Great overview, nice to see Fileside featured, thanks for the review! Just wanted to add that Fileside has the same Cmd-P functionality as fman, which makes it super quick to jump to any bookmarked or previously visited folder within a given pane.
Thank you! That is very good clarification!
That “flat view” option is something I never knew existed!! That alone makes this video so useful - great insight
Glad it was helpful!
This is helpful. Thanks!
Thank you!
Good review. Thanks
Thank you! 🙏
if you set Path Finder as the default file manager..... does it allow to map drives to servers? In Finder you click Go and then Connect to server. Does Path Finder have an equivalent feature?
I like this series, thank you for this content.
Could you do something similar for the Mail app?
Thank you! Yes, it was in my plans.
Understood everything! i got my subscribe 😉🎉
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the detailed presentation of these file managers. One question re: Forklift which I have been using for few months: How do you display all available Forklift shortcuts? (4'32" in your video)
Hey, thank you!
It’s an app KeyClu. Once installed by comand key press and delay, it shows all available hotkeys in the active application.
How do you filter search results in Marta? When I quick search something, it just jumps to the file instead of filtering it from the rest like it does in your case
You can enable this in the settings.
I came from windows and I’m looking for something to replace Total commander. Any suggestions? Thanks
This video is just about what you can replace Total Commander with. I found this replacement for myself - FMan.
Good content but the background music over powering.
Thank you! I will definitely keep it in mind for the next videos!
Ditto. Was going to leave a separate comment. Hard to understand at times because the music competes TOO much with the commentary.
Try to use double commander, simple free Total Commander-like file manager. Killer feature is folder navigation with arrows by default (left-right is up from folder/ down do folder)
Thank you! How did I miss it? I installed it and I'm testing it. I like it so far. But I can't yet find how to make it so that as characters are typed in, filtering happens immediately, not at the click of a button.
If there can be only one, which one do you prefer?
I'm using fman more and more often, but apparently, this project has been abandoned.
Is there any viable good FOSS alternative to Marta/ Fman?
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything like that.
Is marta still in active development?
I've been wondering the same thing. But it's not clear yet. The developer's github says the next version is in development. But unfortunately it hasn't been updated for a long time.
I would bet that the guy is trying to sell it to someone. It's a great app, and it's completely free. Why would he do it if he wasn't looking to sell?
I would love to support the Marta dev on Patreon, but It just feels so abandoned I don't wanna throw my money out the window
