I've only recently gotten into aesthetic builds after my brothers started playing too. This is the first one we made together, though instead of am aviary we made it into our starter base with pteranodon perches. You've got a great eye for design.
For those struggling to place the fence foundations diagonally on console, a pretty easy way that I’ve gotten to place them is stand on top of your previously placed fence foundation and look down. You should be looking at the end of your previously placed fence foudantion. Then crouch. It was MUCH easier to place it diagonally after that. You’ll still need to look for the snap but it’s much easier. When I was trying to do it any other way when I found the snap it’d place the diagonal fence foundation vertically or some other direction. So frustrating. If anyone is still watching this video, I hope this helps.

@x0shadowless0x Gaming I'm having the same issue, have to leave them there. Not sure where I went wrong. Edit : Correction I was able to remove the sloped wall after I placed all the slopes (3 or 4) and everything connected up on both sides, try that!
Just hang a thatch wall to the right of it and then place the sloped roof. Make sure that the roof overlaps into one of the other sloped roofs. That way you can remove the thatch wall without demolishing anything
As for fence foundation placement I used the long neck rifle to put a crosshair on my screen then point at the very end of the the Foundation you're snapping to and cycle through the snap points till you get it
I started playing this game about a month ago. I'm really drawn towards the crafting more than any other feature of this game. I'm in the process of building my first metal base and looked up how to build a roof entrance for my fliers and this was the first link in the results. It's really amazing the imagination people that play this game have and that this game allows them to build such incredible structures.
Was this modelled of one of those garden bird houses that old people have on their lawn? Because that's what it reminds me of. I mean that in a good way, I love those things! 🐦🕊🦉

Your builds are awesome! I have a few already built and many others saved for future reference! This build however has stressed me out to the Max. I couldn't get the diagonal fence foundations to work, finally got them done and now I can't get the stone fencing on the inside of the wall to work... no matter which angle I put it on, it always breaks the wall...
First try I rage destroyed trying to get the angled fence foundation. Second try I rage destroyed after collapsing a section with the inner sloped roof/wall suggestion... Third times a charm I feel. Love the builds, thanks for posting.
If anyone finds this more recently (like me) tip to make the diagonal foundation build easier; I switched to stone. I could see them better and they seemed to link up easier for me. Good luck!
I tried this and I agree, much easier to see! Although, it still didn’t fix my problem 😢 (I’m on PC btw) the fence foundation just doesn’t wanna go diagonally. It’ll go in any and every direction but that one 💀
@alexdraws0145 if you are flying, land and look at where the end of the piece you want to connect to. I couldn't get it at all when flying but walking I was able to.
Finally finished mine on xbox!! Looks amazing, but did take a bit of time to get perfect. Here's a few tips for those not able to fly around like him: 1. I made a ladder all the way up the middle to the top and left it until the end when you put up the rope ladder. - this allows for you to go up easier to build 2. The diagonal fence foundation is a pain but just try to make the camera look as close as you can to his and what I do is spam the change snap point button until it goes through all the options, then move VERY slightly. For me the harder one was the one after the diagonal. Got it figured out by seeing that the highlighted fence was snapping to the end just at the wrong angle and just kept changing the snap point. 3. I used thatch roofs to get the wooden walls on the top outside rim, place one, go stand out on it, and look back to build the wooden walls 4. I had no idea how i was going to do the stone railings at the end around the bottom of the cage, I found that a Rex works amazing here and is the perfect height. Just pull up straight n slow and take your time 5. I messed up some but never re-started from scratch. If you mess up one section of a wall you can fix it, just rebuild the thatch walls and back track. Also make sure the connecting stone ceilings that have to be overlapped are symmetrical- you can check by looking below, there should be two parallel lines close together underneath where the big doors are.
Any tips on how to put the walls on the ceilings? At the part that the overall walls etc are done but can’t seem to place walls for the stone fences and really confused
Everyone is complaining about the snap points and I’m over here raging at how many times I died falling off of this thing.... 😂😂🤣. Snap points were easy when you got the hang of it. Awesome build my only gripe with it is every time I land an Argy inside and dismount I get clipped through the ceiling and can’t move at all. Another 2 fence high (one on lower level one on higher) would’ve solved this problem I think. However I am definitely not restarting this build again just for that lmao. Oh and also, I added another stone ceiling outward at the front and back entrance you can land first before opening the dino gateways. When trying to open it on the Argy the doors push you to the side and you have to circle around again. Not a huge deal just became a bit of a nuisance to me. As I said one more row of stone ceilings fixed this issue. I LOVE your builds man, they are so difficult for me to do in single player without admin controls but im addicted to building them. Lol. Itll take me a lifetime but im gonna knock out every single build you have on here. And as others have said try to work on interior tips. Im terrible at dressing the inside of these builds up. 🤣
I could see this being the perfect argy egg harvesting pen. If you placed some well positioned ramps and faced the argies outwards that central column could act as a funnel and drop egg out on the ground floor
This was without a doubt the most frustrating build. It took me five days. I scrapped it down to foundations twice. Still somehow I couldn't get the ceiling to work and had to place a thatch foundation to the left of the center stone foundations to get all the ceiling tiles in place, then I demolished the thatch foundation. In the end it still works but it was stressful
Yeah, I am thinking of scrapping and starting over. The fence foundations aren't snapping to the ceiling structure up on top, so I had to eyeball it… Just a wee bit off and fark! I may decide square is good!
Same here, I can't tell if the bottom row of thatch wall is snapped to the ceiling tiles so the whole dang thing fall down. I also can NOT get the wooden fence to snap to the stone fence. This build is killing me playing on official. Ugh. Gonna end up square.

@@pavelpanov6266 I"m a little late to this, but if you pick up the stone ceiling that is covering the fence foundation that you're trying to snap something to, it's a lot easier.
@@bec5631 This works. Made it al lot easier. Also if you get it to snap diagonally red and then play with it a bit you can get it to go green diagonally the way you need it to.
Snapping the wood foundations inclined on the stone ceilings has probably been the most stressful and rage inducing things i've ever tried to build in Ark with my 1k hours invested in to it. It's getting there but holy crap i wanted to chuck my keyboard out the window

Worst time of my life. 2 hours and 48 min resource gathering. Building took ages. Didn't set a timer. En it was such a pain in the ass to remove al that thatch was without creatief on. BUT... it looks so good its super handy and al my friend are jealous. Thxx a lot. It hurt but its awesome. Love your vidz keep it up
Hey bro i was wondering if something might be wrong with my game or something cause on 15:33 with the sloped wall thing, cause i can't do it after the first corner it just won't fit in any way. I've tried a lot but i couldn't find any do you know if maybe you have an extra mod or something that causes this
I find your videos very interesting and helpful. BUT! I can't build that high on the new mobile version. It would be awesome if you could try to build something shorter, I have tried but doesn't really work.
Always love these builds! But began losing interest in this one when I’m thirty minutes into trying to snap simple fence foundations together. Usually I’m pretty good about it, but after trying every angle and rotation, the still wouldn’t snap right. Does anyone have a suggestions? Frustration set in hard but I love this build and want to finish it!

I'm struggling to build something and I was wondering if you would do a tutorial on either a Wyvern Pen for just the one, or a massive open landing page that you could at least 20-30 dino 's on thtpat s suspended in the air. He does that step a bit fast but let me try to explain this process with the railings best i can. Make sure when following to slow yourself down and pay attention to each action you are making. I accidentally broke down the wrong layer more times than i care to remember and had to start those walls over. Maybe I'm too late, but make sure you are using official server settings, since that is what this guy was using. It took me a lot of trial and error but i figured it out and it involves a bit of 2 steps forward, 1 step back when building the railings for the wall. Okay.... Build all the thatch walls all the way around 5 high and inverted (outside facing in) snapped to the edge of the stone ceiling, not the fence foundation in front. Then place another thatch wall facing the normal direction in front of the inverted ones by snapping these to the wooden fence foundation instead of the edge of the stone ceiling. This will result in two-layer thatch walls at the base of your fence (one facing out and one facing in). Then comes the stone railing. There should be two snap points when placing your stone railing (one snap point on top of each of the two thatch layers). Snap it to the inner most point and make sure it is blue (not green) before you snap it in. Blue in this case means the railing will snap into the item in front and green will result in the railing snapping into the wall behind. If done correctly, nothing will have been broken or replaced so far. Once you get the stone railing in properly, stack the wooden railings 5 high (2 railings stacked is the same height as 1 wall) as shown in the video and make sure they are blue instead of green before you snap them in. Blue in this case means it will snap into the railing below it, which is what you want for this to work. Once that step has been completed all around the circumference, go outside and place your wooden walls over the outer thatch walls, this will break and replace the outer thatch walls on the upper most level. If you want the walls facing normally, make sure it is green before you snap it. If you want the walls to be facing inwards, make sure the color is blue. Once you have snapped them all in up top you can go back inside and replace the thatch walls at the bottom (1st level). Make sure you snap the wall to the inside (the fence foundation) and not the edge of the ceiling (the outer snap point). This should break the thatch wall on the fence foundation and replace it with your new one. Again, i know i'm very late here, but if you are still trying to build it then i hope this helps. I did not make this exact aviary, so i can't help with any of the other steps. I just took used the part about using the railings as walls to incorporate the look into my own bird pen above my main base.

I followed every step up to placing the railing and followed but when i place my railing (yes blue snap point) it breaks the thatch wall and i cant put wooden ones ontop what am i doing wrong?
I just went forward with the placement of fences after destroying the thatch. The building won't fall apart as long as you replace instead of removing. But there is definitely something off, because this even happens to the wooden walls when placing them over the thatch. It doesn't happen to all of them, but some of them. Either something got misplaced somewhere, or this build is just off for some people depending on server settings. I do have noclipping enabled on mine, so I guess its plausible.
hey, i nees help- followed all the instructions, but at about 4:20(?), when it's said to place thatch walls, it says i can't, because the foundation can't take anymore. help.
Nice build man. I may have quit the game because of wild cards horrible attitude towards their player base, but I’m still excited to see what your next content will be. Keep it up. :D
DirtySouthGaming not to be rude and reference another RUclips channel on Aaron’s but if you watch cleanprince’s video essay about the “murder” of Ark you’ll see that Wild Card has a history of very unprofessional behavior towards their player base. One of the developers even called a player cheap for complaining about the broken state of the scorched earth dlc and having to pay 20$ for it. According to this dev we as players were lucky they didn’t charge full price. The game was fun enough to ignore the bugs, but I personally won’t support a team that insults their players for demanding quality for their money. Hope that answers your question.

Yeah that’s because his builds aren’t designed with official in mind. We don’t get to play by the same rules he does. Shits impossible and a waste of time
The fence foundation would not go diagonal ( at 5:17 ) in the corners no matter what i did. I solve this by using a row of triangle ceiling at 2 opposite ends and was able to get the same rounded look you got with fence foundations including the wider openings. This method also allowed me to bypass what you do from 6:55 to 7:55. Inside, bottom floor is only 2 high which is too low for an argy so i turned that floor into a base with all crafting tools. Used the roof for my Quetz.
When you have to place the fence foundations diagonally, I'm having a lot of trouble because it won't place correctly. Does anyone have a solution of how to make this easier?
It took me like 30 minutes to figure it out but you look at the point of the last foundation you placed and just press E or the right bumper (whatever system you have) until you get it. I know you commented a month ago but this could be helpful for other people. :)
The 10:00 I have no idea what is going on when I try it the walls just replace the old ones. And then when I go to the next step my stone railings destroy the walls...
I was watching this old videos of yours, which still impact me greatly cuz they are amazing. I wonder if you have thought of going back to these builds and re-create them on ASA with the new building techniques and whatnot. I think a "Before ASE and after ASA comparison would be amazing. This is proving to be very difficult on live servers :( I did finish your beach house and it looks so lovely. Granted its imperfect but it still looks pleasing. Im trying to build the aviary, but being new to the game and having to find ways to build without floating in the air is very difficult LOL. PS: Had to make it work. Got the walls done and it looks epic. But the sloped roofs are a hassle ha ha. And I made it all mainly wood XD Thanks for this awesome design!
Hey Longstaff!! If you could do a how to build for an egg incubation into maturation, so it would start small and have a connected room that is bigger for when the dinos grow. It would included ACs for incubation and grills for meat and a bunch of feeding troughs to hold and keep a lot of meat so it doesn't spoil to allow bigger dinos to eat since they eat sooo much. That would be sweet!

Great work. Couldn't dupicate on the PC. Tried with Structures+ parts and with Vanilla. Rails kept destroying the Thatch Walls (the main walls) instead of snapping to the inside of them (flipped to blue-green as needed). Ah, still learning, but now just stuck.

I love this guys build! This is my 3rd recreation of his ideas now lol but I must admit I’m having a bit of trouble with placing the slopes under the ceilings lol I can only ever seem to be able to place slopes under ceiling in two directions instead of 4 😩 so frustrating lol
Aaron Longstaff yeh sloped roofs, I can place all underneath the “cage” but inside I can only place corners and above the gates lol sometimes ark can be difficult but hey it still looks amazing 👍 I got all my pteras in mine and got a sign naming it “pteranodon tower” 😛

Same here, I can't tell if the bottom row of thatch wall is snapped to the ceiling tiles so the whole dang thing fall down. I also can NOT get the wooden fence to snap to the stone fence. This build is killing me playing on official. Ugh. Gonna end up square.

@@pavelpanov6266 I"m a little late to this, but if you pick up the stone ceiling that is covering the fence foundation that you're trying to snap something to, it's a lot easier.
@@bec5631 This works. Made it al lot easier. Also if you get it to snap diagonally red and then play with it a bit you can get it to go green diagonally the way you need it to.

Snapping the wood foundations inclined on the stone ceilings has probably been the most stressful and rage inducing things i've ever tried to build in Ark with my 1k hours invested in to it. It's getting there but holy crap i wanted to chuck my keyboard out the window

Worst time of my life. 2 hours and 48 min resource gathering. Building took ages. Didn't set a timer. En it was such a pain in the ass to remove al that thatch was without creatief on. BUT... it looks so good its super handy and al my friend are jealous. Thxx a lot. It hurt but its awesome. Love your vidz keep it up

Hey bro i was wondering if something might be wrong with my game or something cause on 15:33 with the sloped wall thing, cause i can't do it after the first corner it just won't fit in any way. I've tried a lot but i couldn't find any do you know if maybe you have an extra mod or something that causes this

Always love these builds! But began losing interest in this one when I’m thirty minutes into trying to snap simple fence foundations together. Usually I’m pretty good about it, but after trying every angle and rotation, the still wouldn’t snap right. Does anyone have a suggestions? Frustration set in hard but I love this build and want to finish it!

He does that step a bit fast but let me try to explain this process with the railings best i can. Make sure when following to slow yourself down and pay attention to each action you are making. I accidentally broke down the wrong layer more times than i care to remember and had to start those walls over.
Maybe I'm too late, but make sure you are using official server settings, since that is what this guy was using. It took me a lot of trial and error but i figured it out and it involves a bit of 2 steps forward, 1 step back when building the railings for the wall.
Okay....
Build all the thatch walls all the way around 5 high and inverted (outside facing in) snapped to the edge of the stone ceiling, not the fence foundation in front.
Then place another thatch wall facing the normal direction in front of the inverted ones by snapping these to the wooden fence foundation instead of the edge of the stone ceiling. This will result in two-layer thatch walls at the base of your fence (one facing out and one facing in). Then comes the stone railing.
There should be two snap points when placing your stone railing (one snap point on top of each of the two thatch layers). Snap it to the inner most point and make sure it is blue (not green) before you snap it in. Blue in this case means the railing will snap into the item in front and green will result in the railing snapping into the wall behind.
If done correctly, nothing will have been broken or replaced so far. Once you get the stone railing in properly, stack the wooden railings 5 high (2 railings stacked is the same height as 1 wall) as shown in the video and make sure they are blue instead of green before you snap them in. Blue in this case means it will snap into the railing below it, which is what you want for this to work.
Once that step has been completed all around the circumference, go outside and place your wooden walls over the outer thatch walls, this will break and replace the outer thatch walls on the upper most level.
If you want the walls facing normally, make sure it is green before you snap it. If you want the walls to be facing inwards, make sure the color is blue.
Once you have snapped them all in up top you can go back inside and replace the thatch walls at the bottom (1st level). Make sure you snap the wall to the inside (the fence foundation) and not the edge of the ceiling (the outer snap point). This should break the thatch wall on the fence foundation and replace it with your new one.
Again, i know i'm very late here, but if you are still trying to build it then i hope this helps. I did not make this exact aviary, so i can't help with any of the other steps. I just took used the part about using the railings as walls to incorporate the look into my own bird pen above my main base.

I followed every step up to placing the railing and followed but when i place my railing (yes blue snap point) it breaks the thatch wall and i cant put wooden ones ontop what am i doing wrong?

Same here. The railings snap properly to the bottom thatch, but not the one above it. Tried this on every single thatch block, but no dice.
I just went forward with the placement of fences after destroying the thatch. The building won't fall apart as long as you replace instead of removing. But there is definitely something off, because this even happens to the wooden walls when placing them over the thatch. It doesn't happen to all of them, but some of them. Either something got misplaced somewhere, or this build is just off for some people depending on server settings. I do have noclipping enabled on mine, so I guess its plausible.

DirtySouthGaming not to be rude and reference another RUclips channel on Aaron’s but if you watch cleanprince’s video essay about the “murder” of Ark you’ll see that Wild Card has a history of very unprofessional behavior towards their player base. One of the developers even called a player cheap for complaining about the broken state of the scorched earth dlc and having to pay 20$ for it. According to this dev we as players were lucky they didn’t charge full price. The game was fun enough to ignore the bugs, but I personally won’t support a team that insults their players for demanding quality for their money. Hope that answers your question.

The fence foundation would not go diagonal ( at 5:17 ) in the corners no matter what i did. I solve this by using a row of triangle ceiling at 2 opposite ends and was able to get the same rounded look you got with fence foundations including the wider openings. This method also allowed me to bypass what you do from 6:55 to 7:55. Inside, bottom floor is only 2 high which is too low for an argy so i turned that floor into a base with all crafting tools. Used the roof for my Quetz.
i believe you need to aim at the fences that you just placed to solve this (how i solved it)

It took me like 30 minutes to figure it out but you look at the point of the last foundation you placed and just press E or the right bumper (whatever system you have) until you get it. I know you commented a month ago but this could be helpful for other people. :)

If you're playing on mobile the settings are different. You have a limited amount of structures you can place on your foundations.
This is a great idea. I have been looking for an Argy pen that's not totally huge. This will fit perfectly into my base.

I was watching this old videos of yours, which still impact me greatly cuz they are amazing. I wonder if you have thought of going back to these builds and re-create them on ASA with the new building techniques and whatnot. I think a "Before ASE and after ASA comparison would be amazing. This is proving to be very difficult on live servers :( I did finish your beach house and it looks so lovely. Granted its imperfect but it still looks pleasing. Im trying to build the aviary, but being new to the game and having to find ways to build without floating in the air is very difficult LOL.
PS: Had to make it work. Got the walls done and it looks epic. But the sloped roofs are a hassle ha ha. And I made it all mainly wood XD Thanks for this awesome design!

Hey Longstaff!! If you could do a how to build for an egg incubation into maturation, so it would start small and have a connected room that is bigger for when the dinos grow. It would included ACs for incubation and grills for meat and a bunch of feeding troughs to hold and keep a lot of meat so it doesn't spoil to allow bigger dinos to eat since they eat sooo much. That would be sweet!

Great work. Couldn't dupicate on the PC. Tried with Structures+ parts and with Vanilla. Rails kept destroying the Thatch Walls (the main walls) instead of snapping to the inside of them (flipped to blue-green as needed). Ah, still learning, but now just stuck.

I love this guys build! This is my 3rd recreation of his ideas now lol but I must admit I’m having a bit of trouble with placing the slopes under the ceilings lol I can only ever seem to be able to place slopes under ceiling in two directions instead of 4 😩 so frustrating lol

Aaron Longstaff yeh sloped roofs, I can place all underneath the “cage” but inside I can only place corners and above the gates lol sometimes ark can be difficult but hey it still looks amazing 👍 I got all my pteras in mine and got a sign naming it “pteranodon tower” 😛
I am having the exact same problem with the sloped roofs on the inside. Will only snap above gates and corners. :(
After two days of agonizing pain I finally got the fence foundation diagonally build is complete :D
