I have got to get me one of these to add to my collection. You and your channel are directly responsible for my new and growing vintage Apple collection. My wife would like to express her "thanks" for this.
I love the mini for so many reasons - the nostalgia effect, its the perfect size, it does exactly what it should - play music. Recently got a 1st gen blue 128 GB and now I'm kinda getting a few more just because. It's good to know there's still people who use and refurbish these. Back in the day, I bought a nano brand new as it was just released, and within a month or two I had swapped it for a friend's older iPod mini, so I've kinda always been a fan ha.
I found my parents old 1st gen iPod mini in pink so I thinking of flash modding it to 128gb from 4gb. It’s was stored in a microfiber cloth in their closet and it’s in pristine condition. Crazy how tech has evolved yet still usable after a decade
I’ve owned dozens of IPods since 2003. Stopped using them since the iPhone but now rock 5th gen ssd and iPod mini ssd (we’ll both are flash memory). It’s great to listen to music without interruption
Great video showing off the iPod mini! I remember seeing these all the time back in the mid-2000s, and I managed to get myself a gen 2 Blue model a few years ago! It's amazingly cute even to this day.
My first iPod was the green mini. Loved that thing. I still have it, cracked screen though. No idea if it still works but this giving me some serious nostalgia 😂
Just bought one with a 30 pin cable for $20. The problem is because of a few videos, the 2nd gen mini is getting pricier so I got a 1st gen. The battery life is 10 hours less but 8 hours is fine.
@@wistful3631 Loaded question because I don't know what you want in terms of features. I like my Mini because it doesn't take as much space in my pocket despite being thicker than 7th gen iPods
One of my cousins told me that she got an iPod Mini right before the Nano came out, so when everyone else had a Nano, people would ask her "What iPod do you have?", and she would have to show them her bulky iPod Mini.
Bought one for nostalgia and the gym. I remember when I was 13 and this thing launched, I saved up all of my money and bought a green one. Sadly, it was stolen
The iPod mini (2g) has all the upsides of classic iPods (monochrome screen, good audio, that early 2000’s aesthetic) with all the creature comforts of new iPods (18 hour battery life, easily upgradable to 64,128 and even 256gb, fully charged and functions from USB, doesn’t have issues with modern PCs if you don’t count the general iTunes jankyness)
I just actually got an ipod mini 2nd gen the other day and i love the thing! Heard you can also upgrade the hard drive in these ipods to CF/SD cards and i’ve seen people put up to 512gb of flash in their ipod mini!
I remember these dearly, never knowing which colour to go for! Thankfully three former friends at St Edmunds School were kind enough to let me try out the pink, gold and silver ones from the first range of minis Megan Coyle had the pink mini Sarah Jarvis owned a silver mini while Sobhian Hurley owned a gold mini
I found a 2004 model pink iPod mini under the refrigerator recently. It was most likely lost by someone during a Christmas gifting frenzy. I need to get a charger cord for it to see if it still works. (and I think I need to pull my refrigerator out from the wall more often)
I would submit that Apple cracked the door open on the rapid cost decrease of flash storage when they introduced the iPod Nano, but will say the Mini was special in its own right. Battery replacement is super easy, and you can even massively upgrade storage with a cheap compact flash card.
I differently was an iPod fan boy and wanted every iPod when they came out, excluding the classic and the touch. I do own a touch and want to get a classic.
At my local idaho youth ranch there was a box of phones and other pda's. There was an ipod mini wich was 3.99, an ipod touch wich was 4.99, an ipod nano wich was 2.99 and an iphone 4 s for 7.99!
keep it original unless the case is in bad condition IF you happen to be experienced in taking things apart and painting then do it you'd have a unique ipod and I think it'd look great in shiny red
@@ethand4784 I've had mine apart so many times seems like when i want a working ipod a part fails and I'll put a new one in and another part will quit haha
Do you know how much a pepsi limited edition Ipod mini would be worth? I can't find much about it online and I was wondering what I could sell a pre-owned one for? with the original box too.
The thing that was so special about those is the supreme user experience. While apple today still has better UX than competitors it is not as outstanding any more. This is pretty sad in my opinion.
Woe betide this fateful day, my iPod mini has finally met its demise (sort of, I’m just being dramatic). I have a Lime Green 2nd Generation that has been my faithful music companion for years, but as time has gone on and it seen continued use and abuse, its battery is finally toast. At roughly fifteen years old, it’s a pretty impressive lifespan for a mobile device that’s been in constant use. Now it’s time for a new battery and perhaps a CF or SD upgrade to improve performance, battery life, and capacity over the aging 4 GB HDD. Honestly, it’s one of the best little devices I’ve owned. It’s stylish and practical, and I love it!

pink
how else can she "thank" him? ;);)
Back when hundreds of songs in your pocket was crazy futuristic.
Now I get mad when I have to watch a movie below 1080p while on the bus.
Expectations eh. People don't realise how fortunate we are.

nerdyneedsalife ok probably a type of Nano then either 4th or 3rd gen thanks

this little guy used to store all of my rock music. solid as a rock and very reliable - lost it when i forgot my bag in the train
Great video. The iPod nano was responsible for creating my Apple obsession. Cant believe it’s been so long!
but this video is about the iPod mini, not the nano...

I have a first generation iPod mini in really good condition almost mint condition how much would that be worth
Hey Stephen. Great retrospective as usual. What's the name of the backpack hook in the background? I've been looking for something just like that :)
The Tornado J-Hook. Picked mine up at Home Depot.
What knife is that ?

The sad thing is that after this vid, he's probably going to throw all those iPods in some random drawer and never use them again.
That's usually how it goes. videos are produced by purchasing the items necessary, recorded, and then placed back in seclusion.
mini"s still usable today. just grap a cf card or cf adaptor and upgrade storage to 64 gb even more !
Keep up the vids! Love it. Thanks for the hard work

TibiviL it has to be the battery. These iPods don‘t have a hard drive, they‘re flash-based
