  • In our culture, the moon comes after the fleeting moment of Sanjhi or Saanjh to be the loud and awe-inspiring announcements of nightfall. Urdu poet Ibne-Insha quite graciously documents this handing over of the charge to the moon.
    ham sāñjh samay kī chhāyā haiñ tum charhtī raat ke chandramāñ
    ham jaate haiñ tum aate ho phir mel kī sūrat kyūñkar ho
    In fact, Insha was so inspired by the moon that not only is the celestial body metaphorised in various different ways but Insha ended up writing a whole book inspired by his romance with the moon, titled Chaand-Nagar (The Moon town or Lunar city)

    My grandma used to say if a girl gets pregnant in early phase of moon the child would be boy and vice versa😶idk
