I went to China 3 years ago I spent three weeks there and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The food is honestly the best! The last day there was the day I first tasted a soup dumpling and it was so delicious I keep searching for a restaurant here in France that makes them. I could probably eat Chinese food for the rest of my life and ditch pizza, that's how much I love it!
LifewithAnnaBee they will cook the soup and freeze it in the cooler, once it's solid they cut it into smaller pieces and put it into the dumpling, when they steam the dumpling, the soup melt and become the soup. This is what I know, hope it helps :D
Practice making them... They're intimidating the first time but after you've made the first few of your first batch you start to learn fast. That or I'm just a quick learner in the kitchen.
my dad once wrote 'DTF?' in our family group chat and my mother replied "ok" and none of us had the heart to tell them that is definitely not what that acronym is used for lmao
I tried making Xiao Long Bao at home and I swear the skin is the trickiest to make. I almost gave up but I looked at how much it costed me to try and all the hard work I've put into assembling everything, I told myself I'd eat whatever will come out of the steamer regardless. Lol I appreciate soup dumplings from Din Tai Fung and other Chinese restaurants out there even more.
*me decided to make xiao long bao and searched how to do it them: it takes 3-6 months to learn how to do it and a year to master the craft me: oh. Okay nevermind then
I'm someone who doesn't like a lot of different foods. My palate is limited and most of it is really plain foods. So when I first tried xiao long bao from Din Tai Fung, it was amazing. I actually found a food that was delicious and different from my usuals. Now I order them whenever I can. I also get the chicken fried noodles. It's literally just those two things. Over and over again.
Their rice porridge is also delicious...I always order for the porridge everytime I got sick..the warmth of the porridge is feels like a mother's hug...love...
Holy shit din tai fung getting recognition!! Never knew it was a family company.. salivating over here tbh anyone else watch them through that glass window they always have??
The way you show eating XLB contradicts Din Tai Fung's recommendation. Also, love their tiny dumplings in steamed broth that they only serve on the weekends in So Cal.
I love Din Tai Fung!! My family and I saw it on TV and there are a few in the Seattle area and I live about 2 hours away from Seattle so we go all the time and we almost always go to Din Tai Fung.
Wut I usually do with soup dumplings is that I would bite a small hole and pour the soup into my spoon. If drink the soup then dip the dumpling in the sauce then eat it, sometimes with ginger sometimes not. I know some ppl so a small variation but this seems like how ppl generally do it, at least how my fam does it
Big ups to the people who actually make these foods. The ones who work hard...hope they are being treated right! Because these two suits saying things like "we" do this and "we" do that but we all know they aint gon get their hands dirty.
They said they grew in the restaurants and they had made thousands of dumplings. In a Chinese restaurant, I'm willing to believe they grew up getting their hands dirty. They probably don't now, not very often.
Its the Asian way, you want to take care of the business you need to start as a waiter/worker since young (primary school). I did so too, but ended up not taking the business as my elder brother is now taking it
Lmao, even in the biggest Asian businesses the owners force their heirs to directly get their hands dirty to understand the process. It's just a regular thing here.
If you were willing to pay like upwards of 10 times the price at your local Chinese Takeout, like the rates this places charges, I think your local place would be a lot cleaner too.
Tried din tai fung’s soup dumplings and it’s a little overrated. A little bland. I’ve tried other soup dumplings from small mom-and-pop places and they’re way better in terms of flavor and price.
Eh, that’s how it often goes. I love getting dumplings in small restaurants in China, but I’ll eat them frozen too. There’s something more personal about small shops, obviously. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t quality in what Din Tai Fung’s soup dumplings.
Well since they’ve practically mastered it they probably don’t mess up often and even so it’ll most likely be put back into another batch to be remeasured
I believe one of their locations is at Del Amo mall and let me tell you , those are the tastiest dumplings I have ever tried as well as the other food served in the restaurant but I have a special kind of love for those dumplings alone
Andrew Lee believe what you want but the best food will be where the food originated from. Keep your prejudice against China though I don’t care, that means for 小笼包 for me
OMG these soup dumplings are like one of the best foods in the world and I LOVE THEM SO MUCCCHHHH. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEOOOO. I’ve actually been to the Din Tai Fung im Hong Kong and it was AMAZING. I’m so glad I can see how they make those dumplings. Anyone who dislikes this is a dumb butt
Rachel Ding they could be pronouncing in a different dialect. As far as I'm concerned, they're only pronouncing "xiao" incorrectly (and even then, the pronounciation can be debated. Also, the americanization of the word usually sounds more like "shao" rather than "see-yow").
Salty Pyro Tato mmm i dont think so ot just sounds like a really strong american accent, no dialect sounds like that plus majority of asians in america learn normal dialect
I’m chinese and speak it fluently but when I’m speaking to English speakers i pronounce it that way too. It’s just weird to switch from chinese to English dialect in the same sentence.
Yeah idk why there are so many triggered taiwanese ppl in these comments it originated from mainland china and the guys in the video are chinese, either way they are the same just written differently
As a Chinese American who has never left the states, tasting Din Tai Fung's Xiao long Bao was a truly unique experience for me. It's flavor was out of this world and something special.
sometime though, go to shanghai, try the nan xiang ones, dont try the que one, try the one that is served in the restaurant (more expensive but much better) for me though Din Tai Fung does a good job in introducing the Xiao Long Bao to the world, but it tastes a bit bland
Them: We put the dough in the machine a couple times to knead it. Also them: *We don't like to use machines that make the process easier because it's so delicate*
I've tried XLB at the Din Tai Fung where it all started: in Taiwan. I must say, best food experience thus far. I missed it so much, that I went to one of their branches when I got back home to the Philippines. 😊
I ate Xiao Long Bao for the first time today from a din tai fung restaurant. They were soooo good. And especially since I was seriously hungover (Never drinking three bottles of soju on an empty stomach again...) they were... indescribable... I am not addicted to them and can’t wait to go eat more 💜
These type of dumplings always taste the best, in my opinion.
Justin Y. Ohm y fucking coowwww its u agaaaiiiiiinnn wtffff

Please have you found one?
I usually go to Din Tai Fung with my family during special occasions. Love their food there!
Wow, I always wanted to know how the soup was made in the filling. Awesome! One of my favorite Chinese dishes ever. 😍
LifewithAnnaBee they will cook the soup and freeze it in the cooler, once it's solid they cut it into smaller pieces and put it into the dumpling, when they steam the dumpling, the soup melt and become the soup. This is what I know, hope it helps :D
Pizza hunter nope, they make it with chicken feet (u can use gelatin if u want it easy and fast)
THE GAME BENCHMARKER wow, thanks for letting me know ^^
I think they meant how they put the soup in the dumpling, not how they made the actual soup.
Tang Cheng well thats how u put it,on gel form
ugh i wish i could eat dumplings as good as this
redknight64 me too
Practice making them... They're intimidating the first time but after you've made the first few of your first batch you start to learn fast. That or I'm just a quick learner in the kitchen.
I went there and it’s really awesome
MonkeyKing 2016 or Richmond, BC (Vancouver). One of the best Asian foods outside of Asia.
Dude literally go to any dim sum place and they have them
the amount of pride they take in making the dumpling is appreciated
my dad once wrote 'DTF?' in our family group chat and my mother replied "ok" and none of us had the heart to tell them that is definitely not what that acronym is used for lmao
SparkzMxzXZ what does it mean?
Plot twist: they knew
I tried making Xiao Long Bao at home and I swear the skin is the trickiest to make. I’d like to express to you my Fillings for this episode.

Stefania Raco - not on a dumplings episode ;)
Stefania Raco I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a pun
Stefania Raco woman... English is not my native tongue and even I got the pun there...
Stefania Raco *Whoosh
*me decided to make xiao long bao and searched how to do it
them: it takes 3-6 months to learn how to do it and a year to master the craft
me: oh. Okay nevermind then
that's my situation rn
“The way we make our skins is special” lol that’s how you’re supposed to do it lmao 😆
Throw away thousands?! I hope he means he ate them even if they arent that great lol. I'll eat okay soup dumplings. Still damn good probably lol
LoLAwesomechad 🙋🏻😁
Italia?
jessica zhu
Can't agree more. Maybe they recicle them somehow...
I mean as the inheritors of a tradition fueling a massive company I'm guessing they probably just threw them away D: you can only eat so many rejects
LoLAwesomechad
shut the hell up

Yeaa me too
Shinxeh sooo relatable I don't know why and Ramadan Mubarak
OMG I LOVE THAT RESTURANT!!! Thank you so much, Tasty! You made my day!
Oh the fond memories of my parents yelling at me to not touch the raw filling...
Their rice porridge is also delicious...I always order for the porridge everytime I got sick..the warmth of the porridge is feels like a mother's hug...love...
I actually went to one in Taiwan, and it was an amazing experience.
Hey, same! We ate at the one inside Taipei 101. Hell of a long wait, but it was worth it!
I see the love, the passion and the determination... no wonder this is one of the best Soup Dumpling ever in the history of mankind
I've had this, and it's one of my favorite foods. It taste so good and if you put the whole dumpling inside your mouth, it explodes soup of joy. 😂
4:03 if you grew up with din tai fung chefs every day your just lucky
It’s intriguing actually watching them through the glass at the restaurant
Holy shit din tai fung getting recognition!! Never knew it was a family company.. salivating over here tbh anyone else watch them through that glass window they always have??
me binge watching soup dumplings and too lazy to get up and actually eat them😭😭
growing up chinese i make a lot of steamed bao foods myself and its always so satisfying to see ur babies cook in the stacked up steamers
I've never had them before but they look delicious, I love Chinese & Japanese food over American food any day
Din Tai Fung is honestly on my bucket list of things to eat before I die.
They look rich
Correction: they are rich
Lol are you talking about the dumplings or the owners? Haha!
oeue yeah they worked their way up
It’s a top restraunt in the world
David V. It's a family business. They didn't "work their way up", but they did have to train to be fit to lead the business.
Please please PLEASE Din Tai Fung! Please come to Las Vegas! A restaurant there would be an instant success!!
omg I didn't know the 笼 meant basket and not dragon wtf i always thought it translated to little dragon dumplings LMAO
Me too lol, wrong type of long I think
Hope you didn’t tattoo that 😂😂😂
龙 is dragon. Looks similar but u can identify it easily
The traditional chinese for long is 龍 tho
They have different tones
Din Tai Fung is legit one of my favourite restaurants of all time.
That looks delicious ‼️
It IS delicious!
It is
Just visited Din Tai Fung today and had these :D
1:21 Who else found this satisfying?
Ali Saeed me
Not really... He kinda ripped the dough when he was cutting and it looked hard to cut...😕😕
شيف شكرالله Chef Chokrallah what are you doing here
to me, as a foreigner, chinese cuisine seems like heaven
Beautiful looking dumplings and
🍲 interesting story and recipe🍵
The way you show eating XLB contradicts Din Tai Fung's recommendation. Also, love their tiny dumplings in steamed broth that they only serve on the weekends in So Cal.
My grandma makes amazing soup dumplings
I have Din Tai Fung every year for my birthday..It my favorite. Last year i lived abroad and it was the first time i ate at Din Tai Fung alone lol
Who else scroll down to the comments while watching this video.
Abuzar Kazi me hhhh
HOW DID U KNOW
I pause the video to read the comments. Then I watch the video.
Modern Food Channel 😊
Daisy the Beagle 😉
YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY NEED TO OPEN UP IN TORONTO CANADA!!!! PLEASSSSSSSSSEEEEE ❤️
It takes a few years to master making a portion of dumplings and one minute to eat it!!!😴😢😝😭😊
I love Din Tai Fung!! My family and I saw it on TV and there are a few in the Seattle area and I live about 2 hours away from Seattle so we go all the time and we almost always go to Din Tai Fung.
DIN TAI FUNG IN TAIWAN IS AMAZINGGGGG
fav restaurant and xiao long bao💗💗 so glad tasty featured this

by far, my favorite Chinese food restaurant in San Diego. They should update the video to have all their staff have their masks covering their noses.
Big ups to the people who actually make these foods. The ones who work hard...hope they are being treated right! Because these two suits saying things like "we" do this and "we" do that but we all know they aint gon get their hands dirty.
Aqeelah Sadulla real food crafters are like this
They said they grew in the restaurants and they had made thousands of dumplings.
In a Chinese restaurant, I'm willing to believe they grew up getting their hands dirty. They probably don't now, not very often.
Its the Asian way, you want to take care of the business you need to start as a waiter/worker since young (primary school). I did so too, but ended up not taking the business as my elder brother is now taking it
Actually they probably worked there in their younger years, no way they would be allowed to inherit if they didn't know the craft.
Lmao, even in the biggest Asian businesses the owners force their heirs to directly get their hands dirty to understand the process. It's just a regular thing here.
The first time I had one of these was on a trip to China. Wandering around Shanghai and our lives were changed.
This is random but when I break the skin I chew off the top and drink the soup and then eat it...maybe that’s just me lol
Don't worry I do it like that too
I was lucky enough to visit the din tai fung in Hong kong. This was so amazing and great to know
I wish all the Chinese restaurants (and all restaurants really) looked as clean as this one here.
If you were willing to pay like upwards of 10 times the price at your local Chinese Takeout, like the rates this places charges, I think your local place would be a lot cleaner too.
True, but I also think that you shouldn't pay extra for hygiene. It should just be taken for granted, everywhere ;)
You shouldnt have to pay extra for a clean resturant, that how u get ur store closed by health department.
Never gonna get that in america unless you are willing to pay for it
True.
this is art ♥
Tried din tai fung’s soup dumplings and it’s a little overrated. A little bland. I’ve tried other soup dumplings from small mom-and-pop places and they’re way better in terms of flavor and price.
In Taipei they are more known for the variety in their menu than XLB. In So Cal, they are known for introducing shanghainese style XLB to westerners.
If u want GOOD soup dumplings go to hefei china, they are famous for soup dumplings like xiao long bao, its a delicacy there
where did you try it? ive found that the din tai fungs in taiwan are way better than the ones in the US
Din tai fung is still good tho lol
Eh, that’s how it often goes. I love getting dumplings in small restaurants in China, but I’ll eat them frozen too.
There’s something more personal about small shops, obviously. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t quality in what Din Tai Fung’s soup dumplings.
Their dumplings taste so good
Im so gonna get some xiao long bao at my local din tai fung tmr
I love din tai fung! It’s one of my favourite restaurants. The first time I had soup dumplings was at din tai fung in Jakarta!
Never had dumplings in my life
Humayra Hussein
You're missing out big time gurl!
Same
Like any kind? Or just these soup ones?
Humayra Hussein same
I feel bad.
every time i think of these my mouth waters
What a shame to throw away thousands of edible food..
Sadly I do that
tina andersen ☹️ why?
MonkeyKing 2016 I know right. They could’ve at least donated.
Theyve probably exagerated that part.
Well since they’ve practically mastered it they probably don’t mess up often and even so it’ll most likely be put back into another batch to be remeasured
WAIT DIN TAI FUNG?! OMYGOSH THEIRS IS THE BEST. Its heaven!!!
TAIWAN NO.1
Whoaa chill Tarzan, I knew that bruh but I just wanted to say tw no.1 is there a problem with u
MonkeyKing 2016 ya but the chain originated from Taiwan did you not watch the video
No it's a traditional Shanghainese dish😂
TAIWAN NUMBA 1
This is a mainland brand, and don’t fill your head up with only political ideas, just enjoy the food plz
*It’s almost finales*
Me: binge watching tasty video’s during Ramadan
It bothered me how they didn’t say it right... ;^;
I believe one of their locations is at Del Amo mall and let me tell you , those are the tastiest dumplings I have ever tried as well as the other food served in the restaurant but I have a special kind of love for those dumplings alone
The owners can't even pronounce xiao long bao properly or the restaurant's name
Tin thai fun
They pronounced it correctly? And I think they're canto but they're trying to say it in mandarin so i mean... they aren't wrong.
Heechul
Imagine being so arrogant as to correct the best xiao long bao restaurant chain on how to pronounce the thing they are famous for.
to be fair they're speaking in English and breaking into Mandarin would ruin the flow
I'm a Chinese, I ate the soup dumplings, and every type of dumplings. Let me tell you what, it's *PERFECT*
Din tai fung soup dumplings from the US arent even that great.. best xlb’s from US are from nyc
Andrew Lee the best soup dumplings are in Shanghai lmao you know, where they originated from?
Andrew Lee believe what you want but the best food will be where the food originated from. Keep your prejudice against China though I don’t care, that means for 小笼包 for me
OMG these soup dumplings are like one of the best foods in the world and I LOVE THEM SO MUCCCHHHH. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEOOOO. I’ve actually been to the Din Tai Fung im Hong Kong and it was AMAZING. I’m so glad I can see how they make those dumplings. Anyone who dislikes this is a dumb butt
Their pronunciation is making me cringe, at least pronounce the thing that you sell right!
Their English sounds native US, so it could be they don't know Chinese. That's not unusual in later generations.
Audrey Brigitta true but itwas REALLY butchered
Rachel Ding they could be pronouncing in a different dialect. As far as I'm concerned, they're only pronouncing "xiao" incorrectly (and even then, the pronounciation can be debated. Also, the americanization of the word usually sounds more like "shao" rather than "see-yow").
Salty Pyro Tato mmm i dont think so ot just sounds like a really strong american accent, no dialect sounds like that plus majority of asians in america learn normal dialect

I’m glad tasty is educating on Asian cuisine now.
More likes than views
Gessael Mora as always
It trigger so much
Y’all the mango pudding and mango boba at din tai fung is so good. When i was in Singapore i was so lucky cause i ate there every night for 3 days
Dumplings the food that you DUMP LIL THINGS into. Get it? Like if you do
in my opinion these are one of the best dumplings
OMG YES 鼎泰豐!!!
But I'm a bit disappointed you wrote 小籠包 in simplified Chinese since in Taiwan we write in traditional Chinese
Sherry 小笼包 originates from 上海 which is in china so of course they’d use simplified Chinese as that’s the writing form used in china
Yeah idk why there are so many triggered taiwanese ppl in these comments it originated from mainland china and the guys in the video are chinese, either way they are the same just written differently
Sherry characters u mean?
And Din Tai Fung's founder was born in China, so....
As a Chinese American who has never left the states, tasting Din Tai Fung's Xiao long Bao was a truly unique experience for me. It's flavor was out of this world and something special.
sometime though, go to shanghai, try the nan xiang ones, dont try the que one, try the one that is served in the restaurant (more expensive but much better)
for me though Din Tai Fung does a good job in introducing the Xiao Long Bao to the world, but it tastes a bit bland
OMG! These are my FAVORITE at Din Tai Fung! I have been craving these for so long! I think the universe is telling me it is time!
i've become obsessed with Tasty videos.. & this was a great one -- i love the concept & cant wait to watch/learn more!!
OMG!!! I LOVE THAT RESTAURANT!
Them: We put the dough in the machine a couple times to knead it.
Also them: *We don't like to use machines that make the process easier because it's so delicate*
That is hella hard for a few bites, but I do appreciate it the craftsmanship.
we NEED THIS in Egypt pleaaaase !!!!
Incredible inspirational and beautifully handmade food item. 😍😍👏 Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.
I've tried XLB at the Din Tai Fung where it all started: in Taiwan. I must say, best food experience thus far. I missed it so much, that I went to one of their branches when I got back home to the Philippines. 😊
I've ate them before! Tastes just perfect😍😍😍
0:09 0:16 WOW, Aaron and his grandpa surely look alike. I almost thought they're the same person..!
I ate Xiao Long Bao for the first time today from a din tai fung restaurant. They were soooo good. And especially since I was seriously hungover (Never drinking three bottles of soju on an empty stomach again...) they were... indescribable... I am not addicted to them and can’t wait to go eat more 💜
We NEED one in Chicago!
they look so much like their granddad, it's remarkable!
Those dumplings look SO GOOD!
Live in singapore and eat at din tai fung often. Fucking heavenly. The fried rice is also amazing.
I used to work for dtf and i assured you the quality is top notch!!!
This is my favorite restaurant! Awesome to see it on Tasty
This video made me cry. Din Tai Fung is the best. Period
In Thailand they served Tomyam Soup Dumpling and I was blown away. It was around 5$ per basket but it worth every bites
I have one of these in my local mall! You can watch the people make dumplings while you wait for your table!
Wow, I actually made these with my parents as a childhood, and I really love them! I still do!
Din Tai Fung back when I went there was packed! But dang worth the wait after tasting everything. Love it there
