time 1988 came around the drug dealers in my neighborhood were millionaires they had suped up BMW'S and guns that were intimidating off site alone, shootouts and killings was a regular, just to give people an idea of how dangerous it was on Cypress Ave here's a couple names Boy George and Puerto Rican Pistol Pete those 2 alone were ruthless and it was a nightmare living in those conditions, waking up to a thud that shook the walls in my bedroom just to see a man thrown off the roof bleeding to death over Crack fortunately I called the ambulance and he survived, it was tough and still have a bearing on me till this day at 52 years old

I grew up in Jamaica Queens and everything changed in 1968. The suburbs turned in to a ghettos and there were drug addicts walking around day and night. I was terrfield for my safety until 1972 my mom passed away and me and my little brother moved away. I went back a year later and it was still the same.

Interesting point of view from someone who was raised in what was a notorious area of Queen's NYC at that time. I'm from the UK 🇬🇧. We did not see the same issues in the black communities over here until a little later but I can relate. Even as a kid we received excellent coverage about what was happening in New York. Seemed like a completely different world until the same things began to occur here in the UK 🇬🇧. Anyway thanks for posting and great comment.

Does the reporter know math. If in fact a drug healer is making $100,000 a year and gets busted for 5 - which means no selling during that point - then 100/5 = 20. That’s $20,000 a year. Which they might as well make earning an “honest” living.

And why out of towners and even the maker of this documentary that had the audacity to like your ignorant response!
