12:40 My theory was that the petalace from rise was the first iteration of a system to decouple most of our power behind armor only. The new method could take that concept a bit further. The idea is simple. Reduce the total number of armor skills that can be equipped on a single armor but make the choice of armor more meaningful and flexible. Next add something to the weapons that also make it more flexible, I call them Deco-Plates, think of a mix between the Petalace and the Talisman it. will come in various stat distributions and slot allocations as well as being tied to the weapon itself. So Warriors Decoplate of Agitation (Attack, Hp Up, Agitator +2, Gem Slots 2) or Gunner's Decoplate of Recoil (Stamina Up, Elemental Defense Up, Critical Eye 2, Recoil down 2) or Knights Decoplate of Guarding (Defense Up, Elemental Defense Up, Guard Boost 2, Offensive Guard 3) This lets you basically tailor each weapon to a specific niche while making our armor less front loaded with dozens of stats by itself. They could gatekeep the power of each decoplate by what rank we are in. Now when I said the Decoplate was tied to the weapon itself I didn't mean Chatacabra's weapon had 1 decoplate and Balahara's had another I meant that every weapon could be equipped with a decoplate of your choice taking the role of the talisman and the petalace instead. I think that the system we will see might be close to this if not eerily similar because making the armor carry the entire burden of buffing both weapons seems a bit out of place and takes away the feeling of tuning each weapon perfectly to our tastes.
That's an interesting idea! I do really hope they dial back the amount of skills we get and make specific armor sets more meaningful. I would even argue for the return of negative skills.
My thought on a new weapon would be nothing on release. Probably like a 20% surprise chance or less but I'd wager on an expansion following the release they might.
My most used weapons are greatsword in World and charge blade in Rise. Btw this is the first video of you I have seen but I have played and enjoyed armored core 6.
Chargeblade, switch axe and gunlance have been my main weapons. Cant say that theres 1 used more then the other. Rise adding a counter to swaxe was something that really pleased me, i hope that swaxe still has a parry mechanic in wilds. Hoping to see the bowguns dethroned in wilds, they have been a crutch for the last 2 generations
Maybe since the armor doesn't swap you just keep what skills come on the armor but the decos will be tied to the weapons? Atleast so that mitigates the concern for skills becoming useless.
I can see most people using Melee primary/ Ranged secondary especially at the start,.though i can see a potential for LS/CB being both weapons that depend on a charge mechanic making use of LS for faster/enraged enemies and CB for when they're exhausted and easier to chain combos for the true discharge.
Lance main here!!! My secondarries would be charge blade, longsword and hammer. Cant wait to see what they add anything to the lance, see if it gets any sauce so to speak lol.
On the skill system, I'm going to take a guess. I think the gear and decorations will offer specific skills for specific weapons. The decos might even be kind of randomized. I... think they might've had some similar kind of mechanic in 4? So for example, you could have a particular 1 slot jewel that gives attack for most melee weapons, but stamina surge for dual blade and insect glaive, and guard for lance, expert on bow and light bowgun, and ammo up on heavy bowgun. And each jewel would be it's own specific mix. Higher jewels might give more points, or a mix of different skills for different weapons. Or universal skills for all weapons. It'd finally get people to use some of the huge list of utility skills that get ignored for more points in agitator... Welp, that's my guess. Alternatively....... Maybe all decorations will get slotted into the weapons themselves. The gear might give a number of bonus points or slots or something, but the actual decos don't go specifically into the gear pieces themselves (though that doesn't make much sense.) That would be a clunky but functional system.
I’m a bit shamed to say that I had started playing after Sunbreak had received all of its title updates, but I am absolutely loving it 160+ hours in already. I’ve done quite a few of the weapons, and some don’t really stick with me for long. My more recent mains have been dual blades and gunlance. I did try both in World but my laptop couldn’t handle the game anymore so I had to just stick to Rise until I decide to treat myself to an upgrade. Gunlance in Rise is just a “blast”
If they manage to do something fresh for one of the most enjoyable boom sticks in gaming, then heck yeah I’m still down for the combat (if not, I still have dual blades or charge blade) I had a few hours into World, and I loved it nonetheless!
I have to say, as a Gunlance main I’m a bit worried. Gunlance got some love in Rise and Sunbreak but with the lack of news so far I really do hope it still feels as impactful to use in Wilds.
Re: gunlance balance, I feel like the mhw endgame is pretty decently balanced for casual/SOS hunts, but I'm not a dps speedrunning expert. Also, anytime an LBG or HBG joins my hunt, we smash the monster to bits, so they're definitely very strong weapons. I'm really excited for wilds, too. Thanks for getting all this info together 👍
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that the skills will be more generalized towards all weapons so that they’re not as specific, such as guard up. But apparently the skills are changing A LOT.
I'm a charge blade but before it was released I enjoyed switch axe and GS. I also played a lot of lance in both world and rise and some insect glaive in world and dual blades in rise. Something that makes me very excited about wilds is being able to switch between two weapons, imagine puting a doshaguma to sleep with dual blades just to do a true charged slash?
No news on the Insect Glaive? Man I wish they keep the mobility we got in Rise. Specially the aerial damage build up. Nothing cooler then doing a series of successful aerial attacks and then doing a big finisher downward strike. The IG in Rise was just amazing, when I came back to World I felt like I was playing missing buffs in a way hahaha Doing the aerial attacks in Rise and then doing the infinite combo on the ground while waiting for the stamina to come back up felt just right. A fast moving and agile weapon. I really wish we get the Rise treatment for my main in Wilds.
I'm a fellow SnS main, with Dual Blades being my secondary that I've played almost as much. I sort of switch mains depending on the game, tho SnS is still my ultimate favorite.
I'm a Gunlance main, and I honestly don't think we need some huge buffs. At least with full burst I never felt my damage was lacking too much, although I haven't played many other weapons lately so maybe my perception is off. I just hope we can keep the rocket dash from Rise and maybe shelling damage won't be affected by sharpness anymore.
I think shelling was the issue. It's my understanding it barely scales with anything and so at the end game you are almost better jist poking than using any sort of basic shelling. GL main I'm not though so take it with a grain of salt.
Shelling types need to be straight up removed youre given all these options then locked into 1 based on weapon type which really guts the amount of choices u have during a fight the different ways of attack should be a in the moment thing i should be able to choose between not playstyles where i straight up have to spam 1 attack to deal damage not to mention just how dogshit the shield is id rather have a gunblade that has normal mobility instead of a shield that has 0 interaction with the kit they could solve this by making a guardpoint that reloads/gives back wyrmstake or something
I agree with these 2. Gunlance doesn't need buffs, but rather a fundamental change in how it works. I like the idea of removing shelling types and just having the one, especially since like he said, we're always shoehorned into using normal (ex. fatalis gunlance). Maybe a perfectly timed block/guardpoint leads to one of two actions, one is dodge, the other instantly reloads your shells and has a followup attack like downward slam that you can then do a fullburst. In order for me to be a gunlnlance main again i would love to see bullet barrage again, i had such great clear times and comfy fights with it.
@@allyusjaeger9145 I agree shelling types are pretty annoying. I don't think they will completely remove them, but maybe we just get the option to customize the shelling types, like swapping weapon mods for bowguns. I also would be down to have your shelling ammo similar to a kinsect as an upgradebale weapon part with different trees that give customizing options. Like less shells but you get a higher shelling level and a reload move, or less shells and a bonus to raw and defense.
12:50 (Speculation) I don’t know why, but I’m imagining most weapon-specific skills being attached to the weapons themselves, with only particular armor sets buffing particular weapon types… (Speculation)
I mainly use the Switch Axe and honestly I’ve had no complaints, I was a DB main before and now it’s one of my secondary weapons. I learned how to use most weapons with the exception of Lance 😂. But I’m excited to see what each weapon has to offer and which one I’ll end up picking
I'm curious what we will get to do with bow new changes. Bow has changed pretty wildly from world to rise, in rise changing into a close range more than medium to long with the melee dodging. So i hope they do something unique with it again this time around too.
The hunting horns in world were peak. Rise hunting horns were oversimplified and lacked depth and it just made them boring to play. I'm so excited they're going back. I can't wait for Wilds!
@@kennethsimmons2419 It's so interesting because I started with Rise HH and CB as my first two weapons in my first MH game. I only played about 3-5 hours of it 'cause demotivation and other games to play (also had no idea how to really PLAY MH). Now that I got into World with friends, I just beat the game last night, and I heavily enjoy Hunting Horn alongside Hammer and Charge Blade. Looking forward to more HH gameplay and hoping that either a new cool weapon or two comes around *or* I get into another weapon. Also debating a bit on learning Switch Axe.
I seem to be the only lance main here 😮 but I love my pokey boy and rose felt soooo good I hope we keep the quick gaurd parry it feels so refreshing having the lance actually feel like a lance and shield, not just the shield
My history with Monster Hunter is a bit funny because I initially rather hated it. I was swapping between a lot of different weapons, Great Sword, Sword & Shield, Insect Glaive, Long Sword and bounced of all of them in the demo environment of MHW. A content creator I followed at the time kept vouching for it though, so I knew there was something here I was missing, so I tried again, and having been playing Bloodborne at the time, I saw Switch Axe as something similar, and it instantly clicked for me for whatever reason as just making sense, and I was in. I can reasonable use those other weapons I didn't like before, but I generally swap between SA and the Charge Blade depending on what I'm doing, and that is unlikely to change for Wilds
Funny enough, I've heard several people say they hated the series their very first time and are now huge fans lol. You just have to find the weapon that clicks for you.
Sword and Shield, Hammer, and Switch Axe main myself. I’m hoping that SwAxe takes some of the basic changes that Rise gave it since it flows much better there than it did in World.
world horn's a ton of fun. long time horn mains were mostly disappointed with rise because it took aspects of the weapon that made it unique away. the weapon feels very heavy and precise to use in world, hope you have fun.
oh, and I swapped to hammer in rise. I believe hammer is the most well-designed weapon in rise, with three wholly distinct viable playstyles and a heavy focus on fundamental skills while still having a ton of flair.
I’ve been a charge blade main since MH4U, when I got into the game. I didn’t start to diversify until MHW. Now I am a Charge Blade/Switch Axe main lol. Dabble in Sw&Sh, Hammer and Long Sword too
@@LikelyFeral idk why but Charge Blade and switch axe just has that enigma feel to it, it’s weird lol not because it’s “too hard” but it’s so non conventional. Switch axe is just technical oonga boonga though lol
I have no complaints about this game coming however I'd really like to see a hyper brutal/survival monster hunter with realistic gore and intensely dire survival situations with a heavy coop focus. It's not your typical monster hunter idea but damn I'd like to see how dark Capcom can go with it.
I would be SO on board for a game like that. I don't know if it should actually be a "Monster Hunter" game, but something very close with all those other elements. Something where the monsters are terrifying to fight
@@brandonbennett6211 I personally hope MH never gets too dark or gritty and I appreciate that the series can have both daunting threats but still have a sense of heroism and whimsy and not dread and hopelessness
I main bow. It’s my comfort weapon. I truly have no idea which weapon I want to play. Since the full movesets of most weapons haven’t come out yet I’ll see once more info is out.
I'm more of an all around hunter. I've heavily mained gunlanc3, lance, hammer, insect glaive and sword and shield and am very familiar with charge blade, longsword, switch axe and hunting horn. It's just all the ranged weapons, dual blades and great sword I haven't touched.
I always stop using guns eventually because they always end up feeling broken. And if you don't min-max them it just feels suboptimal. Still, I esspecially love meme builds, like clutch claw HBG
Im hoping iai slash is reworked to no longer trivialize spirit gain, and Foresight slash is dropped in favor of letting fade slashe's hop count as a dodge roll
I just got into lance and I don’t think I will play it if they don’t bring anchors rage and that charge attack think it’s called wide sweep rise was perfect lance game
SnS, Hunting Horn and Gunlance 4 me. I'm very happy to learn the dooter is returning back to its more technical style; Not to say Rise HH is unfun, but I just find it less enjoyable, since they moved alot of the emphasis off of the preformance in exchange for a more combo-oriented playstyle. I 100% wish to see more physical moves on Hunting Horn, just really don't want them to cut down on what makes it unique, yk?
As a gunlance main, I can 100% agree with your closing statements in that GL could use some buffs to shelling damage. Artillery, Felyne Bombardier, and getting your base attack stat as high as possible, all effect shell damage and even with max buffs, its....lower than I'd like lol. However, I strongly believe that one could make the most broken, optimized, downright nasty build for any given weapon but it won't ever trump someone with an experienced hand with that weapon. It's like giving a monke a handgun. Really powerful and dangerous, but they don't know how to use it. As a GL main, I'm outdamaging LS and GS users which giddies me to no end lol. Ego aside, I'd love some buffs to my GL come Wilds, but above all else, mastering *your* weapon, a weapon that just speaks to u and feels *good*, no, *great* to use, truly makes any hunter among the elite. So hyped for Wilds! 🥳🥳
gl suffers because it doesn't get enough skills that synergize with it like other weapons do. its a similar issue in league of legends were items benefit some heros more than others. ive come to the conclusion if more ranged skills worked for gunlance then i could see it competing with other weapons if those skills were reworked for gunlance specifically, it is a gun after all. the fact heavensent worked on gunlance for both its blademaster portion by restoring sharpness and ranged portion by reloading ammo is the perfect example of how useful ranged skills can be for gunlance. frontier let gunlance work with the recoil skill which let you dodge faster after shelling, stuff like that really would help it a ton.
I used to be a DB main until I grew up and became a IG main with bow for a secondary I just really like the sudden, timed mobility over the constant movement that kinda gets old after a bit
Balance is 100% important in PVE games. If not you end up with things like Glaive in MH4 which were so broken no other weapon could do what that stick was able to do. The motion values were really high. When this things happend the player base tend to follow the path of least resistence and thee weapon becomes so popular it outshinies everything else. On the other the casee for LS is interesting, at least in Gen 5. It's not really that overpower, it just is super flashy (counters, sheat, helmbreaker). The weapon was not OPitself to drive player to use it, the real OP weapons on Gen 5 are the range ones.
I'm just trying to understand the thought process behind this. Why is it a detriment to the game for people to be having fun? I don't play longsword or bowguns, but other people playing them doesn't make me enjoy my weapon(strength hammer) any less. The less popular weapons like the lances could use some modernization, but the problem with doing so is risking alienating portions of the player base that are dedicated mains of those weapons like what happened in rise with hunting horn.
@austinhawkins5922 I don't mind them having fun, but when a certain weapon deals twice the damage of another, it just feels bad to use the other one in any serious way. It's also true that the community tends to take the path of least resistance which is why no one plays status (or element minus DB or Bow) for the most part.
Bowguns are strong because their effectiveness depends heavily on the specific bowgun and not necessarily because they scale well. The effectiveness is very binary, one level difference in recoil can half the dps making it practically unusable. Conversely one recoil buff can turn it into the meta for the entire game (glutton for example). this creates a huge difference between the best bowguns and the next best bowguns, something you don't see much in other weapons. Whenever they make the top times it's because some new bowgun with ridiculous recoil or ammo stat is added to the game. with the amount of customization they have it's near impossible to balance every permutation, so some slip through the cracks. Do the arena quests with the preset gear and you won't be thinking bowguns are overpowered I would guess the "realistic recoil" is addressing this issue here, can't really imagine what else it could be. balance is important I agree but I hope they don't have to neuter the customization we had for it
True true. I like them all, but they don't all click with my playstyle, so there's definitely favorites that float to the top. I rarely play Swax, CB, Bow, or IG.
The one thing i want to know about focus mode is, did they make contextual animations for your normal attacks? Most attacks have set angles they hit at so will focus mode let you alter their path? Like CB's axe mode double swing or LS's spirit round slash always being horizontal so they can only hit most monster's feet. Or if a monster is lower to the ground, like a balahara's tail since he uses the lagi skeleton, will lance's higher damage high thrust heavy attack be able to hit those lower parts. If this is how it works, their marketing is kind of foolish for not say8ing so sooner. All they said is that it makes it easier for new players to aim and learn. If this truly lets you hit parts of a monster with attacks that normally can't hit those parts because of their animations, then a lot of players will use this system and love it even in high level play. Them saying focus mode is not needed, along with other things they've said, implies that those special wound attacks may still function out of it. If it is only in focus mode, we will find out if using it or just attacking till the wound is gone on its own is more damage. Mounting off ledges was in MH4, MH4U, Generations, and GU before World. During those interviews they admitted that the skill system is not finished yet. Well in 5th gen your song combos were in the UI so you don't have to memorize them unless you turn the UI off. It's not MH1 where the only way to know your song list and combos was to go to your room in town to read a book. Lance was my original main, Now i play lance, gl, hh, cb, ig, and hbg for the most part.
I would be surprised if focus mode lets us alter the angles to that extent. Maybe it just points you in that direction? I hope we get more info on it soon.
In world, all of a hunting horns songs (with generally self explanatory names) are displayed in your Hud at all times. The need to memorize your songs has been a thing of the past since 2018
On the subject of balance, I don't think any weapon is in need of nerfs, only that some of the weaker weapons recieve more buffs, and bowguns are the way they are for a reason. Lets say for example they nerf spread 3's, which are usually the strimgestbthing you can do on hbg, to be weaker relative to every other damaging ammo type. Now you have an entire playstyle become invalidated because taking the huge risk associated with standing directly in front of a montser while taking increased damage and the worst mobility in the game is not being rewarded whatsoever. The real issue is guns like the giasmagorm lbg that have incredible raw, move while reloading and shooting, a ton of viable ammo types, and ample clip size. No gun should excel in every single category like it does.
Just curious, when did they say that mounting was coming back? I hadn't heard of this but I'm glad because mounting was one of my favourite features from World.
I've heard ppl referring 'corner horners' in videos for years now. I myself am a hh main. I have well over 1900 hours between 2 consoles since world came out. Im not being hyperbolic when i say this either; i have NEVER been, met, or observed a corner horner. I think thats something that ppl just say at this point because just in the corner playing songs and not participating in the fight is something that I have never seen.
@@LikelyFeral I'm thinking it will depend on the mounted combat options. Like if i can both have my Big damage and be fast on the mount, that would be awesome (even though it sounds op}
Fredoom unite: Sword and shield 3 ultimate: I'm still a sword and shield boy 4 ultimate: Charge blade my beloved and sword and shield Generations: funnily enough this is my favorite version of chargeblade because of adept style and striker sns Gen U: Valor in general made most weapons so fun for me hammer, cb, greatsword, long sword. Striker sns is still king as well. Also a lot of Aerial Insect glaive (favorite IG in the series too) World: i only played CB wasn't a huge fan of the game so didn't play a ton Iceborne: Still CB but the game was a lot more fun with savage axe mode also sword and shield because perfect rush is so fun Rise: best version of sword and shield by far it is so goddamn fun here specially after they killed CB for me lol Sunbreak: I went ALL in on elemental cb and axe hopper and it is just so fun to crank huge numbers again hahahaha also sword and shield with shield bash it became even more versatile and overall still my favorite weapon. Long sword is a lot of fun too. Once i got my hands on heaven sent i play a lot of insect glaive and dual blades as well. Lance is up there as well.
15:06 whod be nice if some weapons were a difrent damage type than they are tradicionaly, like rajang GS and SNS whod be blunt, not slash... because they are big bonks, and some hammers play like a hamer but be like battleaxes that cut instead of blunt as for main weapon, im mostly main CB but i play with everything, usualy i lose interest or get bored once the learning curve for a weapon ends and i dont hunt a monster all that much to master theyir moveset, i hunt what i need 1x min every monster and thats it. i know how to play with everything, some bether, some worst or basic. but my CB allways hit difrent, specialy if im fighting a monster that charges alot, its funy to stun them with a GP
First main was IG, as a true french and MH4U being my first MH (the sterotypes are trues all my homies main IG) Now in Rise I am a HBG main because the Daora HBG looks amazing (big iron in their mouth goes boom) with gunlance as a secondary (it is fun to fly and be able to go higher than a Rathalos, who's the king of the sky now you f)

My thought on a new weapon would be nothing on release. Probably like a 20% surprise chance or less but I'd wager on an expansion following the release they might.
That would be a good way sell an expansion for sure
My most used weapons are greatsword in World and charge blade in Rise. Btw this is the first video of you I have seen but I have played and enjoyed armored core 6.
I'll have more of both AC and MH on the way. There's a few new things popping up in my live and shorts as well if you are in to those.
I'm very curious to see what they do with bowguns. I love playing them, but they just get too powerful towards the end.
Maybe since the armor doesn't swap you just keep what skills come on the armor but the decos will be tied to the weapons? Atleast so that mitigates the concern for skills becoming useless.
Could be a thing. So the weapons would just have a chunk of slots rather than the armors?
could also become similar to how Safi weapons work with you selecting the skills/buffs you want
@SevenMilliFrog true true
@@SevenMilliFrogoh god i hope the game isnt safi gacha
I can see most people using Melee primary/ Ranged secondary especially at the start,.though i can see a potential for LS/CB being both weapons that depend on a charge mechanic making use of LS for faster/enraged enemies and CB for when they're exhausted and easier to chain combos for the true discharge.
There's going to be some really interesting options. Esspecially for weapons with cooldown periods too.
Lance main here!!! My secondarries would be charge blade, longsword and hammer. Cant wait to see what they add anything to the lance, see if it gets any sauce so to speak lol.
Hope it gets some sauce! I just want more than the pokes and sweep :P
Started with CB/IG kind of, now i pride myself as a gunlance main
You should be proud! I'm learning lance first, but love Gunlance as a weapon. I'm jist terrible at it lol. So after lance, comes gunlance.
The gear might give a number of bonus points or slots or something, but the actual decos don't go specifically into the gear pieces themselves (though that doesn't make much sense.)
That would be a clunky but functional system.
That would be interesting, but I would DREAD looking through that list of decos!
🤣 that it is! No shame in starting in Rise! Though I expect Wilds will be a little more toned down for the combat.
If they manage to do something fresh for one of the most enjoyable boom sticks in gaming, then heck yeah I’m still down for the combat (if not, I still have dual blades or charge blade) I had a few hours into World, and I loved it nonetheless!
Wohoo found a new monster hunter channel to follow
Yep! Have new stuff in the works.
I have to say, as a Gunlance main I’m a bit worried. Gunlance got some love in Rise and Sunbreak but with the lack of news so far I really do hope it still feels as impactful to use in Wilds.
I hope so. It's pretty stylish and fun in Rise.
I mean it's just easy mode in world too
This looks and sounds amazing, greatsword mains unite and crush the longswords
🤣
Re: gunlance balance, I feel like the mhw endgame is pretty decently balanced for casual/SOS hunts, but I'm not a dps speedrunning expert.
Also, anytime an LBG or HBG joins my hunt, we smash the monster to bits, so they're definitely very strong weapons.
I'm really excited for wilds, too. Thanks for getting all this info together 👍
Yea, they smash monsters for sure! Maybe another balancing issue if the other players want to actually have to fight it lol
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that the skills will be more generalized towards all weapons so that they’re not as specific, such as guard up. But apparently the skills are changing A LOT.
That's a theory I've seen, but I don't think I've seen anyone with actual knowledge on it. Should find out something at Gamescom I would imagine.
@@LikelyFeral genuinely excited for it! Thanks for the vids breaking down things and keeping us up to date! Keep doing you!
I would love sleep into greatsword. I wonder if we will see more status in general as a second weapon would mitigate their poor atk
Played hammer in world, and horn in rise. Dabbled with heavy bowgun and switch axe but I love my bonk
The bonk IS very satisfying
Hammer since MH Tri. Its simply the best
A little more airborne and flashy in Rise for sure.
I'm a fellow SnS main, with Dual Blades being my secondary that I've played almost as much. I sort of switch mains depending on the game, tho SnS is still my ultimate favorite.
Yea, I've switched a bunch but always come back to SnS
@@LikelyFeral The agility and versatility is just too good to give up lol
@BaronSterling right!?
Me: we need a new weapon!
Also me: cool cool, imma pick the bow.
Pffff, that's how it is lol. That's definitely been me. Like... oh wow! Insect glaive and charge blade look awesome! *equips SnS*
I fell in love with bow in world (the serotonin injected into my brain from thousand dragons helped) and it’s been my main in rise and GU ever since
Ohhhh thousand dragons really did do that!
Dreaded long sword main but I have plenty of other off mains I can play comfortably too, if that’s any consolation lol
Subbed tho, great video
Haha, I may complain about the LS, but it's really just because the devs love you more lol.
Glad you liked it 👍
I'm a Gunlance main, and I honestly don't think we need some huge buffs.
@jeifi I like that idea
My main has to be insect glaive with bow as my second favourite, really looking forward to using both in a single hunt in wilds
Definitely excited to see what they do with that system.
12:50
(Speculation)
I don’t know why, but I’m imagining most weapon-specific skills being attached to the weapons themselves, with only particular armor sets buffing particular weapon types…
(Speculation)
Certainly a possibility. Maybe it's something none.of.us have thought about as well.
I mainly use the Switch Axe and honestly I’ve had no complaints, I was a DB main before and now it’s one of my secondary weapons. I learned how to use most weapons with the exception of Lance 😂. But I’m excited to see what each weapon has to offer and which one I’ll end up picking
For sure. Excited about the "major reworks"
I am most excited for clashes. It just looks badass
It definitely does! I wonder what the smaller weapons are going to do?
The lance is the symbol of my pride. I will not play any MH game without using it. It's my heart and soul. Without it, I feel lost kinda 😅
I have been loving the lance!
@@LikelyFeral I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I'm curious what we will get to do with bow new changes. Bow has changed pretty wildly from world to rise, in rise changing into a close range more than medium to long with the melee dodging. So i hope they do something unique with it again this time around too.
Yea, with the supposedly heavy changes to the bowguns, I wonder how much Bow will change too.
I really need a Hunting Horn showcase. The Greatsword looked awesome, but I need more stuff to digest while I wait.
For real. Seems like next month we get stuff, it's a long wait though.
I do think we need one more Blunt type weapon. Some good candidates are Tonfa, Dual Caestus, Magnetic Mace(Rurikhan's Idea) or Greatshield
I'm so here for a great shield! Though they all sound great.
The hunting horns in world were peak. Rise hunting horns were oversimplified and lacked depth and it just made them boring to play. I'm so excited they're going back. I can't wait for Wilds!
Me either, it's going to be GREAT!
If I don’t use my lance, I’ll probably be using my cb or my sns as I live them both too
It is nice to have the various parry and guard options that have been added. But yea, there's certainly not many lance mains out there lol
The only part of the wounding an clutch claw i will miss is the attack animation and the graphical representation of the wound
The part I will miss is HBG cannon to the face with Velkhanas crit ability
Hammer and LS main here, but really enjoy a lot of the weapons. Only haven't tried HBG, DB, Bow and gunlance at this point
Gotta try them out!
I played the boom stick for as long as I played, which was since the rise Demo lol.
It's great fun in Rise
Sword and Shield, Hammer, and Switch Axe main myself. I’m hoping that SwAxe takes some of the basic changes that Rise gave it since it flows much better there than it did in World.
Didn't play it much in either, but Rise had alot of good ideas so doesn't surprise me.
@@LikelyFeral It’s a weird weapon to get the hang of, that’s for sure.
Hammer boi from the early beginning to now. Tho have dabbled with the heavy bowgun❤
Dedication!
Bow main here. Going to be running Bow and GS in Wilds
Nice! Bow is fun, I just always preferred bowguns over it for ranged. Like the booms :P
Started with world and instantly loved the swaxe, though I do have fun with all the weapons now.
Nice. A ton of people started with World.
world horn's a ton of fun. long time horn mains were mostly disappointed with rise because it took aspects of the weapon that made it unique away. the weapon feels very heavy and precise to use in world, hope you have fun.
oh, and I swapped to hammer in rise. I believe hammer is the most well-designed weapon in rise, with three wholly distinct viable playstyles and a heavy focus on fundamental skills while still having a ton of flair.
Yea World's seems to be what people like the most. Thanks :)
Did like the distinct playstyles
I’ve been a charge blade main since MH4U, when I got into the game. I didn’t start to diversify until MHW. Now I am a Charge Blade/Switch Axe main lol. Dabble in Sw&Sh, Hammer and Long Sword too
Almost the exact opposite of me minus the SnS lol
@@LikelyFeral idk why but Charge Blade and switch axe just has that enigma feel to it, it’s weird lol not because it’s “too hard” but it’s so non conventional. Switch axe is just technical oonga boonga though lol
@dechuawilliams it does feel very non-conventional. That's a good way to put it.
My eye twitched every time he said "Shield & Sword". xD
:P yea apparently that's a habit I picked up somewhere... gotta work on that.
Yea that's fair
Hammer and greatsword main for me! Kinda looking to learn a spread bow build for a range option 🤔
Knowing a ranged option is nice 👌
With them saying they are focusing in individualizing the weapons, it just may be a thing.
HBG main since MH1. Second is usually either charge blade or hammer.
Oh nice, HBG in MH1! That was a different time.
I just got into lance and I don’t think I will play it if they don’t bring anchors rage and that charge attack think it’s called wide sweep rise was perfect lance game
I do miss the dash jump move.
Yeah they perfected gunlance too, blast dash was perfection and I’ll be so disappointed if it’s not in wilds
@hexbug101 blast dash is SO much fun
@@LikelyFeral should I try gunlance
@arianallen9683 if giant explosions appeal to you, absolutely. In Rise esspecially there are several different playstyles as well.
Just show me my beloved lance and gunlance capcom. Its all I want to see for wilds now. Just so I can bring both and embody "THE WALL"
Looking forward to seeing what they do with them!
SnS, Hunting Horn and Gunlance 4 me. I'm very happy to learn the dooter is returning back to its more technical style;
Not to say Rise HH is unfun, but I just find it less enjoyable, since they moved alot of the emphasis off of the preformance in exchange for a more combo-oriented playstyle. I 100% wish to see more physical moves on Hunting Horn, just really don't want them to cut down on what makes it unique, yk?
I totally get that! Seems like a lot of people are excited for the return of that playstyle.
Well put. The hype is REAL
gl suffers because it doesn't get enough skills that synergize with it like other weapons do. its a similar issue in league of legends were items benefit some heros more than others.
ive come to the conclusion if more ranged skills worked for gunlance then i could see it competing with other weapons if those skills were reworked for gunlance specifically, it is a gun after all. the fact heavensent worked on gunlance for both its blademaster portion by restoring sharpness and ranged portion by reloading ammo is the perfect example of how useful ranged skills can be for gunlance.
frontier let gunlance work with the recoil skill which let you dodge faster after shelling, stuff like that really would help it a ton.
@petercottantail7850 that would actually do SO much for it.
22:30
As long as the bow still has infinite base ammo and allows me to aim for specific parts, I’ll probably be fine with the significant changes.
I would expect that will stay
I used to be a DB main until I grew up and became a IG main with bow for a secondary I just really like the sudden, timed mobility over the constant movement that kinda gets old after a bit
Fair enough 👌
Shield and sword is my main, greatsword and horn are my guilty pleasure
A good selection, and 3 of my favorites.
my main is the hammer! the move set is so versatile and weighty, especially level 2 charge attack
Hammer is super versatile and surprisingly fast
Dual blades for me, I am planning on running a set of elemental dual blades and a pair of status dual blades in wilds
Fingers crossed we get double status dual blades. Loved that idea from Viper Tobi.
Cannot wait for this game to hunt another 1,000 hours!!!
Heard that!
lol now that Capcom is drip feeding us the weapons there will have to be a part 2 to this.
Haha right! There will be a ton to cover after Gamescom too I'm sure
The ranged ones definitely were, but yea, the community will follow the path of least resistance to the detriment of the game.
Do the arena quests with the preset gear and you won't be thinking bowguns are overpowered
I would guess the "realistic recoil" is addressing this issue here, can't really imagine what else it could be. balance is important I agree but I hope they don't have to neuter the customization we had for it
Yea the arena bowguns are rough. It's true it's a delicate balance, and there are so many permutations it's likely impossible to get it perfect.
While tendorizing is leaving, I do hope we can still use the hookshot to cling onto monsters to blast em into walls. That shit felt good.
I wonder what mechanics we will get with the slinger for sure. I don't know that we will get clutch claw though.
LS, Bow, CB, SB where my weaps in world and rise (overall mostly SB/LS)
SB? Typo? Regardless, a solid selection.
Charge blade is best weapon. You cannot change my mind
Haha, fervent beliefs
Yes Charge Blade! Its the love child of most weapons and always useful in a hunt!
Agreed and an honorable mention the switch axe
@@ChrisWillis-k8i we always love our fellow transformers. Over complex weapon supremacy!

A good set
my main at the moment is bow, but switchaxe has always been in my heart, ever since i tried it on p3rd. i like all weapons, though!
True true. I like them all, but they don't all click with my playstyle, so there's definitely favorites that float to the top. I rarely play Swax, CB, Bow, or IG.
I love playing swaxe. it's so much fun
I like the IDEA of Swaxe, it's just never clicked long term for me.
Love mount. Sns main and its easy to get mounts with. Also get to get ko, best of both worlds blunt and sever
SnS is so diverse. I likely won't ever give it up as one of my mains.
Starting to think the basic skills will be on armor. Like wex, evade w etc. But guard, offensive guard and other like skills only appear on weapons
That could be an interesting method
Greatsword always and forever.
It's the first weapon I ever played back in the original Monster Hunter
HBG is my main, I'll use lance to from time to time
Nice. HBG is very satisfying. Esspecially with all the explosive ammo options.
Yas I agree on that
I started to play whit then in World and I liked them
Ill probably do what i allways do and main sns and gunlance loved sns sence the first game way back when lol
An excellent option, not that I'm biased lol
My mains are probaby IG and CB (although under certain circumstances I'll use GS)
I mained GS for several games. Not recently though.
In world, all of a hunting horns songs (with generally self explanatory names) are displayed in your Hud at all times. The need to memorize your songs has been a thing of the past since 2018
I clearly haven't played horn in World in a long time lol
HH Main since the portable games
Nice! A long time
lance main here. Still not sure what I'll be using as a secondary weapon
Nice! Don't see many lance mains
i really loved wire bugs tho..really sad its not making a comeback here
I expect maybe the next "mobile" title will have them, but definitely can't say for sure. Those games tend to have the more over the top mechanics.
Yeah there was absolutely 0 chance wirebugs were staying lol
In 4 i was insect glaive world I was hbg rise i've picked up lbg for the mobility
Love the mines and that jump mine on LBG in Rise.
Definitely, guns like that are an issue. I wonder if the answer is in how certain skills affect guns rather than a direct nerf.
With every new, or when I replay one, I try to main a different weapon. on this one, idk what to use. I have bow, lance, swsh, and heavy bowgun left
Super curious what the hbg will be like this time.
Just curious, when did they say that mounting was coming back? I hadn't heard of this but I'm glad because mounting was one of my favourite features from World.
I couldn't say which one specifically I read it in, but I believe it was seen in the demo event.
Switch axe main second is GS here been playing since tri

I've heard ppl referring 'corner horners' in videos for years now. I myself am a hh main. I have well over 1900 hours between 2 consoles since world came out. Im not being hyperbolic when i say this either; i have NEVER been, met, or observed a corner horner. I think thats something that ppl just say at this point because just in the corner playing songs and not participating in the fight is something that I have never seen.
I've seen a couple, but it's be no means common. It has improved in the recent gens too.
@LikelyFeral even though the game is the same, I noticed a huge difference in the community depending on the platform. May I ask what console?

2nd Hammer
3rd light bowgun
A good selection
Fredoom unite: Sword and shield
3 ultimate: I'm still a sword and shield boy
4 ultimate: Charge blade my beloved and sword and shield
Generations: funnily enough this is my favorite version of chargeblade because of adept style and striker sns
Gen U: Valor in general made most weapons so fun for me hammer, cb, greatsword, long sword. Striker sns is still king as well. Also a lot of Aerial Insect glaive (favorite IG in the series too)
World: i only played CB wasn't a huge fan of the game so didn't play a ton
Iceborne: Still CB but the game was a lot more fun with savage axe mode also sword and shield because perfect rush is so fun
Rise: best version of sword and shield by far it is so goddamn fun here specially after they killed CB for me lol
Sunbreak: I went ALL in on elemental cb and axe hopper and it is just so fun to crank huge numbers again hahahaha also sword and shield with shield bash it became even more versatile and overall still my favorite weapon. Long sword is a lot of fun too. Once i got my hands on heaven sent i play a lot of insect glaive and dual blades as well. Lance is up there as well.
What's CB if not just a SnS lol. For real though, some fun changes in the last few games!
15:06 whod be nice if some weapons were a difrent damage type than they are tradicionaly, like rajang GS and SNS whod be blunt, not slash... because they are big bonks, and some hammers play like a hamer but be like battleaxes that cut instead of blunt
as for main weapon, im mostly main CB but i play with everything, usualy i lose interest or get bored once the learning curve for a weapon ends and i dont hunt a monster all that much to master theyir moveset, i hunt what i need 1x min every monster and thats it. i know how to play with everything, some bether, some worst or basic. but my CB allways hit difrent, specialy if im fighting a monster that charges alot, its funy to stun them with a GP
The idea of having certain weapons change damage type is certainly an interesting one
Switch Axe Main!
😎
If this game online I mean like we can meet everyone in one server with biggest Map and can beat any monster in one map I mean Like He'll dive
My assumption is 4 players, but we shall see!
First main was IG, as a true french and MH4U being my first MH (the sterotypes are trues all my homies main IG)
Now in Rise I am a HBG main because the Daora HBG looks amazing (big iron in their mouth goes boom) with gunlance as a secondary (it is fun to fly and be able to go higher than a Rathalos, who's the king of the sky now you f)
Haha a stereotype fornsure, but yea, GL in rise with blast dash is pretty awesome.
