With a special note of thanks to Seth Neumann, who helped light up the signal for this spotlight.
In this product spotlight, we take a close look at the Hooded Modern Bi Directional Signal from Atlas Model Railroad Company. This model represents a modern prototype signal that can be found along many rights-of-way in North America, and has three distinct LEDs in each signal cluster.
From the Atlas website:
There is no single model railroad accessory that captures the essence of prototypical railroading more than an operating signal system. Whether standalone or as part of an integrated system, a working signal adds both visual and operational interest to your railroad.
The Atlas All Scales Signal System enables you to provide realistic information to your train crews in a simple, yet expandable way. Our growing line of signal heads, masts, and bridges spans most common modeling eras, and are easy to install on your layout. The signals feature true scale dimensions and details, and are available in single and double head arrangements, as well as several multi-track bridge configurations. Regardless of scale, all Atlas signals now utilize a small standardized connector and separate cable to connect to the signal control boards, minimizing the impact of installation on a layout with existing scenery.
Editor's note: the listed price on the Atlas website was changed shortly after the video was recorded. At the time of this text update, the current list price is $47.95.

That is a very nice product
The signals look great I’ll have to get a couple.
And thank you for the demonstration. 🤓
Great presentation. Thank you.
Great demonstration. Signals are a great addition to any layout.
Thanks for the review. I just ordered two of these for my layout.
I never met an Atlas product I didn't like! While I have no need for these post-modern hooded signals, I am a big fan of their NYC G-Type models. Except for the head, the models are built and work the same. I would love for Atlas to make a B&O color position light signal (with cool white LEDs for the Lunar Restricting on the main cluster and warm white for the orbital markers) and a PRR position light signal with amber lights. Single head on a mast only for those two.
Of course I jumped on that signal... that makes 72 functioning signals on my layout... I had a good time Operating on Dave Stanley's layout last week.. jus stunning.. DD. 😜🤗
Good stuff. We need to talk to you about your new book!
Thanks for the demo. Nice
You bet!
Way cool...
I have the late era ones on my layout and they work great the whole system is easy to use for not very mechanicaly included guy’s like me
What resistors did seth use to light this up? Atlas is almost blatantly ambiguous on what is required!!!!
You do not use resistors to light something. If I remember correctly, we used a 9V battery with a 750Ω resistor in-line.
That would cost me an estimated $43 including tax. Atlas can keep their block signals.
Is this
Is this available in N Scale ???

Remember that "Darth Vader signal" is always pejorative.
These are not "type G"...
Not to nitpick but this is not a Type G signal.
It looks like a Type D to me, but Atlas does, in fact, call it "Type G" on their website just like I said.
This is not a type G signal. A type G signal has the lights arranged in a triangular pattern.

Your light color is off, because your white balance is adjusted wrong on your camera.
The color looks appears less vibrant than in person because the intensity of the light combined with the distance from which it is being shot. The picture is overexposed where the light is on the screen, resulting in a washed out look where the color appears. If I had wanted to expose for the light itself, the area surrounding the LED would have been way darker even with the studio lights on.
@@tsgmultimedia It is darker. Look at your video.
@@lesliesavage9229 OK if you say so. Maybe you could explain to me how to adjust the white balance on the camera I was using and how to set up the lights that were being used.
