Was having a real mental / physical block initially on the strumming pattern. And then it was suddenly there and locked in! Thank you, good sir, for doing this.
thank you frank, Ive wanted to learn this since Wembley arena, i was twelve then still just as in love with england keep my bones as i ever have been. thanks x
I've been listening to this song a lot lately, it's been one of my absolute favourites for years now but now more so than usual, it reminds me of good times and normalcy, of dreams and wanderlust. I'll be practising my pick strumming and palm muting now. Thanks a lot for the tutorial
Frank learning to play some of your music has been a huge inspiration! If you ever do another of these videos I would absolutely love to know some of the detail behind "Redemption"!
Such a pleasure to watch. I am such a mediocre guitar player but always learn from watching your tutorials... even just a little trick like strumming a different way is so fun to try! Thanks for the video! Also your adorable❤
If you want a real challenge, check out the Wolfgangs Vault video of this from 2011, not sure if Frank drank too much coffee, or someone slipped him some speed or something, but it's a totally different beast.
"play a C chord, and then stick a little finger on the top string, you have a high thing" :'D i'm friggin howling! and it's pretty much the old Noel G trick, most Oasis tunes use that note and the one directly on the string above. (I play but no nothing with regards to theory or note location XD)
Thank you for taking the time to do this 👍 can any help with the strumming pattern when the song opens up to the outro sections at about 9.47? Struggling to get this bit of the song perfected, it seems like a simple up/down pattern but doesn’t sound right when I do this
3 days, 2 blisters and a dead capo later. I can finally manage the hammer on without scewing my right hand rythm. (capo is because stuff tuning in and out of eb)
strange, reminds me of a time i went to a pub in exeter, met a girl named amy and went back to her house and i slept beside her, she woke up screaming in the middle of the night. not sure why, might just be me
Well not excuse not to give it a go now. Always wondered if the Sleeping Soul of the country is connected to your band's name The Sleeping Souls? Which one came first?
@@andrewlewis5668 Yeah I think so, he talked about this song on his fairly recent tour where everything was stripped back. Think the Newcastle show just gone on sale.
You lovely gentleman, you. Went in for a tutorial from some random, and found it from the man himself. Good on ya, Frank. A man of the people.

I don't play guitar. I didn't follow a word of this. But I love the care, the attention, the kindness and the song.
Not a guitar player but sharing music like this is so important, especially now! Thanks for this Frank

One of my favorite all time songs! Thank you for sharing and can’t wait to see you back in the States!
This is one of my favorite songs ever. So glad to see this tutorial! I really need to pick up a guitar and start learning just for this!

Just started learning this today! Wish I’d started learning sooner but here we go!! One of my favourite songs ever… second only to Round Here by CC 😝
This is so surreal to learn and play along with the man himself! Thank you Frank
Truly an amazing song, watching this makes me realize how much of the other parts of the song can be heard in just the chords played by one guitar.
Thanks man, just learned to play this. Love the chord progressions
Thank you for this. The song has always resonated with me and I've wanted to play it myself but the tabs have never helped as much as this
Late to the party, but I'll nail this if it bloody kills me!
This is one of my favorite songs to play. Took me a few days of practicing the rhythm, but it sounds great once you get it.
I grabbed my guitar after 7 years, just 3 days ago to play this song, and now I see this :D thank you Frank
One of my favourite Frank Turner songs! Not sure if im ever gonna nail that right hand though... Thanks for the video

Nice. Now can you teach me how to sing the high notes? 😀🎸🤟🏻🎶

Interesting to see this - I always assumed it was all downstrokes in the verse.
Has anyone else noticed that these Try This At Home videos are recorded in a single take? Not one cut, no B-roll.
"Now anybody can take this stage..."

Lol
Are you still having dreams?
in the chorus, when you wrap that thumb for the F are you letting it ring or muting?
it’s for muting!
@ 3:32 he says to play it
Well not excuse not to give it a go now. Always wondered if the Sleeping Soul of the country is connected to your band's name The Sleeping Souls? Which one came first?
As far as I know, the lyrics came first, and the band is indeed named after that line.
He said on a recent livestream that the lyric of this song is where the band got their name
While we're on the subject of the lyrics -- is the "Bob" who's driving Bob Dylan?
@@andrewlewis5668 Yeah I think so, he talked about this song on his fairly recent tour where everything was stripped back. Think the Newcastle show just gone on sale.
Andrew Lewis yes, he mentions Bob Dylan in the opening lines.
Now I know what I'm doing today.
I am such a noob nooooooo
ahhh that strumming is annoying to get down jeez louise
