Lethal Weapon, Under Siege, Silver Bullet, & The Firm were all great films thanks to Gary. However, he took Point Break to another level. Every time I eat a meatball sandwich I want a lemonade now.
I ordered a cameo video from Busey for only 300 bucks to wish my friend congratulations for reaching 1 million subscribers...and Gary took out his guitar and sang him a song. Best 300 bucks I've ever spent!
This guy is very inspiring, he's proof that decades of drugs, massive and repeated head trauma, and severe mental issues are no impediment to success if you just don't give a shite, and that appeals to me for some reason.
Life and Death is a lottery my fan. There is no promise of tomorrow. Think about so many actors that have died in the past 30 years that are younger then him.
It's about who you are, not necessarily what you do. If you're a good person and you like being a good person, people will like the good person you are. Gary is Gary and that's why people like the guy.
Gary could readily be born on your, or any other number of birthdays. Claiming it as his own. But he is nice enough not to do so. Because Busey has realized that birthday really means Before I Reach True Hope Destiny Absolves Youth
Without a doubt hands down…”The Buddy Holly Story” is so exceptional that he should have received the Academy Award! That was his singing which makes it even more remarkable!
Most people think Busey's "crazy", but he really is a fantastic human being, and no one can say otherwise. He doesn't pretend to be perfect, he's just himself, and that's why people love him. The Celebrity Big Brother season he did is an underrated testament to that. Contestants are voted off of that show by the general public. Gary Busey went to a foreign country with his "craziness" on display, to compete with a bunch of much younger people, and the British public voted him as the best person on the show. He literally won the hearts and minds of the British public, and he's the only American to ever have won in that show.
If you don’t know… he suffered a massive head injury due to a motorcycle accident sometime in the early to mid 90’s , so… there’s Busey pre and post accident.
Daniel Day Lewis was too busy not coming off as someone who would ask you to buy him a pack of menthols because the clerk won't let him inside the store anymore.
I love this guy, he really is an international treasure. It's tragic what's happened to him but his ability to rise above that and continue doing what he loves is really inspirational. His craziness isn't entirely his fault, so everyone gives him an automatic free pass and he acknowledges this and in turn tries his hardest to keep his behaviour rational when he can. That's why we love him.

I had the honor of being one of the Point Break skydivers but the most surreal memory was that I taught first jump course to Gary Busey (as well as Patrick Swayze) and the six hours one on one in a classroom and practice gear was incredible. You could not help but love this guy but the defining term was "intense". As an avid motorcycle vagabond I wish now I could take a trip with him but I will always cherish that memory.
That's awesome. I was curious why the producers would send Busey to jump school when his character never leaves the ground in Point Break.. just read an interview with him where he tells how he promised Swayze at the wrap party that he'd try it. He even mentions the 6 hours you worked with him. You know, you're almost certainly a contributing factor in his taking that role in Drop Zone soon after!
I really like Gary Busey. And I believe he made a very courageous recovery after his motorcycle accident in 1988. He worked hard to come back from VERY serious injuries. I admire him. He used his celebrity to shine a light on the danger of riding a motorcycle without a helmet. I think of him not only as a great actor, and good person, but as a hero, too.
I used to work in the film industry in my city. Gary filmed a production here a little more than 10yrs ago, 'Maneater'. Due to my position in the production, I was able to meet and befriend Gary...and I can tell you in all honesty...the 'stories' about him hardly do reality justice. Among many other things, I watched him pick a fight with...then proceed to beat up...a directors chair. Yes. A chair. Gary is batshit crazy.

"Surviving The Game" is awsome! I honestly dont know why this one isn't considered more of a classic. One of Busey's best preformances and Ice-T isn't bad ether.
Haven't seen it since it came out, but the ATV starter wires in the gas tank kill is still one of my favorite. Also the ending one "Always check the barrel." Good Stuff.
People can learn huge lessons from Gary Busey, like being themselves and free of the bullshit, a real person, everything in this world is fake and contrived Gary is not that. More power to Gary.
He has pitch perfect intensity for whatever he's doing, yet somehow he is in the stratosphere while we look on in amazement. I respect anyone who goes from football to acting with such flair and commitment. And I've always admired his spirit and sense of humor. Thanks for another one!
Gary Busey is an American icon! Every time I see him or hear his name it brings a smile to my face. People think he doesn't care, but he does, because he knows people love him.
Hes a genius.. He is anything but crazy.. He survived a severe traumatic brain injury, he deserves a standing ovation like Michael J Fox. He survived and we are lucky to still have him.
Silver Bullet is one of the most nostalgic films of my childhood but I truly love it as a film. Its a legit bloody horror film involving children and as a kid I loved and respected that so much. I love your video's too.
I first noticed Gary as the coolest uncle ever in Silver Bullet. Since then, I have always been a fan. I'm surprised about two things though, how long he's lived and his filmography. Wow, this man was busy.
I'm like thinking, what if you are born on midnight? Like.. Your head comes out 15 seconds before midnight and your legs are out 15 seconds after midnight? How do they determine what day you were born? Let's for second pretend it's the head that matters, and you are born on new years eve, this means you are born at the very end of the year and will be the youngest person in class, which sucks ass. But you would be the oldest person in class, which plays to your advantage bigtime, if they see you as born after your entire body is out. Life is all about the big questions.
I hung out with Gary a few times this summer. It was like teleporting into space and getting probed, but I don't regret the four meetings we had in LA. The dude is a ball of untamed energy and he smokes cigars like a chimney.
I've always loved every Gary performance. When I would bring him up around friends when talking about favorite actors they would always laugh and say "Gary? Seriously?" and I would have to go through explaining all this to them.
Someone needs to offer him a good role in a serious movie again. I think he’s got a great, Oscar winning, performance in him. Seriously. His story is moving, and there’s something profoundly tragic about his good natured, if scary, insanity. Life owes him a break, in his ability to do something with real credibility
i don't know, he is volitale, eccentric, and insurnace companies need to protect their clients. Best to remember himin his glory days. Gary is so Gary that seeing him in a movie might "take you out of the movie"
I agree. But his next great performance isn’t up to him so much as it is the director of the movie he appears in. Gifted actors IRL can be hamstrung by a director who decides to go with the wrong take. Stacey Keach and Jake Busey (ironically), are two who’ve suffered through this. Keach is a acting veteran who you’d think completely immune to such a thing but technical experience is not much of a match against an exacting, instructional director. That’s why Clint Eastwood, when directing, will only ask for his actors to ‘do it a little different’ and will only instruct an actor upon request. It works. I’ve never seen a badly directed movie of his.
He became a coke freak, and spiraled down hill from there, ending with the motorcycle accident. NOW..... he's a perfectly normal fixture in California.
You fail to realize TBI traumatic Brain Injury is very debilitating wile he may seem normal he's far from his days in movies, he'd forget lines, go off and say stuff on his mind and just be difficult to work with. Really he should do a movie on TBIs to change public perception of them. And show people what live is like after getting injured compared to what it was before. Its tottaly differnt.
“Soldier” is actually a pretty good movie. One of my favorite Kurt Russell flicks, and it’s quickly racing towards “cult” status. It actually officially takes place in the same Universe setting as “Blade Runner”.
The forever loveable, talented, dear, sweet, somewhat scary, funny, kindhearted, multi creative, life lesson professor, Gary Busey. I truly enjoyed this video and have to say we need to see more of Gary Busey!!!
+Ricky Cisneros Yes! I used to record every episode on VHS tape. I bet I still have them, as I still have all my old recordings from television during this time period. That being said, they're in a box somewhere.
His performance in “Surviving the Game” is top-tier Busey. “When you’re eating the flesh of the pig, look into his little beady eyes. That way you’ll be devouring his soul.”
I saw Carny (1980) the other day for the first time which featured memorable performance by Gary Busey. The film fails to build up to a dramatic climax but regardless, it's rich in atmosphere and characterization and it very much deserves it's cult classic status. I highly recommend it.
I loved Predator 2. Still own a DVD of it. And Busey is awesome in it. One of the reasons it’s so good. Don’t care what others think of it. I love it. And the friendship between him and Keanu, in Point Break, is a study in the best of buddy cop movies. I love his movie career and I’m always pleased to see him in anything. I really raises the level of engagement, in whatever he’s in. I feel for him too. That brain injury has been a tragic coda to his life
Surviving the game was an awesome film, Busey has a monologue in it that sends shivers down your spine. The cast is amazing as well, Rutger Hauer, John C Mcginley, Charles S Dutton, Ice T and F Murray Abraham to name a few. Silver bullet was an awesome film as well, would have been one of the best werewolf movies ever made had the creature design have been better, it's the only thing that let it down but Busey is ace in it, you can tell he's having a right blast making it :)
I love Surviving the Game from the first time i saw it and i was young. And Silver Bullet is great. I had a huge crush on Corey Haim but Gary did still the show. I wanted him to be my uncle lol.
Gary Busey was a great actor until a tragic accident caused a head injury which resulted brain damage and a change in his affect. I admire how he was able to put himself out there in spite his traumatic closed head injury. If you have a serious head injury and survive your personality can change like what happened to Gary.
@UCfjtasGXS6r_bo8fzBCC60Q I get you. I think the biggest issue is the negative assumption of a person for using one substance or coping mechanism over another. As if because theyve "turned to drugs" they are inherently " inferior" to somebody that gets through life another way. As if it is anyones place to decide how to live for anybody else. We need to stop looking at addicts as " damaged people" and start seeing them just as PEOPLE. The reasons people use drugs are their own. And tgere might even be a way for them to live well adjusted, " normal", "productive" lives as addicts. Others cant do that. Maybe they dont need help with their "drug problem"... Maybe they just need help with getting through life, coping with modern social stresses, or legitimate mental health problems. Maybe tge drugs ARE " helping" them just not in the most effective way. And maybe; if they got some help figuring out the ever shifting rules of this "game" we call "getting by", maybe theyd get to a point they felt they didnt need the drugs. I REALLY dont see "addiction" on a personal level as anything beyond the application of arbitrary rules and subjective morality. But on the large scale, it shows a systematic gap in expectations and experience.
Fast And Furious 1 is very well known for having ripped their entire story from Point Break. I mean a good few movies did but Fast And Furious did it worse than all others, made a franchise from it lol.
Lol you can be watching Lord Of The Rings where Gollum takes the ring from Frodo at the pit of Mount Doom. Think of Gary Busey and he's stolen that scene. Lol so true.
GARY'S ACTING ABILITIES ARE ABSOLUTELY OUT STANDING AND CREDITABLE !!! MAY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER CONTINUE TO BLESS HIM AS HE CONTINUES TO BLESS US WITH HIS TALENT !!!
The Narrative track want me to go to a MEGA gunstore, buy the whole inventory and then go to town... C R I N G E F E S T ! And that is 200% on those dirty rotten tomahawktotonians.
The movie 'Chasers' is a good watch for anybody that hasn't seen it. I always liked it in part because the big action/fight scene at the end of the movie took place at a little amusement park near where my family and I used to stay when we were on vacation down in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was noticeable by the goofy animal statues that the park had before they tore it down.
It's sad I had no idea he got into a motorcycle accident, but now that explains a lot about him. He was in a ton of movies that I consider to be classic and I can't imagine anyone else in those roles. I didn't realize how far back his acting career went either, so that was interesting. I'll have to watch that Buddy Holly movie now, etc.
..his Brains were hanging outside his head after the motorcycle accident. He shouldn't even be alive right now but somehow miraculously woke up out of a coma, ..still walking and talking, and still brilliant all be it somewhat erratic. ❤️Gary.
"He's on safari.... lions, the tigers, the bears, oh MY." "Do I look like I need a psychological evaluation?" LOVE Gary Busey 😂 Predator 2, Point Break and Under Seige were some of the first action movies I watched as a kid with my dad and Busey was ALWAYS a standout. Totally agree about him being one of the most reliable supporting characters in that era. And even his son has inherited those chompers and that charisma.
Gary Busey is amazing. his portrayal of Buddy Holly is fantastic. His craziness has always made him a better actor. Surviving the Game was mostly filmed in the Town where I live. Wenatchee Washington, it's a pretty good movie. It's a shame that since then the Town has become a shit hole.

"Surviving The Game" is awsome! I honestly dont know why this one isn't considered more of a classic. One of Busey's best preformances and Ice-T isn't bad ether.
Seen it recently hidden gem!! Great film
Haven't seen it since it came out, but the ATV starter wires in the gas tank kill is still one of my favorite. Also the ending one "Always check the barrel." Good Stuff.
+J Ahlderbrook
Great film, and partly due to Busey's gonzo performance! His monologue was intense!
it’s pure schlock. but fun.
I will always hold Silver Bullet as one of my "younger years" favorites!
People can learn huge lessons from Gary Busey, like being themselves and free of the bullshit, a real person, everything in this world is fake and contrived Gary is not that. More power to Gary.
His story about his dog in "Surviving the Game" is worth a Oscar alone.
'the' Prince Henry Stout
Absolutely!👍
I don’t even believe it was in the script I think they turned on the camera and told Gary to improvise for a hour
I always love him as the alcoholic, reluctant, yet loyal and supportive Uncle in "Silver Bullet." My kind of Uncle.
Mine too.
Busey is a legend! Silver Bullet is my favorite 80's werewolf flick, honestly
He has pitch perfect intensity for whatever he's doing, yet somehow he is in the stratosphere while we look on in amazement. I respect anyone who goes from football to acting with such flair and commitment. And I've always admired his spirit and sense of humor. Thanks for another one!
I feel like ozzy Osborn is similar
@@dkemp1337 I agree 👌
Out of all the things ive heard about Gary, i would have never imagined he was born on his birthday
The remake of Point Break ((never)) happened
God that remake was such garbage. I only accept the original.
Shame about his accident. He was crazy talented before it. Luminary.
If anyone's interested, "The Execution of Private Slovik" is available right here on YT. :)
Saw it when it first aired (1974). Good movie.
Thank you! I was just looking up where I could stream it.

"he said i was mentally unstable! Do i look mentally unstable?!"
Was gonna say you didn’t mention 48 hrs and another 48. I get him and Nick Nolte mixed up sometimes.
I think their actually as crazy as each other too.
Same person
Silver Bullet is one of the most nostalgic films of my childhood but I truly love it as a film. Its a legit bloody horror film involving children and as a kid I loved and respected that so much. I love your video's too.
I feel the same way about Silver Bullet! One of my childhood favorites too. 👍🏻
*videos
Its a great movie that i own and watch every time its on tv. It scared me as a kid.
I first noticed Gary as the coolest uncle ever in Silver Bullet. Since then, I have always been a fan. I'm surprised about two things though, how long he's lived and his filmography. Wow, this man was busy.
He was on Celeb Apprentice, and said I'm sober now I just smoke "WEED", he's the coolest dude!
I can't believe his role in Lost Highway wasn't mentioned at all
He was in Lost Highway? I don't remember him. You're not referring to that ugly guy aren't you? Cuz I think that's someone else.
@@tylerdordon99 He was! He plays Balthazar Getty's father!
@@SweatyOracle Oh yes, just checked IMDb. Wierd I totally forgot that despite this being my favourite David Lynch film.
I was just about to comment the same thing! Gary Busey was about the most normal thing in the whole movie!
@@tylerdordon99 He was the father of the Balthazar Getty character called Pete - the young man the Bill Pullman character turned into while in prison.
"He was born on his birthday in......" yeah no shit
I'm like thinking, what if you are born on midnight? Like.. Your head comes out 15 seconds before midnight and your legs are out 15 seconds after midnight? How do they determine what day you were born? Let's for second pretend it's the head that matters, and you are born on new years eve, this means you are born at the very end of the year and will be the youngest person in class, which sucks ass. But you would be the oldest person in class, which plays to your advantage bigtime, if they see you as born after your entire body is out.
Life is all about the big questions.
Isn’t that from ‘ DC Cab ‘ where he states that he doesn’t work on Elvis’ birthday. I think his birthday was same day.
Gary & Tom Cruise in the same scene? The craziness meter just hit eleven! 19:20
I hung out with Gary a few times this summer. It was like teleporting into space and getting probed, but I don't regret the four meetings we had in LA. The dude is a ball of untamed energy and he smokes cigars like a chimney.
Yeah .. we all believe that ..
@@bobbg9041 Bu then, that would be no fun.
'I'm with Busey' was one of the nuttiest TV shows ever made.
Oh come on man, Gary busey was great in under siege, but tommy lee jones stoled the show
Textbook example of villains that required a better film, oh, and, out-acting Steven Seagal doesn't exactly take a true thespian.

“Soldier” is actually a pretty good movie. One of my favorite Kurt Russell flicks, and it’s quickly racing towards “cult” status. It actually officially takes place in the same Universe setting as “Blade Runner”.
Better than Solo... which I also liked.
@@aquariandawn4750 agreed on both counts.👍🏼
The forever loveable, talented, dear, sweet, somewhat scary, funny, kindhearted, multi creative, life lesson professor, Gary Busey. I truly enjoyed this video and have to say we need to see more of Gary Busey!!!
"I'm With Busey" is the greatest reality television you will ever see!! It needs to be released on streaming its very difficult to find
My favorite series of all time.

Yes!
His monologue about his childhood dog was a classic
I saw Carny (1980) the other day for the first time which featured memorable performance by Gary Busey. The film fails to build up to a dramatic climax but regardless, it's rich in atmosphere and characterization and it very much deserves it's cult classic status. I highly recommend it.
If the world ever makes you go crazy, go Gary Busey crazy
Point Break has me convinced, he's an amazing actor!
I recently watched him in Point Break with Keanu Reeves and
Patrick Swayze. Awesome movie.
I AM AN FBI AGENT!
I always quote G.B.'s line "Utah, get me two." whenever I need 2 of anything.
His role in Surviving the Game was unforgettable.
I met him last year and he EXACTLY this! Being genuine isn't appreciated enough in this world #beabusey
Gary Busey was a great actor until a tragic accident caused a head injury which resulted brain damage and a change in his affect. I admire how he was able to put himself out there in spite his traumatic closed head injury. If you have a serious head injury and survive your personality can change like what happened to Gary.
To be fair, and considering he had his eggs very well scrambled hes doing pretty well for himself.

"it's Fast and the Furious but with surfboards" ...holy shit you are 100% on point 🤯
Fast And Furious 1 is very well known for having ripped their entire story from Point Break.
I mean a good few movies did but Fast And Furious did it worse than all others, made a franchise from it lol.
I saw many movies, and Gary steals EVERY f--king scene (In every movie, EVER, even if he wasn't in the movie).

I love that the fight involved the techniques of boxing versus karate. The scene was fun.

Personally I've always loved his portrayal of Buddy Holly. Awesome movie, breaks your heart.
