Thanks for the help, I was reviewing, it's been a few years! Just so you know, the "Shrinking/stretching thing makes sense as making it taller or shorter, not wider or narrower. As it gets more narrow, it gets "stretched" or taller (though it goes upward to infinity either way) and as it gets wider, it gets shorter, thus "shrinking" it. The book use the terms in a vertical rather than horizontal sense.
