- From banning players for a simple oversight, charging extortionate prices for items that aren't worth the money, all the way to lying to community creators about how free-to-play friendly an update is, Clash Royale has been through a lot throughout the past year. This video covers the exponential decline and downfall of Clash Royale in its full (or lack of) glory. Once a flourishing game filled with innovations, the community is now fed scraps from the bones of the uncaring development team whilst being forced to cope with lacklustre updates time and time again, with content creators shifting away from covering the game whilst other Supercell games such as Brawl Stars, Clash of Clans & even Hay Day prosper.

To prevent the spreading of misinformation and to correct a slight mistake of mine, I should clarify that the Lucky Drop Glitch (Reroll Glitch) was iOS exclusive due to unknown reasons, probably something to do with Clash Royale's servers being horrible as always. I should also add that instead of Supercell losing a lot of money, they only lost an estimated thousand dollars, mainly thanks to the glitch in question being contained hastily. Ironic, considering there exists a lot of other active glitches in the game that haven't been patched just yet but ah well, anything to protect their precious piggybank!
Update 2: New situation has developed, thankfully, the part about people being permanently banned has de-escalated into a monthly ban, furthermore, it seems this video is being exposed to people again thanks to the new glitch involving thousands of legendary cards and champions being pulled from chests thanks to Clash Royale's unwillingness to publish balance changes alongside a maintenance update. From what I know, the situation is still ongoing but thousands of players managed to upgrade their cards for essentially free whilst others missed out, it'll be interesting to see how Supercell responds...

In all honesty the worst change of all was getting rid of allowing players to play any mode, like x7 and x3 publicly.
Meanwhile clash of clans manage to stay relevant for 11+ years

If clash of clans sticks to their plans that they made in their video where they address all problems with their game with honest responses (which clash royale should do) then I only see Clash of clans going up. thank god I have never spent a single dime on clash royale though
Clash royale is better at giving players the illusion that they're winning, you can avoid losing and that's why low IQ people keep playing it

Princess tower levels don’t technically do anything anyway. You can’t level up towers past the king tower, but the princess tower instantly levels up when the king tower does.

The fact that i have to scroll for a solid second in the shop to get to the daily deals tells a lot about how cash hungry the game is.
The main reason Clash of Clans has still remained strong is that Clash of Clans has not doubled down on monetization. The recent Evo nerf teaser is just proof that they are desperate to try to keep their playerbase. It's sad, because I have been playing Clash royale and while the game is mostly fun in the side modes, the main ladder is so bad that i have much more fun ignoring it
Even the time clash of clans increased the gold pass price, they compensated by vastly increasing the value you got out of it. Even now, I am pretty sure they are looking for alternative methods of making money so they can change some of the core gameplay designs to be more player friendly

I like the idea of it, but they are so greedy with micro transactions and the game is constantly balanced in a way where you are forced to spend money to do well. It’s not fun at all to play this game anymore

Stepped into arena 9, got 3 battles in a row where my enemy had cards 4 levels above mine. Absolutely not.

I can’t stand clash royale anymore. Raising the level cap again means that I am now punished even harder for trying to level up and practice any new deck I want to try. The game genuinely puts so much pressure on players to never for any reason play anything other than the same deck they’ve already been playing for years. It’s so fucking boring. Maybe I don’t want to play golem anymore supercell! So stop fucking raising the level cap and evolutions that force you into the same deck you already play because playing anything else costs too much time, effort, and or money! On top of that, the game is so obviously balanced in a way that those who pay money are in a far better position than those who play for free. How am I meant to afford the new knife tower troop so that I can have a meta loadout??? It’s so terrible and I don’t think they will ever attempt to fix it in the slightest

Its absolutely baffling how despite being under the same company, the sheer difference between the clash of clans and the clash royale team. The CR team is greedy, rarely listens to players and is all around pretty bad. Wheras the clash of clans team is generally really well liked and most of the time if they mess up, they are honest about it and rectify it. More so, they are very open and receptive to the community. Idk how two polar opposite team philosophies exist under the same company, but its wild. If the CR team took some notes from the clash of clans team, they might be better

the fact the game is struggling to now draw in new players without essentially fronting extremely pay to win packs really does go to show that the game is lost and probably won't be redeeming itself anytime soon - i hope they find a sense of direction as strip away a lot of the scummy stuff and clash royale is a really enjoyable casual game but i will never touch ladder until they nerf the best card in the game, the credit card

I just recently began playing CR again after not touching it ever since i was in middle school (for reference i am a senior now). It took me under a week to realize just how DISGUSTINGLY pay to win this game is
I wanted to come back but after seeing how disgustingly the game has fallen down with NOW LEVEL 15 CARDS WHICH IS WORTH MORE TIME GRINDING FFS. I was level 14 when I left the game with which maxed out deck and now I have to get to level 15 WHICH IS SO HARD !!!

as someone who has been here sense the first few weeks of clash and stayed the whole time, and has wrote multiple papers on it. i can say its either gonna die soon completely or its gonna fix itself within a year. but with how theyve treated me and many others i believe its already dead. so long CR its been a fun ride, but unless you fix your issues your gonna die like your mini brother.. loved our time and will miss this.

Every time they make a "f2p" update they take away something vital for f2p players. Losers update? Chests from 2v2 battles. Lucky drop? Wild cards from shop. Theyre doing it on purpose, pushing boundaries. Frankly there shouldve been more noise made about the wildcards like with the chests
I quit after the diamond pass
I recently reinstalled CR after being off for over a year. I one one latter match, due to me being one level higher than the guy and completely countered his deck. The other six games I played straight were of lvl. 15 max two evo card tryhards that my two lvl14 cards couldn't contend with.
I uninstalled it again to save both my phone and my sanity.
I remember playing CR back in 2017 and playing with my friends in high school and would just play spam decks to see just how much we could pump out, and seeing how much its devolved and become so much microtransactions is just, kinda sad

I’ve been playing clash royale since before global launch, during the beta. It frankly feels disrespectful that the game doesn’t even give its most dedicated players an ounce of respect by sparing them from the constant awful shop offers. I dedicated 8 years of my life to clash royale, and this is what we get? Unbelievable.
The worst part is that the clash royale shop is full of manipulations tactics. The daily deals and the daily free gift are in the shop tab at the bottom, forcing the player to scroll through all the special offers every day. This is unlike clash of clans where you are never “forced” to view the shop at all.
Don’t even get me started on the elite wild scam store. You might think you’re smart by purchasing the third, most valuable deal. However, that’s exactly what they want you to do. The third deal is in money and they provide 2 crappy deals to trick you into thinking the last one is good.
I find very boring that the decks you play against are all the same spam of overpowered cards on level 15 instead of the past unique decks that were made with creativity.
I am just sick of Hog Rider-Evo Firecracker-Mega Knight-evo Battleram decks. Its just soulless
I used to play this game religiously back in high school, but once Clan Wars II and Pass Royale were added, my interest plummeted. Level 14 and 15, and Evolutions is what truly made me leave Clash Royale, and I don't regret sticking with Brawl Stars in the slightest. That developer team actually cares about its community, and have been adding great F2P changes to make the game enjoyable for everyone. I don't blame Drew for moving away from that dumpster fire whatsoever.

@@randomguy8800 for me with deck level 12.5 it takes 1 month to collect 45-55k. 25 or 35 from pol and 20k from shop, cos every week 5k for 100k gold. Also you can use 4 legendary tokens / month to get more
@@randomguy8800 you can max one deck from 0 to 15 level in 8 month or so, if you are decent (can make 7-9 wins in classic challenge consistently)
meanwhile clash of clans gets better every update and they actually listened to the community a lot of times and changed stuff after it got called out (like recently the new hero ore distribution that got better) or that they hard cap the max time a building can take to upgrade nowdays so we wont end up at 30 days at some point

Current f2p casual (7063 trophies), everyone at this level has evos, lvl 15 and already maxed out tower troops. Rarely get matched into another f2p player, this game is pain rn

One time I had to scroll a lot just to reach the shop where you get free things. This is nuts, at this point put ads between offers.
Also, now you can use wild card on tower troops, but you cannot buy them from the seasonal shop no more.

I stopped taking the game seriously after the introduction of level 14. I was getting stomped left and right by maxed out decks while I could barely get 2 cards to par with 13. I came back after the introduction of the duchess and now I just mindlessly play the game whenever im bored. Don’t care about progression, since I know I won’t get anywhere in a meaningful amount of time. Honestly it’s kinda fun that way, just get a thrill of a close match every now and then and log off. Though it’s really sad and disheartening how bad it’s gotten over the years. Wish it wasn’t like this.
Meanwhile CoC has actual value offers, I'm a TH10 and there was an offer of 1200 gems for nearly 1/4th of their original price plus two Builder potions, the difference between CoC and CR is insane
The game is so frustrating to play now. I quit because it makes me so angry, but the last straw was the “free” 500 gem ever by that disappeared before I could claim the prize… only to be replaced an hour or two later by an event that wants you to play to earn the right to pay gems for the tiers. It’s really sad because back in 2017-2018 I really loved this game. Even in 2020 I still had love for this game but my enjoyment simply died in late 2023-early 2024, I don’t want to say I’m 100% hopeless because this is genuinely a massive part of my life but I simple can’t enjoy the game anymore
CR has been doing well lately actually. It's been horrible though for the past 3-4 years. Just recently after the lucky drop update it's gone uphill.
this video was scripted when the lucky drop was still terrible, it's a good addition don't get me wrong and i have pulled some good stuff, but it comes at the disadvantage of wildcards being completely removed from the season shop, with it just being replaced with random cards - rng overpowers flexibility once again, which sucks as that's arguably what killed clash mini, too

Nah das cap since the update i only got common and rare drops and about 2 epics its garbage rates i cant upgrade the cards i want either cant upgrade my tower troops im just stuck in limbo after playing for 6 years as f2p i cant even make champion because the only decks they use now is cheap spell cycle or just cheap decks that they just defend and chip the whole game basically i cant even get the resources to max my cheap cards to progress i think ima just quite and go play brawlstars

also I forgot to mention it and I wish I did but when it comes to the wildcard removal, I find it extremely scummy how the c.r devs straight up also removed the legendary wildcards from the season shop to make way for the dagger duchess, yes, earning them was already hard for f2p players but that felt like the nail in the coffin for any sort of flexibility that exists in the game, you either buy the stuff in the season shop and deal with it or you miss out without any flexibility or middle road now, which sucks for pretty much everyone

The end of March this year marked one year since I quit the game and while I've missed the gameplay itself sometimes, I have not regretted leaving the game.
I hope this game crumbles and falls, there's no excuse for a game to ever be pay to win.
The day when Pass Royale became Diamond Pass is when I knew Clash Royale would die
Awesome video! The incompetence of the clash royale team is truly shocking to me. I had quit clash royale for all of 2023 and was shocked when I spoke with my friend, who was still playing, about the game. When he told me about evolutions and how there was now a diamond pass as well as a gold pass, I knew the game was done for. I decided to come back and start playing again, and to be honest, the charm is still there. The problems outlined in this video, however, are very much prevalent. I’ve been with this game since launch, and it’s very sad to see it go downhill like this.
I've been playing Clash Royale since the day it came out and I've always been free to play. After I got to 9000 trophies I decided to make an alt account and see how long it would take me to grind up to 5000 trophies. I couldn't get past arena eight because of all the pay to win players that were there. The greed that has overrun clash royale and the fact that some of the OG devs are leaving make the downfall of clash royale even more depressing especially for OG players.
As someone who have been following the meta for quite so long, it would be appropriate to say that balance changes and release of evolutions also convert people to spend more money on game. For example recently they stated that (evo) firecracker and archers die to arrows, which also conter bomber and bats. This is to directly shift meta to arrows and then they add evos such as musk and ice wizard which will be stronger because their normal vertions are weak, so that people can invest poison/fireball.
Recently, only 6% persentage of people maxed out little prince and according to my research, they generally nerf at %8-10.
Another theory is the usage of an improved IA to calculate the most profitable way to shift meta with addition to complex systems such as tower troops and evolutions. For example previous month, it was drill meta now it is tank and the other month, it will be cycle.
Just quit bros, I know the thrill of winning and designing better strategies, but I have sworn to not touch competitive game other than friendly wars with my friends.

Ive been playing cr since day one, i did not like the lvl 15, nor do i care for diamond pass but i still buy it. I still enjoy the game but its easier now to not play it as much.
Evolutions and these tower troops now is turning me off.
Before this anyone can get off the game for a year or more even and come back and still keep up and enjoy the game and get on right away.

i hate this situation so much. ive dedicated so much time and i really enjoy the game as a almost totally free to play player (i bought 2 passes back in like 2022 or something, around the mighty miner release). I've sunk so much time in it and I'm nearly at crown level 15 and have all but 3 cards level 15 too, but everything the game is doing is bad for its health and not even that profitable. and your right. I've not watched as much clash content as i did prior to level 15

Everybody above 6500k has full lvl 14 decks and its stupid because their skill didnt get them there with their mirror meganut spam its their wallet and they're stuck there now because they're not good enough to push any higher
The new balance changes (almost every evo got very nerfed) give me a bit of hope, keyword a bit. At this point I can't even really see the light at the end of the cr tunnel tbh.
Feel like I should point this out given the recent topics of discussion. More times than not the DEVS aren’t the issue they literally just work on the game it’s the higher up and “creative” execs that make these decisions so don’t blame the devs blame the higher ups and supercell themselves
As someone who played the game literally since day 1 from release its sad to see what it has become as it used to be one of my favorite games
One thing i see few complain about is the events, and how it begs you to play, or are essentially punished because you need to unlock evolutions and stuff using the tokens. The game feels like a job that you dont get payed for.
And, clash of clans is turning this dead leaf now too.
Progression in CR feels like trying to get a million dollars by scavenging for coins on the street.
The funnest thing I do on CR is play the classic challenges, where I play any deck I want and have equal levels to any opponents.
For me, the main problem is that they masively improved progression with magic items and book. then they realised they aren't making enough money from offers and such as you could max one card with a single book of book from the pass for a few dollars, so they nerfed it, but in a really scummy way

I’m so glad that all of this is coming to light, I’ve been under the impression for the past year that this game has slowly but surely been falling off for a lot of. It seems that they are more driven by revenue, then genuine player feedback. Their ignorance and lack of attention to this game will eventually be what puts the nail in the coffin..

Phenomenal video, you make good points. I would only like to make a point that the cost of evolutions that come out are very well made. Why you may ask? Look at the supply and demand grapf. The demand (the mental need for getting evolutions) is higher from the start of the evolution. The cost then falls over time as the demans falls and the so called supply increases. I dont approve of them essentially scamming people but the same thing was with Prime. I remember when it came to my country, its cost was 7€, over time as the hype wore off, it has fallen to 2,5€ in some stores. The fall of demand is higher in video games hence the sudden changes in price of eg. Evolutions.
For me, the beginning of the end was when they released Clan Wars 2 almost 5 years ago now.
The old Clan Wars system was far better and very few updates after Clan Wars 2 added much to the game.
Haven’t spent a dime on the game since the Update for Losers. I know it’ll get better, but when? Who knows.
Its so weird to me how they have the gotta get as much money as possible before this game shuts down,when in all possible options this game should last for years! Making them twice as much money!!they are going for quick cash not effective cash,and its sad,but its the greedy companys fault

i might have to make a separate channel for that but I do generally recommend RUclips tutorials, it's not as intimidating as it looks, trust me! (I managed to re-learn the program in two days whilst making this video lol) but if you've tried RUclips tutorials and they haven't worked then maybe a guide will be appropriate at some point, we shall see!

This game used to be so good, it's sad what happened to it. I've moved on to Brawl Stars, hopefully that game doesn't get the same treatment eventually. The monster eggs being purchasable loot boxes is kind of worrying since it goes back on the reason boxes got deleted. At least starr drops are mainly obtainable through playing the game and are rarely a part of purchases. I hope they are careful.

I use to play it all the time when the game first came out. But they made huge changes like the gold one and it just wasn’t the same. I had to grind harder for the stupidest things. Mind you this was back in 2016 - 2018.
If it weren’t for the fact I like my clan, I would’ve left a long time ago. Even then, I’m very tempted to disregard that.
So, as a someone that played since before global release while stopping for periods of time what truly annoys is when new content is locked behind paywalls/long time walls, evolutions are often made as cash grabs and tge new nerf prove that, but they can also be fun to play, the problem is that unless you pay you have to basically wait/grind for 6 seasons (unless the shop has shards of the evi you want, then it's 3) to get one and that puts you both at a disadvantage but also sucks the fun out of you since you are watching all other players play with the new content while you can't for like 3 months at a minimum, this is becoming worse with the increase of evo released.
Something else to add is also that the 2 evo slot at lv 15 is bs since you need to basically reach end game to make use of it, and to reach it you will have to fight people that have it and thus have both level and 1 more evo advantage that makes the match more unfair, it's cool to experiment with 2 instead of 1 evo but makes the experience worse for those that are lv 13/14 king tower.
