Carotid sinus Massage it’s also good and it helps me when I measure 134 But now I like the breathing too. I went to a new doctor and she told me my blood pressure is to high 145/84 hm. Well I am thankful she made me notice it. I did not agree to meds only if really needed. So I measured my BP every day and funny at home it is 124/ 78 but it does gets up 135/ At the doctor 154 😮 garlic helps me 114/ 74/76 yeah. I do watch it and working on changing my live style. This is amazing at 4:37 am last nite my pressure was 154/93/75. I did these techniques, by 4:51 my pressure was 129/82/75...By 6:20am it was 115/74/74. The valsalva technique also made me evacuate better when I went to the bathroom . I only did the first 3, not the head in ice bucket. Thank you soooooo much
I was diagnosed with WPW Wolf Parkinson’s White... Arrhythmia 20 years ago. I had an ablation in 2003 and I still do these procedures whenever I feel my heart rate go up and they work. I promise they really work. God bless Dr. Madel and you all. .

After a couple of panic attacks a few years ago, I learned to do this kind of breathing and it works every time! I worked as an R.N. for several years at our state mental hospital and I had a close friend who was a behavioral psychologist. He had the equipment in his office that he tested patients with. I tried it one day and with the breathing, visually saw on the screen, my b/p and pulse decrease, so I know it works. When I would feel like an episode was starting, I would immediately do the breathing and it stops it in it's tracks! Thanks!

Hi. Question please. My mum's BP has been very high, 215 /71. 190/65 etc. Only with medication have we got it down to 180/ 65 etc. Do you definitely recommend this excercise? Our family is not “rich” but we are all entrepreneurs so we do ok for ourselves INCLUDING my mom. So I was able to buy a house for her to live in and I paid all the utilities. I felt so proud to be able to do that for her now that she just had turned 80, also being able to provide for basically two households. Well 4 years in she wants to move, keep in mind that she owns 4 others homes in the area, so she didn’t listen to me and left. I was so aggravated that I left the property empty for almost 1 years thinking she would move back. She didn’t so I told her to sell it and I felt the right thing to do is send me the money since I had put it under her name to LIVE IN. Well after grudgingly sending me the funds from the sale minus 10k I told her to keep she then turned her attention to one of my favorite rental property. Insisting to buy it from me at almost 100k below value. My mother has literally been my best friends my entire life and she had NEVER done anything like this before. But then I started looking back and noticed how she has manipulated me my entire life. So to answer your question on my HR now is back to normal. But it came with the price of losing my mother. I have completely removed her from my life and now I’m at peace. It’s so sad for me but I can’t let ANYONE make me feel in such a way that it affects my health. Thanks again
A life saver! My heart rate was up(BP was normal) 102 due to some pain meds I had to take. I did just two(no head in bucket) and it went down in less than 10 min- when I checked it again it was 88!! 💖Thank you Doctor!

Breathing exercises are nothing but the Truth. I have racing heart sometimes during the night when I wake up in the middle of the night when I drink alcohol with dinner. I make sure I drink water as well. However, I still have racing heart but some early mornings are better than others. Whenever I wake up through the night and have a hard time getting back to sleep instead of taking a muscle relaxer, I do Breathing exercises...a lot of times works like a charm and also slows down my heart rate. Holy shit I did the neck massuage and it took me from 106 down to 78! I suffer from bad anxiety and this worked better than anything I've tried in the past
I get a lot of anxiety/stress, sometimes for no reason and although my blood pressure is always within normal limits, my heart rate raises. The breathing technique has always worked for me, and very fast, within 10 mins I feel more relax and my heart rate goes down, literally back to normal, its amazing!

Yes you are so right , I'm watching the video and while watching I was doing the exercises as you demonstrate then after I checked my BP and to my surprise it was lower. Before I did this exercise my BP was 144/94 and after its 139/87. Thanks so much Dr Mandell.
thanks doc , it is amazing my heart rate is high between 90 to 107 with normal blood pressure, even when sitting down its high so i tried the massage technic with deep breathing it went from 101 to 86 in a minute.
So grateful for Dr. mandel and videos like this. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night after I’ve had a couple drinks and eaten and my heart rate and blood pressure will be up and racing. Not sure what the coronation of alcohol and food is to triggering my heart and blood pressure especially since I don’t drink or eat that much but when it happens and my anxiety goes up, videos like this really help.
you probably have histamine intolerance as alcohol is a huge trigger and racing heart is a common problem. A lot of "healthy" foods are also, like tomato, spinach, avocado, and aged/fermented like yogurt, sauerkraut, blue cheese. Google MCAS, histamine intolerance, and the SIGHI food list. Check out the facebook support group "Histamine Intolerance". Hope this helps.

I suffered from bout of racing heart and insomnia and anxiety for over 30 years...tried so many different medicines...then solved it all by addressing histamines, which no doctor ever mentioned. Always first be checked by your doctor and then you can use some of the following exercises and little tricks to lower your stress and make a shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic : Aerobic exercise, positive mental attitude, relaxing, breathing technique : sitting up breath in, hold, breathe out through the mouth calming your body in 5-8 seconds, pulse and blood pressure come down. Or you may use some of the following little exercises: Valsalva maneuver - stimulating the vagus nerve. Carotid sinus massage 5-10 sec very lightly - this is also slowing down the heart rate and the blood pressure - The dive reflex - put the face under cold water - and eat primarily a low fat whole food plant based diet
I did three of the exercises and my BP didn’t come down at all! I had been sitting in a chair, feet on the floor breathing calming for at least 30 minutes, added your breathing exercise and checked my pressure and it was exactly the same!

I start at mornings BP 160-180 .Just by going out in the garden, pottering about attending to the essential things. After an hour get back to taking another reading. Doing all the routine advised method of taking the reading. Tell my mind, get under 150 , just think it. Repeat it till you are convincing yourself it will happen. Take a reading 150 or near it, do another 5 minutes later same routine140 print it in behind closed eyes. Reading 140 there about. Proof it is you who is in control of your body, by your requests. Or for the Biblical way, believe, “Ask and thou shall be given”. It has that proviso, you must believe in your body taking instructions from you. As it can instruct you with signals you can do the reverse. DNA obeys us. If we believe. It won’t work other wise, could say it’s like a prayer, but must be genuine thought. Plus, no one but you knows you are doing it, so nothing to lose, or be embarrassed about.

I was taught this breathing technique through the Martial Arts, years ago. It was truly advantagous in calming down after a workout, which was good for the heart, and blood- flow oxygenation.
When I was in my twenties I had tachycardia. My doctor talked about this valsalva maneuver to me and its done me alot of good. Thanks for the reminder. ❤
Excellent presentation, as always, by Dr.Mandell !!!!! I was a paramedic instructor for many years and have reconized my symptoms of higher than normal BP as a hot and mildly stimulating sensation in my face/'jowls'. I have a normally bradicardic (low) pulse rate. I caution that aggressive performance of these breathing etc. exercises may at times lower the pulse rate down into the 'danger zone' ... low 40s and even high 30s if you over-do these exercises. So be aware and always monitor your pulse rate while doing these (wonderful) exercises to 'control' pulse rate and BP.
Thank you for pointing out this. I have what they call essential BP. They blame it on age; but my heart rate has always been low. Two months ago, I went to the clinic bcuz of a stubborn cold, and they called an ambulance after they checked my heart rate. It was 36. I suppose I shouldn't do these exercises to lower BP bcuz of the low heart rate.
I love this. Breathing exercises literally saved my life when I had severe anxiety/stress. I still utilize it. I have been Dx'd with Afib w/ RVR & I have vaso vagal syncope. I have the syncope under control as long as I stay hydrated. When I go into afib, I cough really really hard and bear down. It works almost always. Thank you for your videos. They are priceless. Its amazing how everything is connected.
I have had slightly high blood pressure sometimes more than slightly high, for years. I started listening to this channel and taking the advice of the doctor. For the first time, about a month there after, my blood pressure was normal. Previously my doctor had given me medication for high blood pressure, a diuretic. He told me it had no side effects. Baloney. It did. I quit taking it. Natural things are always better when possible.

I’m 69 years old my blood pressure was 217 over 111 after doing theses for 20 minutes my pressure now is 120 over 79 pulse 58 . This man is god sent!

I tried the breathing method, inhale, hold, exhale. After few minutes, I tested my blood pressure. It went down from 140 to 124. Unbelievable!!
I do that every morning before I take my pressure otherwise it’s too high. Lol

Our family is not “rich” but we are all entrepreneurs so we do ok for ourselves INCLUDING my mom. So I was able to buy a house for her to live in and I paid all the utilities. I felt so proud to be able to do that for her now that she just had turned 80, also being able to provide for basically two households. Well 4 years in she wants to move, keep in mind that she owns 4 others homes in the area, so she didn’t listen to me and left. I was so aggravated that I left the property empty for almost 1 years thinking she would move back. She didn’t so I told her to sell it and I felt the right thing to do is send me the money since I had put it under her name to LIVE IN.
Well after grudgingly sending me the funds from the sale minus 10k I told her to keep she then turned her attention to one of my favorite rental property. Insisting to buy it from me at almost 100k below value.
My mother has literally been my best friends my entire life and she had NEVER done anything like this before. But then I started looking back and noticed how she has manipulated me my entire life. So to answer your question on my HR now is back to normal. But it came with the price of losing my mother. I have completely removed her from my life and now I’m at peace. It’s so sad for me but I can’t let ANYONE make me feel in such a way that it affects my health.

A life saver! My heart rate was up(BP was normal) 102 due to some pain meds I had to take. I did just two(no head in bucket) and it went down in less than 10 min- when I checked it again it was 88!! 💖Thank you Doctor!

Breathing exercises are nothing but the Truth. I have racing heart sometimes during the night when I wake up in the middle of the night when I drink alcohol with dinner. I make sure I drink water as well. However, I still have racing heart but some early mornings are better than others. Whenever I wake up through the night and have a hard time getting back to sleep instead of taking a muscle relaxer, I do Breathing exercises...a lot of times works like a charm and also slows down my heart rate. Holy shit I did the neck massuage and it took me from 106 down to 78! I suffer from bad anxiety and this worked better than anything I've tried in the past
I get a lot of anxiety/stress, sometimes for no reason and although my blood pressure is always within normal limits, my heart rate raises. The breathing technique has always worked for me, and very fast, within 10 mins I feel more relax and my heart rate goes down, literally back to normal, its amazing!

Yes you are so right , I'm watching the video and while watching I was doing the exercises as you demonstrate then after I checked my BP and to my surprise it was lower. Before I did this exercise my BP was 144/94 and after its 139/87. Thanks so much Dr Mandell.

thanks doc , it is amazing my heart rate is high between 90 to 107 with normal blood pressure, even when sitting down its high so i tried the massage technic with deep breathing it went from 101 to 86 in a minute.
So grateful for Dr. mandel and videos like this. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night after I’ve had a couple drinks and eaten and my heart rate and blood pressure will be up and racing. Not sure what the coronation of alcohol and food is to triggering my heart and blood pressure especially since I don’t drink or eat that much but when it happens and my anxiety goes up, videos like this really help.
you probably have histamine intolerance as alcohol is a huge trigger and racing heart is a common problem. A lot of "healthy" foods are also, like tomato, spinach, avocado, and aged/fermented like yogurt, sauerkraut, blue cheese. Google MCAS, histamine intolerance, and the SIGHI food list. Check out the facebook support group "Histamine Intolerance". Hope this helps.

Always first be checked by your doctor and then you can use some of the following exercises and little tricks to lower your stress and make a shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic :
Aerobic exercise, positive mental attitude, relaxing, breathing technique : sitting up breath in, hold, breathe out through the mouth calming your body in 5-8 seconds, pulse and blood pressure come down. Or you may use some of the following little exercises: Valsalva maneuver - stimulating the vagus nerve. Carotid sinus massage 5-10 sec very lightly - this is also slowing down the heart rate and the blood pressure - The dive reflex - put the face under cold water - and eat primarily a low fat whole food plant based diet
Just had right Atrium Ablation for a fast heart rate. This video has helped me manage keep my heart rate down. God bless you.
I did three of the exercises and my BP didn’t come down at all! I had been sitting in a chair, feet on the floor breathing calming for at least 30 minutes, added your breathing exercise and checked my pressure and it was exactly the same!

I start at mornings BP 160-180 .Just by going out in the garden, pottering about attending to the essential things. After an hour get back to taking another reading. Doing all the routine advised method of taking the reading. Tell my mind, get under 150 , just think it. Repeat it till you are convincing yourself it will happen. Take a reading 150 or near it, do another 5 minutes later same routine140 print it in behind closed eyes. Reading 140 there about. Proof it is you who is in control of your body, by your requests. Or for the Biblical way, believe, “Ask and thou shall be given”. It has that proviso, you must believe in your body taking instructions from you. As it can instruct you with signals you can do the reverse. DNA obeys us. If we believe.
It won’t work other wise, could say it’s like a prayer, but must be genuine thought. Plus, no one but you knows you are doing it, so nothing to lose, or be embarrassed about.

Arts, years ago. It was truly advantagous in calming down
after a workout, which was good for the heart, and blood-
flow oxygenation.
When I was in my twenties I had tachycardia. My doctor talked about this valsalva maneuver to me and its done me alot of good. Thanks for the reminder. ❤

I was a paramedic instructor for many years and have reconized my symptoms of higher than normal BP as a hot and mildly stimulating sensation in my face/'jowls'. I have a normally bradicardic (low) pulse rate. I caution that aggressive performance of these breathing etc. exercises may at times lower the pulse rate down into the 'danger zone' ... low 40s and even high 30s if you over-do these exercises. So be aware and always monitor your pulse rate while doing these (wonderful) exercises to 'control' pulse rate and BP.
Thank you for pointing out this. I have what they call essential BP. They blame it on age; but my heart rate has always been low. Two months ago, I went to the clinic bcuz of a stubborn cold, and they called an ambulance after they checked my heart rate. It was 36. I suppose I shouldn't do these exercises to lower BP bcuz of the low heart rate.

I have been Dx'd with Afib w/ RVR & I have vaso vagal syncope. I have the syncope under control as long as I stay hydrated. When I go into afib, I cough really really hard and bear down. It works almost always.

I have had slightly high blood pressure sometimes more than slightly high, for years. I started listening to this channel and taking the advice of the doctor. For the first time, about a month there after, my blood pressure was normal.
Previously my doctor had given me medication for high blood pressure, a diuretic. He told me it had no side effects. Baloney. It did. I quit taking it. Natural things are always better when possible.
