mom and grandparents, but you left an undeniable impact on my younger years.
I was quite young when Shari passed but her work has lived on in my heart over the years, she meant the world to me then and is still so special to me now. I had never seen this before, thank you for sharing. I’m heartbroken at the farewell but I’m so happy she was able to be there for her audience right to the end and she chose such a beautiful way to leave her TV audience. Thank you for my little time with you. I’ll never forget you. You have my infinite respect
Hi Everybody This Is Rae Wood's Son Adam Wood I Loved Shari Lewis Very Much Also And I Know I Was One Of Her Best Viewers And I Loved Her Very Much And This Is The First Time I Was Watching This Shari Lewis Video And It Was Making Me Cry So Often And Its Most Beautiful And The Most Saddest Shari Lewis Video I've Ever Watched In My Life
I was about 1 year old when I first watched Lamb Shop Play Along. And I fell in love with it. The last show I'd seen from Shari Lewis was Charlie Horse Music Pizza. And it was very interesting and awesome. I never knew that she died of cancer. Because that explains why I hadn't heard from her in a while. Plus, I was still a kid at the time. And I never understood of what's going on until now. I'm so glad that the Birthday theme for my 2nd Birthday was Lamb Shop. Because my parents knew that I love Lamb Shop Play Along. Thank u, Shari Lewis for those memories and educate us. God bless u always! RIP! I will always love and miss u and never forget u! 😢😘❤
I was 6 when Shari passed away. Now I have like 3 tapes of lamb chop’s play along recorded from ‘96 to remember her, plus the dvd Of LAMB CHOP’S SPECIAL HANNUKAH and SHARI’S PASSOVER SURPRISE
I still have recurring dreams of a woman who jumps (metaphorically) from one place to another singing a different song each time. Then she sings one more song in yet another place and then vanishes, and I am told I will never see her again. There’s no doubt in my mind that woman is a doppelgänger for Shari Lewis.
I remember MANY years ago seeing Lambchop as a kid, but never actually looked up her, Hush, Charlie, and Sheri until now, the characters are timeless and Sherri was amazing, knowing what happened to her after this song from the final episode is so sad… (You can hear her try not to break down at the first “grow and grow” part of the song because I think she knew this was the last thing and performance she was going to do.. Also imagine the kids back then growing up with her on TV (much like Mr. Rogers), watching this in 1998, and suddenly not seeing her again after this not even realizing watching this episode was the last you’d see Sheri and the gang until finding out she passed all this time years later, that must of hurt for the kids back then who now grew up finding that out… 😔 But as I said, she was wonderful, her daughter Mallory actually takes over the gang now, with the exception of Charlie Horse unfortunately as it strains her vocal chords.
To me, Shari had somewhat magical touches like Walt Disney and Jim Henson by bringing many iconic characters to television and books. (Sighs sadly) Y'know, there won't be nobody like those three people I mentioned and it's a shame that there aren't any celebrities out there like them. All three left us too soon! On the bright note, their spirits will live on.
I watched Shari Lewis and Lambchop and Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy when I was a kid during the Kennedy administration. I didn't know she was gone. It seems like just about everybody from my childhood is gone.
Shari Lewis and Fred Rogers were the gold standards in children's entertainment, bringing so much joy to kids and adults around the world, and giving children's television its best years.
Oh man, when the trio show up.. She's not performing any of them, she's got her arms around them instead, and lets go at the end. Probably reading too much into it, but... ow.
What those clips originally part of the segment, or were they added in? If they were added in, it wasn't right to take away from the good last look at Shari that segment was supposed to give us.
They were part of the original segment. Originally the song was meant to be sung to junior, but in light of Shari's illness the planned segment was changed prior to airing to be her singing to the audience with a clip-based retrospective of her life playing during it.
Mm. So it was changed in the cutting room. Still, leaving us with a long last look at Shari while she was still there would have been the wiser thing to do. Why was she supposed to sing this to Junior?
@@TyrekeCorrea In the episode itself Junior was moving on from The Music Pizza to attend college. So this was originally the gang's way to say goodbye to him with a montage of him during the song.
Prometheus Entertainments She died in 1998 and I was only 11 years old and still in the 6th grade. Shari Lewis will surely be missed by all her fans. Rest in Sweet Paradise Shari Lewis!
This was from the episode she insisted on filming despite her diagnosis. She died a little more than a month after she filmed this. I used to watch Lamb Chop's Play-Along as a kid, but never watched this show. She summed up her career in this final farewell. Just heard the song "The Song that Never Ends" before watching this. Good memories.
I do miss Shari Lewis. She was my favorite part of my childhood.
This song makes me wish I could jump into the video and give Shari a hug.
I'm seeing this for the first time ever in 2020. Never seen it before. I'm a grown man. Bawling like a baby here. What an amazing woman. What a talent.
im 27, and never saw this in 1998. Now that I did, I cant stop crying. thanks shari for all the wonderful memories

A touching performance. May God rest your soul, Shari.
Wonderful if not bittersweet. Shari Lewis' last performance before she passed away, her own personal goodbye to everybody who loved her....and there were many who did. Thank you Shari...thank you!
She filmed this right after she found out the news about her cancer... this makes me bawl. She redid this song three times to make it perfect.
It is hard to not cry whenever I see Sheri now. Her death stunned me. Her work with Lamb Chop & friends was wonderful!! RIP & thank you for making us smile.
Knowing that makes this sad song even more tragic. Her "good bye" to all the people she's meant something to throughout her whole career.
Shari had survived breast cancer 15 years earlier....only to succumb to uterine cancer...
I recently became interested in the history of Shari Lewis and her puppet Lambchop, and I’m tearing up at reading the comments and all the people who have been with this series since way back when. It’s so interesting. I lost my dad a few weeks ago and this song popped into my head! It’s a comfort to me!

A song meant to be for a part time employee going off to college. Instead, it is a swan song for one of the greats. RIP Shari Lewis
Impossible to not get misty-eyed.

That was a great song! Rest In peace Shari.
Thank you Shari for making my childhood a brighter place with Lamb Chop, and may you rest in the greatest peace
Bless her.. she was starting to get visibly sick while doing this.. You can tell she has lost weight.
Thank you, Shari, for my (and so many others') little time with you. There will never be another like you. I've always loved you and always will. RIP
Gosh when the puppets joined in I lost it. Imagine trying to get through this
It's sad that there are really no kid's entertainers like Shari Lewis anymore. Maybe be The Wiggles but they don't have the same magic ??
the world will always remember the song that doesn't end
That’s very true, unfortunately, children’s entertainers these days aren’t what they used to be like Sheri…
thank you i love you shari lewis
She died two months after i was born RIP Shari! u will be missed

This poignant ballad is not to be confused with the Beatles song of the same name. It's Shari's way of bidding farewell to her fans.
Hello Goodbye
😂😭
This segment was taped on Thursday June 18, 1998, just a few hours after Shari learned of her uterine cancer diagnosis.
My grandmother and her died four months apart. And it broke my heart

I'm praying for her

so sad😩😢😵😱😱😱😱😌😭😭😭😭😭
Anyone have an instrumental version of this song?
from 3:16 - 3:34... that's rough :(

1984 for breast cancer

was this from a tv show about Sharri?

2:36 where’s this clip from?
Oh, crap. Are we supposed to make coping with loss such a routine part of our lives?
Perhaps the worst part is that Shari looks more done-up here than she had in a long time.
