    They’re called adventure bikes cause it’s an adventure every time you go out. You find new roads, short cuts and ways around traffic jams. Good job Jordan.

    Re: water crossings... The center and the shoulder will always be the softest. Step in the middle of the tire track. It'll probably be deeper there, but it's likely firmer. Still might be slick, though, but you do have full on knobbies. Unless you can tell the shoulder or center track are firm, it's usually a bad idea to ride on them.

    14:05 if you like NH, you’d love WNC! Not a ton of lakes, but it seems most roads have rivers and streams running alongside….

    THIS. This is what I'm talking about. Your bike is VERY capable and confidence inspiring. Have a great time testing your limits and the bikes limits. I predict you'll hold o to this bike for a long time. If you do sell it, it'll be one of those bikes you'll miss deeply. I would have tried that puddle but I didn't know that you had plans for later in the day as you explained towards the end. I think you should bring Jess on this route in the RE and tell her to be prepared for a little mud. ❤ it.

    That bike is more than capable of crossing that first washout. I would have blasted through it. One day you will feel comfortable enough with the bike to try it. I wish I still hand mine and was able to still ride but with my knees and back I am not able to ride anymore.

    Great video. You will get the hang of it. Gravel can be intimidating. Just remember the fear of crashing can some times be worse than the crash when it comes to off roading.

    If you have a gravel parking lot, or other big, gravely, surface use that o practice turns and low speed manoeuvres.

    Let me start by saying I’ve been watching both you and Jess from the infancy of both your channels. Im speaking from the heart here as someone with decades of off road experience on 2 wheels. I love the off road content. I love the DR650, it’s literally the perfect bike for you right now. That bike is more than capable of tackling everything you could imagine up to and including technical single track. You are the weakest link, and you’ll never get the confidence, knowledge and experience that you need to do the dual sport and adventure rides you want to do by continuing on the same path you are now. You need to take a class, you need to ride with experienced riders that can you show you local trails, help you with proper technique’s required to tackle the obstacles in front of you, help pick the bike up when you crash (because you will, it’s part of learning). Riding by yourself, and exploring by yourself at your experience level is not only dangerous but it’s detrimental to your progression as a rider. Taking a class “some day” is not the right answer if you want to continue learning and growing as an off road rider. You needed it yesterday. I’ve been watching you and Jess turn around at the same water obstacle 3 or 4 times now. Please find a group of people in the off road community local to you that can be your mentors, look into taking an off road class as soon as possible. It will transform your riding and change your life. The off road motorcycle community is the best group of people you will ever meet, at least in my experience. There’s nothing else like it in my opinion. Both the community and the riding, and you both deserve to reap the benefits of it.

      Great advice. I've been annoying ( really annoying) Jess with the same sentiment. Sorry Jess but I'm both excited for you and wanting both Jess and Jordan to build their confidence, experience with their rider limits and the bike limits, all while having fun. A class, with the right bike would be great. As I also love the content, I also love a good crossover with certain RUclips channels. Jordan mentions going out west and I recommended to Jess contacting someone like Ian on Big Rock Moto for a class or even just a variety of different terrain.

    Sounds like you picked the perfect all round bike for you. Sounds like it is great on the highway as well as the dirt trails, plus will fit perfectly in the toy hauler too being not too heavy. Enjoy.

    Man, that bike is for you! That bike beats the hell out of the Sportster for off-road.
    It sounds like it's running smooth as silk too.
    But, you GOTTA get a collapsable fishing pole to take with you to some of those off-the-beaten-path spots!
    This was a very good video, Jordan.
    Thanks, Eric in Kissimmee.

    11:01 kinda like most things, the more you experience the “loose” front, the more comfortable you’ll get. Same with all of the off pavement stuff, for me, finding someone to go with, that has more confidence than I do, has made a huge difference in my confidence. (I purposely don’t use the word skill)

    I never had the 650 but I did have the DR600 Dakar. About the only things I did to it was Fox shock and a Kingston pipe. That was back in 88 so I really doubt they still make them for your 650. Have fun and remember mud plugin is half the fun. Cleaning the crap after isn't.

  • @Pinnacle89
    @Pinnacle89 Год назад +1

    I wouldn’t worry about the edges when you cross puddles. That’s what throws your wheel. Center probably has less mud as well being washed out by past traffic. If you haven’t gotten case protectors for the DR yet, probably a good idea to keep your brake/clutch levers from putting you out of commission in the middle of nowhere when you drop it.
