Yep..Gibson SG no matter the year gives you magic slide tones..just ask Mick Taylor…wonderful playing Matt ..during my day my lead guitarist ( Johnny Russell used a heavily modded Tele with neck position humbucker pup ( rosewood neck )..mostly tuned to open A …did the job…and the other fantastic slide player during that period was Band Of Light guitarist Norm Roue who used a ‘63 Gibson SG Custom 👍☝️

Sounds great. My biggest regret was selling my dream reverb head. Had a clear plexiglass front . I had it converted to kt66 and wow did it open up

Great playing as always! I play slide on myES335, but would love to own a SG.

Certainly an Sg is ideal- the only reason Im not sure its the best for slide is it sonically it can get alot of variety so tuning it open and setting the action higher ( my go to's for slide) might limit some of the tonal variety- for my liking anyway- so I use a Danelectro nos 59 dc ( I love the lipstick pickup sound)
An LP with p-90s would also be an interesting choice.
Just my take currently- it could change.

Thanks for the comment. The Danelectro is a fantastic choice too, there is a certain magic to the lipstick pickup for slide.

My strat sounds good but I think a flatter fretboard would be easier.

Yeah, Strats are great too. Good enough for Ry, Lowell, Bonnie etc...
