I wonder how many people watching this video are gonna find out for the first time that this is where VaatiVidya's name comes from. I feel like it'll be a fair chunk of people.
It's kinda rude of Dan to be showing off the stuff from before he got his big break with the Dark Souls videos. We all did embarrassing things in our youths...
Haven't played Four Swords but played the hell out of Minish Cap and man oh man. I see it's skeleton being formed all over in this little side game and it makes me happy.
i had it on the GBA cartridge with the Links Awakening remake for years, but could never play it because i knew nobody else with it finally, Four Swords time
What a great way to start the weekend! Now I must ponder who the legendary 4th Dan is. Dan Avidan would mesh with the rest of the Dans, I feel. Perhaps he's the prophesized one...
6:00: What about the Super Metroid/Link to the Past randomizer? It's Zelda/Metroid game, but you finished both halves of it. 11:00: More games should have power-ups that let you shrink. 22:22-35: That's always a tricky game design problem. Especially if you're designing a co-op game (where players might play wrong on purpose to irritate their friends), or a game for kids (who are more likely to do silly stuff without recognizing or caring about consequences), and _especially_ co-op games for kids (who are likely to play with siblings rather than friends). 1:28: I am intellectually curious what happened the first three times, but in my heart I know the answer is probably boring technical errors that the Dans don't 100% understand. 9:40: If my brother and I had two GBAs instead of one and two copies of this game instead of zero, we never would have gotten past the part where we learned we could throw each other in holes. 21:00: We would have "accidentally" thrown each other into the pit so much. 15:30: Or they'd just yell "Hey! Listen!" 22:50: Zeldollars 26:35-50: Lots of the knights-and-knaves puzzles I found as a kid included a third category that alternated between truth and lies. Which is perhaps more interesting if you're trying to figure out several different things and not the location of a (1) treasure. 32:40: What? _(google noises)_ No, that's right. WHY ARE THE SNAKES CALLED ROPES??
Yessss, always delighted to have more Dan^3 content! I'd especially love to see more Lethal Company from y'all, I've been watching the two episodes we got over and over again. Such good goofs!
In high school 4 of us all had gba and zelda sowe would link up at lunch and play this. I didn't realize how rare it was to have that experience as a kid. Pretty cool.
FOUR SWORDS IN ON THE SWITCH?!? I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE POT HEAD THING THAT'S AMAZING XD Love that Jones thought the game broke. This was very delightful. I love your guys' energy.
At long last a Zelda playthrough on the main channel! Not the game I hoped but hey I will take it! PLEASE Dan, don't let it be the only one... Oh, and also please play more platformers. I do not complain that Play Frame is basically RPG central, but I do crave some mainstream platformer playthroughs
Shame its not for swords adventure on the GameCube with the Gameboy links, even via emulation it can be a nightmare to work but it is a superior version of this same concept in a more traditional Zelda form. "Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos", is an indie game that kind of follows the legacy a multiplayer Zelda like that may be worth a go.
@@koisxprincess I completed it alone, but i did have a friend I got to play it with at the time, and final fantasy crystal chronicles. Cemented them as some of my favorate games on gamecube, I wish there was more like them. It can work with emulation but it tricks to set up. Even more so to play online.
Speaking of indie zelda-likes, Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos was heavily inspired by 2d Zelda games, but it's a co-op game for up to 4 players with a bit of rogue-like DNA in it.
4:05 Unfortunately, if you try to shoot the slingshot as adult, it still pulls from your arrow pool; so if you don't have a bow, then it doesn't work. 25:56 Dan-eye coordination.
1:58 There are some heavy air quotes around that "cooperatively". This was the first "competitive co-op" game I was ever aware of... and the concept still baffles me. 5:56 I'm with Floyd, more or less, with Zelda experience. I played OG, OOT, MM, Oracle of... Ages?, LttP, and Link's Awakening. Never finished Ages, Awakening or the OG, though. Part of that is because I basically stopped buying consoles, with the exception of the DSi so I could play HGSS and KHD (which, for reference, I bought about the time the Switch came out). 16:53 This is about the point I'd bail on the game. I play co-op games for the co-op, not competition. 45:55 I never really knew what my opinion is/was. Nothing but vines and boots was nicely spicy, but that was about it, I guess? Also, they got weird in Majora with the colour-coded hair and stuff.
Considering he has experience with other Zelda games of this style, I would have loved to see Dan Avidan from the Game Grumps as the 4th Dan. I also think he could have easily matched their energy.
On the subject of missing the white noise, I have both that and it's inverse once a year. I have a window AC unit that I need to not melt in the summer, and ditch when it gets cool enough, and the change in soundscape both directions always messes with me for a few days, lol.
It's interesting how Minish Cap borrowed a bunch from this game. Not just the art style, but even some of the items. Being only familiar with Minish Cap, I wonder how many items it has were initially developed more for their multiplayer functionality.
The choice of Four Swords threw me for a second there, thought a new Dan just dropped. But glad there was allusion to why the three Dans are playing four-player fourswords rather than the three-player Triforce Heroes. Also those seeds could be scadu fragments/Korok seeds?
I have the cartridge version of this! Though I never played it. I also have 4 GBA-GameCube link cables and got to play Four Swords Adventures the OG way, but not as much as I would've liked. That one is fun, too, but I imagine recording it would be a challenge. I was also not expecting this, and I'm here for it!
oh man this game was neat! i only ever managed to play this once with a friend back in middle school. the problems with requiring the cart and a link cable back in the day. i think we got two keys? we didn't beat it sadly, but i'm excited to see y'all play through this!
23:45, to be more exact. I saw the banana and backfilled that Dan must have said something about bananas, which would have made more sense. It reminds me of a joke in one of the DKC playthroughs where...I think it was Jones who pointed out that a banana hoard would go bad before DK could eat most of them?
Recently having played Twilight Princess, I can easily say that is not the same Great Fairy. This is the most clothed Great Fairy I have seen, and the one in TP only has the bikini bottoms, making it the least clothed. Similar hairstyle, though.
Didn’t Dan Jones beat Breath of the Wild on the channel? It was a castle only challenge run. I guess he didn’t really engage with the main story, so it might not count.
No finished zelda on the channel? What about Dan Jones 3 heart challenge on breath of the wild? Man sacrificed his save file and mental health for that, right? I suppose it isn't a full playthrough, but still. Worth acknowledging I reckon
Apologies for the occasional audio quality issues on Emmons' mic! We didn't catch the problem until after recording.
I feel like Carrie should be the honorary Dan in this playthrough
Her pink is close enough to Link #4's magenta.
@@timothymclean no, she'd be Link 2. Dan Emmons is Link 4
We’ll just call her Danielle for the play through, no one will even notice.
My personal head-cannon: the 4th Dan is Carrie going to get coffee.
Head cannon? Just like in Elden ring!
The fourth Dan is of course Leelee. But she's too busy winning tournament arcs to become Dan Prime.
My personal head-cannon is a howitzer

this is such a fun game, the free "anniversary" edition was the first zelda game I ever played
4 Swords, 3 Dans, 2 many bombs, 1 Dan wins
And a partige in a pear tree~

Back in ye olde Extra Credit days, LeeLee would sometimes stand in as a fourth Dan.
12:38 Secrets of Grindea is a 4 player co-op action rpg that's similar to Zelda, which came out earlier this year on Steam.
I'm not sure if it has this kind of cooperation.

Jones. If nothing else he’d probably try to glue the other one on the end to make a bigger sword.
