Oh girl! Amazing video today! I feel like I just listened to the younger me. I’m 61 and have been a shopper my whole adult life. It’s such an addiction. About a year ago, I finally realized what a mess I made of my financial life. I sold the rest of my designer bags, there were only a few left. Since then, at my age I finally realize that nobody cares what I carry or look like. I’m finally at the point of wanting to carry a 200.00 Coach bag with money in my wallet. The quality is so much better in most less expensive bags. If my Coach bag had another c on it, it would cost over 5k. I’m glad they keep raising the prices, because I am just not going to spend that amount of money so I can be a target out there. I’m in Toledo and things are not good. I’m currently loving my Vera Bradley black nylon bag with a slg’s from LV & Chanel. Nobody can see them, but they make me happy when I use them. Just be glad you are learning this at a young age, so you can still save for retirement. Keep up the great videos! ❤😊

My favorite *gtdupe* shopping item is the sweet and clean caramel tote bag. It is a must-have for me to take to work and the hospital. It can hold my laptop, notes, and water bottle - a must to stay hydrated and melanin. Thank you for sharing these goodies with us!

Influencer marketing changed the game. This is what executives are talking about in board rooms. People with paradoxical relationships to influencers will trust and buy a product more than some random person or celebrity. They get the products for free or get paid a lot in their eyes but it’s way less of a marketing spend by the organization and they are laughing to the bank with their profits!

Finally a RUclipsr that is transparent about this. I’m a spender and not a saver as well. Everything you said was spot on and I can relate 1000000%. I’m so so glad you made this video. Social media is so bad for someone with a shopping addiction. I’m in the process of selling a lot of my luxury handbags. I’m going to curate my collection down to 5 bags and be at peace. I have to for my wallet and my financial future. I am going to unfollow a chunk of influencers like you said. It gets way to overwhelming. I bought my YSL large college bag because of you. I love that bag and it will permanently stay in my collection. Did you sell yours or keep it?

I have no words. This video should be seen by EVER SINGLE PERSON who watches you tube! Your honesty and growth is exactly what I have just gone through! I stopped following so many people. I choose to watch more feel good videos like makeup, cooking, cleaning, organization, self help ect. The silent brag….or the NOT so silent brag….Jerusha! Companies send these items to people. I have millionaire family and they do not spend money like ANY of the you tubers. Never! What we see is all smoke and mirrors and made to make us feel less than. Online ordering is so easy and the waiting game makes us feel like we have something to do! It makes the item so much more worth while to us! We don’t need half the crap we buy. You are sheer genius for posting this. I wish you nothing but the best and I pray this video goes viral. You deserve it all! ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for being so honest and brave! 🥰

We are all constant consumers that's why a 'no buy' year will always end in failure. When we buy we also support the economy. We also should stop blaming socmed. Practicing moderation is a must just like growing up or adulting and if you end up splurge sometimes , forgive yourself. The altogether stopping cold turkey is not the fix we are looking. Flexing is also ok bec sometimes we do that, the thing is .. don't get pressured when somebody is flexing. It all boils down to your self-esteem. It's live and learn so we must learn to just admire( bec there's no way we'll go back to not having a phone in our hand 24/7) and just focus on your goal.

Your points were spot on, especially with the waiting for the package piece. I’ve noticed recently the same, that I’m way more “happy” and excited when I know a package is coming/when I can keep checking the tracking, then by time the item comes, the feeling wears off and I’m ready to find the next thing to go through that process with. Still trying to figure out how to break this!

I relate. I bought a pair of Prada sneakers $1070, yet to be worn and already I'm waiting for a pair of Ferragamo sneakers I ordered (on sale $402) in the mail. I have this thing for designer sneakers. I also bought a Bally card case (on sale $240), yet to be worn, only to now want a Prada card case for $460. Do I need more sneakers - NO? Do I need a another card cases - NO? I think the high is placing that order and knowing a package is arriving. I agree, once that package is opened, the excitement wears off. Back online I go to see what's new. Now, the difference between you and I is I do save. I allow a certain amount of my income on shopping. I deposit a high percentage of my income at a far away inconvenient-to-get-to bank and I don't ever touch that savings account - NEVER! I am better with shopping. In fact, I was at Nordstrom yesterday to pickup a package only to be told by an SA, "I haven't seen you in a while". (I mentioned prices of items only to show that I don't need to spend the retail prices and that I can find alternate brands I liken that offer the same quality on sale.) Also, do you return items you don't wear and need? When you realize the items you shop for are things you don't need, do you take them back? I do. Most of my habitual shopping is because of family issues I have. I have identified the problem and am progressively working on it. And this is what helped me avoid shopping frequently. (Edit/Added: Never have I been influenced by influencers or other people. My style is basic, but the items I choose to buy as far as fit, materials and quality is thought through).

I have noticed over the past year or so that you are really growing in wisdom and I am so proud of you. Recognition of a problem is the first step to being cured and it’s a very big step. Know that we are right behind you offering encouragement and support. Best wishes.

I’m so over accumulating the latest luxury trends as its so obvious not sustainable and doesn’t even make me happy. I have sold all my bags and kept only 5. Moving into a new direction of minimalism n quiet luxury owning less but More quality items only ❤

I used to be like that. It was the dopamine rush you get from novel things. I got into plants and gardening and I get that rush from seeing my plants pop a new leaf everyday. I spend a lot less money now.

A few months ago I started feeling overwhelmed by constant unboxing videos. Watching them was making me very anxious. I wasn’t enjoying them and it all felt so excessive. I realized constant viewing and shopping (even when I didn’t actually purchase) was feeding my compulsive tendencies. I unfollowed a lot of influencers and FB groups and I’m a whole lot calmer and don’t even miss what I gave up. I’m using my re-captured leisure time with activities I’ve always enjoyed like reading, movies, my dogs, gardening, etc.
Your last few videos definitely show us a calmer, more peaceful and mature Angelique so the changes you’re implementing are good for you. Take care of you ❤❤

Recently I have had enough with luxury bags. My second Saint Laurent bag has glazing issue. Really not worth the money. I am even afraid to use other banks now and turning towards upcoming cheaper brands from Korea

thank you for sharing, a lot of what you said really hits home. getting 'influenced' was a huge thing for me haha along with email marketing - i think one thing that really helped was unsubscribing from all the email newsletters with all the 'sales' announcements... the sale codes are constantly coming back or they can be looked up now so not really missing out 😀

I’m really loving your videos and how you discuss the not so luxury side of luxury. Ex. How selling a bag can be a headache, consumerism, and shopping addictions. You got me really reflecting on my luxury journey and habits. 🙏🏽❤️

Relatable. In my mind I’m a saver and I do put most of my income way but lately this year I know I’m already off track to reach my savings goals. There definitely is pressure now to get things before price increases or while the items are still in stock definitely pushed me to get things I might have waited to get. I always have a package coming it. At the same time while I feel like I have a lot of stuff, I don’t have cohesive outfits I can put together so I just wear the same things over and over again. A messs
