I love that in Chapter 1, when examining all your brothers things, they constantly point out how successful and liked your brother is, compared to you. And in this Chapter, it highlights all of your brothers shortcomings, such as borrowed books and games that was abandoned and crude plans and ideas hidden in folders. It's neat, it shows that Kris is in a better headspace this time around, after having gotten friends.
Oh no... why am I reminded of the fabled brother from Ed, Edd n Eddy who is nothing like how he is built up to be over the course of the show once we finally meet him?

people joke a lot about silksong taking a long time, but it is a sequel to a game that has high expectations. meanwhile, the chapters of deltarune are all supposed to be one game.

I'm really glad toby fox added an option to start at chapter 2 instead of needing to have a chapter 1 save file because I switched computers between the release of chapter 1 and chapter 2, meaning my save file from chapter 1 was completely gone.
That rules out choices having long-term consequences across chapters though, unless there are some defaults

Here are your spoiler-free fun facts for this episode:
- At the start of chapter 2, we find ourselves in the same room we started and ended chapter 1 on (shocking, I know), but now you have a bit of a different flavour-text to read in the room.
- 11:46 Chapter 2 released in September 2021, about a year and a half into the pandemic, which likely explains the subtle change on Alphys’ wallpaper. Probably no in-universe reason for it, but a reminder of the quite scary period we were in.
- Susie exclaiming that waiting for today felt like years is also a real-world nod, given that Chapter 1’s release (Halloween 2018) was already three years away by then.
- 13:10 Reintroducing: Noelle Holiday, Kris’ next-door neighbour. She gets her own leitmotif in this scene, courtesy of the track “Girl Next Door”. (totally not implying anything, right?)
- Noelle will give Susie a box of chalk in this scene, as a nod to one of the possible responses you can give her about Susie as a person at the end of chapter 1. Though she will do that even if you didn’t tell her about Susie’s chalk-cravings.
- 20:38 small acknowledgement of your choices last time. But in the end it all ended up working out to the same end regardless if you did or did not resolve your engagements with force: The King got dethroned and Lancer ascends in his stead. If you DID go full pacifist last time, you actually were able to see that happening before you went home and you’d have been able to chat up some of the characters you meet in the Dark World.
- The Lancer Cookie heals for 50 HP, but only while in battle. In the overworld during chapter 1 is heals for 5 HP, while in chapter 2 it heals for just 1. Plenty of items had their attributes readjusted between chapters, and I may have touched on that on a previous fun facts comment; so refer to that one if you like to learn more.
I think the wallpaper was given an in-universe explanation in the same flavor text dump that describes it. The explanation is Toriel's protestant prudishness.
weirdly enough noelle won't always give susie the chalk. but it's not the conversation in chapter 1 that triggers it. personally I have no clue why it happens in some playthroughs but doesn't happen in others
@@dargons5145 Noelle will give Susie the chalk as long as you tell her anything about Susie in front of her house. You don't need to specifically select the Chalk branch, but you do need to select the Susie one.

I played Undertale and Chapter 1 of Deltarune the day of their releases, but I was suffering from some severe depression when Chapter 2 came out, and so I never got around to playing it, for for the first time this will be something new for me to.

I am quite fond of Kris’ habit of turning to the camera after the end of dialogue/cutscenes, it’s a small detail, but when you notice it helps solidify the difference between Kris and the player, like Kris is going “well? What now?”. Based on what I’ve seen so far Deltarune seems to be a game increasingly shaping up not just to empathise with your enemies and party members, but with your own player Avatar and I’m super excited to see how this trend continues both in chapter 2 (which I haven’t played since it came out so I’ve forgotten a big chunk of) and in future chapters
Also can I just say I absolutely love Sean’s voice

Just a reminder that Ralsei can spend the TP you earn to heal your party, if he doesn't have anything else to do that turn. And if you have TP left over at the end of a battle, it gets converted into extra money. And this has been a useful reminder to _me_ that they turned save points into storage boxes. I do not remember that at all from when I played.
I'm almost a bit worried when a playthrough ends, but playframe never disappoints! How did I forget there was still ch.2 to be played?
I just wanna say i like the background changing from the autumn trees to the castle town when going between the light and dark worlds.
Your undertale playthrough was 3 years ago… Deltarune came out 6 years ago. Undertale came out 9 years ago. All of this hurts me.
Time hurts all of us. Especially people who work in an OSHA-noncompliant clock factory. It's unavoidable, no matter how hard we try. Unless you're running the clock factory.
i love how the games systems keep evolving with each chapter, saving to multiple files from the save menu, spare meters, and new systems entirely. I’m excited for what the next chapters will bring with them!
I forget how many Deltarune Chapter 2 videos I've watched, but never before have I put it together that Chapter 1's cliffhanger was the pie theft. Totally looking forward to watching the rest of this series with you at the wheel!
I am the consumer of Deltarune content. I watch all Deltarune playthroughs.
Love how he picks up on all the little meta inconsistencies, like Ralsei knowing about the light world and the town name. We'll make a theory channel out of him yet!
Sometimes he'll wander properly and get all the lore, other times he ... well, he didn't even try to get into shenanigans with the dusty ball of stuff ... there's entire ... jokes..

I don't think there's any correct pronunciation of Roulx's dialogue. Dan does a pretty good job, though.

One small little tip that I *think* you already learned last time but might have forgotten about:
leftover TP at the end of a battle gives you extra money.
Defending increases TP
so if you know that you are going to spare with Susie due to Kris, you may *defend* with Ralsei to get a small TP boost for a little bit extra cash at no time loss

but its also (supposed to be) Gerson. If you interact with it in the chapter 1 epilogue I believe you learn that Alvin, Gerson's son, drew it, presumably many many years ago given that he's now a grown man(turtle).
A small thing of little consequence that you missed. If you go down while you have the dusty ball of stuff from the spare classroom on your head theirs a cute bit of dialogue between Toriel and Alphys. Also this dialogue is the first time Kris is confirmed as non-binary (as far as I am aware).

I JUST consumed some Undertale content yesterday (some neat easter eggs) and wondered when you’d start your Chapter 2 playthrough. Very excited to see it!
Just beat the chapter 2 bonus boss (I never got to them in my original playthrough). Very hyped to see your playthrough, though it does mean I should hurry up on beating the chapter before you get there. And also before Toby shadowdrops Deltarune chapters 3+4 haha

I’ve actually had a huge problem getting to play chapter 2 b/c I feel I need to beat Jevil first otherwise I’m doomed to miss possible thing sin the future. So instead I don’t play at all. 😢
You'll never beat Jevil if you don't play. To fight Jevil is to learn Jevil.
As of right now, missing Jevil has practically no consequence; you can enjoy 99.9% of everything Chapter 2 has to offer, and you'll only miss a few lines of optional dialogue with Seam. So go ahead and play Chapter 2, and if you still feel like you must have that little extra nugget of content, then start up a brand new playthrough of Chapter 1 and give Jevil another shot.
If you beat Jevil in one save file, you can interact with a rock or something (I don't remember exactly what) to the left of Castle Town in any chapter 2 savefile (regardless of whether you beat Jevil in that specific save file) to get his weapon or armor (depending on how you beat him) and a shadow crystal. You can do this during the first part of chapter 2. If you try later you can still get it if you've beaten the chapter's bonus boss. So feel free to continue onwards and come back to Jevil on a chapter 1 save file later.

chapter 3: complete, not yet released, will be released alongside chapter 4
chapter 4: almost entirely complete
chapter 5: being worked on
We could potentially see a Deltarune chapters 3+4 release soon. Perhaps in time for Deltarune chapter 1's anniversary on Halloween?
Last I heard, Toby had finished everything he could for chapters 3/4 and was waiting on some of the people he was working with. A Halloween release would be...actually I don't have spare cash for games right now, it would be inconvenient.
There's an email newsletter if you want to hear about information seasonally, but essentially Chapter 3 and 4 are almost entirely done. They still need console ports finished, alongside localizing to Japanese and getting it put through the ratings boards. I'd say chapter 3 and 4 are probably coming out in... Summer 2025?
Outside of that, there's gonna be 8 chapters, so I'd say that the game will probably be entirely finished by 2028, maybe 2029. Of course, things can always change!
