Scorn is one of those games that when someone tries to explain it. It just creates more questions. I would love to see Roanoke do a deep dive on most, not all but most of the species in the game. Lore brain wants answers, but gamer brain sees gun, sees blood. Then hails the blood god.

i made a comment hypothesizing an angler fish fish man w lures on the feet because roanoke would instinctively be attracted to them then stuck looking at them as the lures would highlight and accentuate them so he could properly look them over only realizing too late he had been drawn in as he looks up to realize its already on him and hes donzo

I like to imagine Scorn to be kind of like Agony but instead of all of Hell its just one specific corner with all the bodies being of the same person constantly being born, chased around and dying only to be reborn and the process repeats itself infinitely.
Man, I played Scorn on Xbox when it came out and as a fan of Clive Barker and H.R. Geiger’s work I enjoyed it. It was definitely a trip! I personally would love to see a series on your takes on well, everything about the game sir

i mean, if we are talking about the same underworld film franchise, the whole werewolves / lycans / vampire is explained in the films. It would just be roanoke explaining how mitosis? helps create new muscles and all all over again, he already covered plenty of such werewolves/vampire. i love the franchise, one of my favorites despite it's obvious flaws, but from roanoke's POV it wouldn't be that interesting to cover.
@@Sthewo-Iregan well, obviously the Marcus and William, and by extension vampires, werewolves and lycans, could be explained away as a mutated rabies virus but hybrids like Michael or true immortals like Alexander are a different matter. Plus it wouldn't be the first time he's covered either vampires or werewolves, with the latter being distinct from lycans.
@ it's not "could be explained" it IS how it's explained in the films lore, i think it's when they meet alexander corvinus, hybrids are the same, they are direct descendant of the corvinus bloodline and still posses the same dna that allows mutation and thus they can combine both gene pools. and same for the transition from werewolf to lycan it's explained in the 3rd film Underworld : rise of the lycans, a baby was born with natural immunity to the virus and thus a mutated virus was born which allowed consciouness to remain. Like i said, everything is already explained in the film, and he already covered such stories, it wouldn't bring much to the table to cover thoses films

When I played it, it was my head canon that everything was human. Maybe one of those schemes for elevation included replacing all life and technology with modified human life. It also possible that humans were all that was left in a world they neglected or destroyed.
I think a look at and breakdown of the other creatures would be awesome. This game is really one of a kind imo and the content within seems perfect for this channel concerning the biology of it

I read In the Courts of the Crimson Kings by S. M. Stirling and in that book, there’s a race of people (Martians) who use bio-tech (or tembst) like guns that use guns utilize methane-propelled neurotoxin-laced projectiles and fungus grenades, along with psychic Diadems/Crowns. I highly recommend the book!
I have seen stuff on this game here and there, never knowing what the heck was going on. Honestly, I would really like to see videos on each of the creatures though. Seems like it would be interesting, and if the lore is pretty deep, I'd surmise that the episodes would be pretty good.
Hypothesis: the parasite (original protag) is in fact conscious, or partly so, and stopping the player protag from entering the gate/higher dimension at the end game was done to protect the player. I think a mistake was made by humanity at some point in the process of elevating themselves, and the final act of the parasite is done to avoid repeating this mistake and possibly making the situation much, much worse (yes, it can get worse than extinction if they have technology involving reincarnation). I also don't think they player dies. In fact, they may actually be the only human to truly ascend in consciousness.
The end result with the Parasite does look like some kind of chrysalis so it's entirely possible thay both the Parasite and Second Protagonist are being broken down and reformed into some kind of new life. And that may be it, this new creature will be free from the genetic modification of the Old Ones and capable of bringing new life to this world. Or, maybe it's as simple as the Parasite breaking down the Second Protagonist to grow a new body for themselves, just to survive a little longer.

Parents would sell their kids or orphans were taken, then they would be placed in confined vessels, like boxes, vases, or just being bound. Think of those ancient skulls that are squeezed to make long and tall occipital bun, or bound feet and neck bands in recent history, but full body modifications.
Unfortunately it's not fiction, it's just a thing that nobody talks about. It's hard to find, but it's real. The people who did it were called comprachicos

It looks like the first protagonist was indeed reincarnated into the second body, and it is perhaps some lingering ethereal connection between the the now-feral flesh of protagonist and its former consciousness being the reason why it attaches itself to the second protagonist, an attempt to be whole again.
Scorn is such a strange game its by definition unfinished but I love that you are not using its cursed development cycle to explain away the unexplained parts of the game Please keep going I want a deep dive on every aspect of this game because we will probably never get a sequel and that is such sad thing to happen because I really wanted to see what this game would have been if it had been taken all the way to its ultimate form. They had so many more sections of content planned for this game and I love this art style of horror I hope one day someone from the story team comes back with a buttload of money to finish the story, but at least you can speculate on the meaning behind this tragic game that could've been so much more. it makes me feel just a little bit better to hear someone go full nerd on what it all could mean I definitely want to know more about the jar creatures lore

Regarding the mutation I have a question more than a theory. A diferent channel that covered the game's lore a long time ago mentioned how in the concept art of the game the devs described the world becoming how it due to a massive war that ended up covering the whole world in layers of mustered gas. Those who survived moved to the next dimension and those who still get born need to find their way there and cross if they are worthy. Now here comes my question. Can mustered gas cause horrid cancerous mutations if we were to say that being can survive it for prolonged periods of time?
I remember watching a friend play through Scorn on his channel awhile back, it was trippy experience as we try to figure out what happened. It would be great to hear more of the lore of the Scorn world, especially what “transcending” is for these people

I remember someones theory that Scorn was meant as an allegory for a pregnancy from the fetus view or something, with a parasitic twin and a miscarriage at the end. Its a feverdream in any case.
Every episode I have clicked on so far with Roanoke has had my attention and my laughter on occasion. It's interesting to learn biology through an interesting topic rather than completely through boring text books
Bro love scorn, should do a series on this because the lore and the story you can read in the art book, and the game was actually suppose to be 2 games but the a lot of things got cut and made into one game, and the second game apparently from what I've read online it we got to explore more of the plant and see what actually happen to the civilizion
My guess is the wall and our character could be some sort of flesh golem just trying to finish whatever ingrained purpose it is driving us. Still not sure what we were trying to do through most of the game, but some of it seemed like we were trying to finish some kind of plan.

We called the parasite "Buddy" (because he would hold your items for you, even while he ate your insides and your brain). I remember someones theory that Scorn was meant as an allegory for a pregnancy from the fetus view or something, with a parasitic twin and a miscarriage at the end. Its a feverdream in any case.

Bro love scorn, should do a series on this because the lore and the story you can read in the art book, and the game was actually suppose to be 2 games but the a lot of things got cut and made into one game, and the second game apparently from what I've read online it we got to explore more of the plant and see what actually happen to the civilizion

My guess is the wall and our character could be some sort of flesh golem just trying to finish whatever ingrained purpose it is driving us. Still not sure what we were trying to do through most of the game, but some of it seemed like we were trying to finish some kind of plan.

dude I fucking love scorn. It was the last video game I played in 2024-finished it while streaming it to friends. We called the parasite "Buddy" (because he would hold your items for you, even while he ate your insides and your brain). Speaking of war. I remember hundreds of capsules on the surface, capsules that look like landing pods. Like some kind of bio-mechanic ODST operation. Nevertheless, the setting, lore and design of that game is weird and awesome and i wish to see more about it.
