Humans are rapidly developing technologies that will probably destroy not only our species but most living things on the planet. AI is just one of those things that has potential for good and also for terrible harm. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, so it remains to be seen how this will all play out in the coming years. All I can say is that I'm very thankful I never had kids. I can easily imagine that by 2074 all the humans still alive on the planet will be slaves to their vastly more intelligent AI robot overlords.
We need to turn back. NOW. Not kidding, not being sarcastic. We need to do a 180 right now, this year, this month, this week, this day, this hour, this minute and this SECOND. WE NEED TO TURN BACK NOW.
Yes. However that's not going to happen. So worrying about it doesn't make a difference. I do think most people will be better off in the EU for a little while at least due to regulations also regarding AI. AI will impact the whole world eventually, but I do think it will happen slower in the EU and also less technologically advanced societies.
In the same way streaming services and access to information seems to "numb" us to a certain degree. (who buys a whole album and are forced to listen to the complete record? -Why I love vinyl) AI will do the same with much of the quality of content produced. Music produced today is does not hold the "human quality" standard as before, as tools and algrithms lowers the bar. (imo) And it (AI) will do the same for a wery broad specter of things.. Next generations of voice synthesizers will blow the current ones out of the water. Same goes for video, text and so on.. This issue will intensify, unlike any other technology we have ever seen...
One thing Im not worried about AI taking over is the entertainment industry... The "entertainment" we have today is killing ALL of our creativeness.. Tv has just been duming us down.. if you want entertainment, create it!!! Dont depend on an industry of narcissists or AI, to entertain you..
My chief concern with AI outside of the obvious deluge of trash the internet has become as a result of it is that AI is coming for the beginners. It's coming for the intermediates. AI isn't replacing the nancy cartwrights or the bear mccrearys or the (insert top tier talent in your niche). But it is going to replace the people still learning and developing their craft. So when our current cohort of experts reitres/dies, what happens to the craft? How do you get to that expert level if all the opportunities to learn and develop your skills are gobbled up by AI? Can an economy survive if only the best of the best are good enough to even have a job?
Yea I feel the same way, about A.I. it will continue to be misused in my opinion, I actually had someone ask me to prove I was real, lol I thought they were joking, guess not.
Hundreds of thousands of people are doing business in nefarious ways and have been doing so since the beginning of time. AI is just a tool... that people (the people you want to band together to stop AI) created. I don't like all the RUclips videos that are using AI voices, and I will usually not watch them, so their loss. There are still plenty of people who will want genuine voice recordings, so I think you're safe for a while yet.
If you think about ai as if it was video game consoles. Right now we are at atari level ai. The way ai I works and evolves faster than anything we could possibly imagine. We will be at ps5 level ai in a few years. Whatever tells ai has now, I don't believe those will exist within a couple of years
Hey. I hear you. I know it's scary and the future seems uncertain. There may be some tough challenges ahead, but everything is going to be okay. Keep doing what you do, stay honest, hold on to your integrity. You're going to find a way forward, even if the world doesn't seem so familiar.
AI is just the new NFT. Its a big nothing burger of a marketing term for most companies. Hopefully it makes voice assistants actually useful, but that will probably be the extent of the major inpact on most people.
Good morning Wayne. I’m now on your most popular! Makes so much sense you do voice overs because you have a great voice. When I’m on YT and click on a video that seems interesting and it’s a robotic voice it makes me angry and I click off. I know the AI voices are getting better, which is scary to me. I want to write and illustrate a children’s book one day and (I) want to do this and I know that AI writes stories now it breaks my heart. I have the same opinion as you. I’m a creative and that’s not creative.
I hate when people try to describe AI as "democratization" of arts. It's a lie meant to make generative AI look like an ultimately good thing. The arts have always been "democratized". Everyone can choose to learn whatever arts they want. AI isn't democratization, it's the taking of other's efforts and giving nothing back to them.
It's going to be the marketplace of clicks that decides this. If ai produces entertaining content consistently, it will get the clicks. You have to hope authenticity is what people prefer to consume.
As a musician, I'm all for ai assistance though. What I mean by that is that there are alot of parts of making music that I have little interest in and it takes time and energy which can be a burden on the completion of the song. Because the long I work on a song the more perspective I lose as the original emotion the song is based on gets diluted. So where I'd love for AI to come in is for it to be used in music production software (DAWS) where I can just easily have the drums in a song processed for me or the guitar and vocals processed for me without having to spend a significant amount of time on that and rather spend the time on the big decisions, like the composition of the song and the emotion of the song. Musicians tend to hate AI, but i am in a space where i am not be making money from music so I don't have anything to lose by people making AI music. Because I make music because I love doing it. But if people stop supporting humans at one point well that would suck but we can't stop it and I don't think musicians should try stop it, but rather go with the flow of the situation and see how they can make it work for them. My "scariest" projection of the future in terms of AI and music making is that we reach a point where music streaming services generate music for you based off of a musician that you like. So you can listen to a fresh new song whenever you want. We are already in this dopamine crazed reality at the moment and I don't see why it won't happen with music unfortunately. Sorry for my depressing outlook. But if u stop making music because of AI, maybe you are making music for the wrong reasons.
Part of the reason we make art in the first place is to share with others in our "tribe" (society). Everyone wants to feel seen and appreciated, to contribute, to express themselves. A major problem with overly automating these things with AI is you start to lose the journey of making your art that is what makes it uniquely YOUR art. The more AI is involved, the more it is simply a blending of everyone's art, instead of something that's a result of your own experiences, feelings, skills and shortcomings. Automating some tedious things, IF they don't have any real impact on how the end result would turn out is probably fine, but it's a slippery slope you have to be very careful with, or our art loses all meaning. I also want to shoutout that oddly, I see so many musicians embracing AI, just not for music. They'll make AI generated music videos and thumbnails, and I'm just sitting there baffled how a musical artist can be so blind to the disrespect they're giving to visual artists. They want respect for their music, but don't give that same respect back to others...
Yep, when I see a faceless channel, I cannot X out of that fast enough and then mark as don't recommend. In SWE, there was an initial hype with AI because it was novel, but after that wore off, the reality is that whatever the big companies are doing (layoffs) with the expectation that AI will replace developers is just not happening. AI writes bad code and makes developers stupider. If it were to do anything, the disruption will come very slowly in maybe 10 years. And then there's the problem of the AI being trained on data, once it gets to the point where it is trained on ai generated data, then what? The quality and creativity will be on a downwards trajectory.
Dumb. AI makes creation faster, learning faster and more optimized, lets you iterate way more. All of human history is trying to alleviate the burden of living day to day and improve our lives - Vaccines, vehicles for long range transport, communication over ranges, information sharing, automation, factories. All these things remove the toil and labor and huge amounts of time it took to get things done. Why would that EVER change now? AI is the natural culmination of all that work and knowledge. We should be planning for a society where work isn't the center of our existence anymore. Planning for everyone to have a decent sized living area, healthcare for all, and a life where the individual chooses what they want to pursue, does what they're capable of.
It's embarrassing to call something "dumb" when you've entirely missed the point. This discussion is within the context of AI in the creative fields, not AI as a whole. Whenever you see discussions online about how much people dislike AI, they're talking about it in terms of CONTENT and BOTS. Almost nobody is against AI being developed to take care of physical labor and other mundane work that people don't actually want to do so that we can live more comfortably. And especially for improving healthcare. What you're missing is how core the arts are to the human existence. Even if money was no longer an issue in life, we would still have this stance on AI in the creative fields, because it's antithetical to the core purpose of art and our connection to it as part of the human experience. It's supposed to be a unique expression of each person's lived experiences, the journey and effort that went into the creation being just as important if not more important than the final results. But people who love AI only seem to see art as a means to content production, as only the final result mattering. They see nothing wrong with cramming hundreds of thousands if not millions of people's creative output into a machine to create soulless derivatives from at the click of a button. They see the attention artists get, and think it's because of just the resulting art, thinking all they have to do is click that button and they'll get the same adoration for "making" similar quality art, not understanding they've lost the most important part we appreciate about art, which is the time, effort and love the person puts into it, the understanding that it's something created based on that person's unique lived experience, not an aimless mashing of the world's creative works for no real reason other than personal greed/envy.
@@invertexyz I think you're just trying to gatekeep art. Art is about expression, about conveying an emotion or message, or making people think, or just making something beautiful or pleasant to look at. AI removes the manual labor you say you're fine getting rid of earlier, but for some reason with Art that's not cool? A lot of people are very creative but just not artistically skilled mechanically. I've seen lots of interesting AI works from non artists that I thought were pretty cool, things that I never saw traditional artists think of. Most consumers of art put no thought into the person or labor from the art they just consume it and move on. Yeah a lot of time and labor goes into art, but so do a lot of industries AI is taking over. Art isn't the exception to that. I get the moral argument that its trained off someone elses work, but the genie is out of the bottle now. The effort has been abstracted out, like it does anytime a new invention replaces old. In a few more years you won't be able to tell, hell if its done right you can't tell now. It'll be strictly about bringing your imagination to life, and sharing that with others. The core of art still will be around, just way more accessible and less time consuming for all. I like that and you should too.
@@thepunisherxxx6804 AI isn't "removing the manual labor", it's removing the artistic process entirely. If you think the act of making the art is just labor, then you aren't actually interested in art, you're interested in making a product for views. Literally everyone can learn to make art, nobody is "gatekeeping" it. What you're really saying is "I don't actually like to make art, I just want the quickest way to get praise, even if it's undeserved". One of the main reasons we even value art in the first place is because we recognize the time and effort a person puts into it, we recognize it's a result of that person's lived experience, emotions and methodology. You lose all of that when you rely on generative AI to make an image for you, it's not longer "your art", it's a mish-mashing of those previously described things from all the artists it took from. If you actually had a real connection to art, you would understand the journey is the most important part in how a piece gets made, not the end result. It is categorically different than meaningless physical labor like cleaning a toilet or harvesting a food over and over. Art is it's own unique thing that is vital to the human experience, and supporting the use of these "tools" goes against that, and harms society in the long term as a result. Just because the "genie is out of the bottle" is not an excuse to just give up. Nuclear weapons are "out of the bottle" too, does that mean we should just go around nuking enemies? No, we've stigmatized the usage of nuclear weapons, just like many things in society that people can technically do, but don't because they understand society looks down on those actions. We can do the same for generative AI, coming together as a society to stigmatize its usage. It's already been happening.

You completely missed so much about this video and the deeper narrative being talked about here. It's already having an effect on the arts that is only getting worse. And the ethical and societal impacts of it are legitimate and worrying.
Removing humans from the equation only serves the 1%

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, this was really powerful to listen to. I got an ad for Wix's AI powered websites as soon as your video ended. I'm so sick of hearing about AI. I personally prefer human content, "flaws" and all. I don't like when creators cut away to stock footage. It seems so pointless and inauthentic.

I didn't realise that things have gotten this bad. Musicians and singers are probably doing this too.
That sigh says it all. 😢
That industry has destroyed natural creativity, curiosity of people and has introduced AI.
I’m a creative and that’s not creative.
little slices of AI to help with specific processes could be handy, but democratisation is the end of specialisation.,,.,
I hate when people try to describe AI as "democratization" of arts. It's a lie meant to make generative AI look like an ultimately good thing.
The arts have always been "democratized". Everyone can choose to learn whatever arts they want. AI isn't democratization, it's the taking of other's efforts and giving nothing back to them.
Hate to say it but if enough people watch this video, you've given them a really immoral idea on how to make money using AI
I think this video provides a change for people to be more educated and informed. It reminds people to question what they see, everytime.
It's going to be the marketplace of clicks that decides this. If ai produces entertaining content consistently, it will get the clicks. You have to hope authenticity is what people prefer to consume.
Unless it expressly for advancing robotics AI, because of the grift of how it’s made should be made illegal.
@invertexyz yes that's a very fair point
@@thepunisherxxx6804
AI isn't "removing the manual labor", it's removing the artistic process entirely.
I got sucked in to a subscription w free trial. Then couldnt cancell it. So im using it sometimes. The stuff i been using sounds like crap. And im not making money anyway. You are great organic personality and would hire ya if i could😅.🎉Thank You
Really enjoy the whole aesthetic of your videos.
I use AI voices for my animated characters on my RUclips show which is a daily show styled show that deep dives into a topic. I find it useful, but I would never pretend that these voices are not AI. And I also use a cloner, so I can sometimes get a human sound with AI voices.
lol no combating it man its a fing art not a job real artists do it for the love not the $
iPhone can't even autocorrect properly and you think AI is going to crush humanity?
not yet
You completely missed so much about this video and the deeper narrative being talked about here. It's already having an effect on the arts that is only getting worse. And the ethical and societal impacts of it are legitimate and worrying.
i'm on the other channel, and youtube recommended this one in my feed.. Subbed
if you cant hear the difference from a real human and AI, the creative field is not for you, ypu wish you was a creative but you aint my dude
Interesting thoughts. Thanks!
