@Ryan Dahl Yeah the music is great, but would we have really needed Howard Stern? Like, especially in that episode with Dave Grohl a lot of people just thought Howard was annoying.
I'm sorry you lost your dad. I'm having this played at my funeral too. Never thought anyone else would think the same. I hope it meant something for everyone.
My 6th grade class sang this song at our elementary school graduation. Had the teachers known the song was actually about a bitter breakup they probably wouldn’t of let us sing it.
I feel like this song is the opposite of bitter... it's earnest and gracious. The output transcends the input in songs like these, vis-a-vis Billie may have had a bitter heart but he channelled it into something practically divine.
One of the best songs Billie Joe Armstrong has ever written I actually took this song in a different view not just a breakup the other two should’ve been singing lol
i'm glad it was just him singing cus he is green day..... heart & soul... EVEN THO HE WOULDN'T EVER GIVE UP ON HIS 2 BEST FRIENDS FOR ANY THING OR ANY WHERE....... I'VE SEEN & READ great interview's on him ( billy ) if u ever get to see & hear interview's u'll see & understand why he's not changed in all these awesome kick butt yrs.,..................
Time of Your Life, Good Riddance is one of the greatest written songs of all time. Throw in the melody and it's a timeless classic that my grand kids will know.
Again, I know I repeat myself! But THANK YOU to the entire Howard Stern Staff for the hardwork in finding and uploading these in studio performances. I love these!
lol this was uploaded right after I watch all the live performance of this song yesterday, probably 3am coz my brain was like "watch all the live performance of this song" and I was like "why?" and my brain says "you gotta."

I love seeing the throwback/vintage clips from the show sooo much! And I like how they include the year it was taped. I always calculate how old I was and if I remember listening to the song at that age. I was 12 in 98 & I loved this back then and still do. For some reason I thought I was even younger when I first heard it. Edit* I'm dumb. Lol I was younger when I first heard it. This song wasnt brand new when they played it for howard. Duuuh
Crazy how one song can mean so many different things to so many people!. If anyone can relate to your song.. that's when you know you've made a difference.
CHIT CHAT Howard stern always had some of the best live acoustic performances. Say what you will about his show, but he takes his musical guests serious
ill always love this song and it will always remind me of my grandma , she had this song played at her funeral , ironically it captured her as person perfectly 🩷
This song reminds me of my time in school, grew up listening to it and even my english teacher is a fan of this song , its good to remember the past sometime
i think this will be in my top 10 songs cause this meant alot to me in son many ways, the memories, making music when i was young, just growing up as a kid, and then greenday being the band who were real and still are to this day, thank you guys
I actually also kinda prefer this live version over the studio's one, cause it has the bitterness the song originally had and fits the style of other songs written during the dookie era, whereas the nimrod studio version has more of a nostalgic vibe with the cellos. But I like both and also that showed Billie's talent also applied on folk ballades.
I don't think Billie ever gets much credit for how consistently spot on his voice is even after all these years.
He is pitch perfect.
Actually sounds exactly the same
this is 1998....

Crazy how a show seen as “low brow” by many has some of the greatest time capsule performances by bands that shaped the 90’s.
So very true
The Howard stern show will always be one of the best look at that legacy now amazing
@Ryan Dahl Yeah the music is great, but would we have really needed Howard Stern? Like, especially in that episode with Dave Grohl a lot of people just thought Howard was annoying.
Ryan Dahl I teared up when I heard the Dont Look Back In Anger performance. So glad they’ve uploaded these.
Ryan Dahl black hole sun, and I kinda wish nirvana did come as you are
These older videos are so hard to watch without falling head first into memory lane.
Good and bad the memories are ours forever

terria 88 yes🥺🥺
Bob Dobalina good one
It could have released in any decade and it would have been a hit. Just a simple sounding perfectly constructed bitter sweet song.
Great song if it was released today it would be a hit.
Truly timeless
I dont think a lot of people realise how perfect a voice Billie Joe has. Always in key, always a rich tone. Amazing singer.
A criminally underrated vocalist
Damn. That’s good.
100%
Better than an underrated criminal vocalist :)
thank you
Billie’s voice is just amazing, the consistency is truly remarkable.
Even now so many years later he still sounds just the same.
And thats why Green Day will never come to Ecuador :(
:(
Andrés Granizo 😆
Why

How could three punks with eyeliner create an iconic song like this? A: talent, raw friggin talent!
because they're three punks with eyeliner.
Not to discredit his mates but Im thinking it may be mainly produced and written by Billy, but I may be totally wrong!!
Because your mind was formed to think that eyeliner=girl
Because… they didn’t wear eyeliner until about 6 years later 😂
So what? Times, they are a-changing?
My mom played this at my dad’s funeral. Enjoy your parents while they are here, kids.
Lost a parent too, at 14. It is really a bleeding message from the heart to tell others not to take it for granted.
I'm sorry you lost your dad. I'm having this played at my funeral too. Never thought anyone else would think the same. I hope it meant something for everyone.
WhyTheHorseface thanks for reminding me of that thank you very much :)
Make them proud.
WhyTheHorseface Im sorry for your loss 😢
His trembling /emotional / energetic voice totally surrounded and guided my all adolescence. Thank you GD
20 years laters, still love that song. Nice clip guys.
Thanks you too
Damn, such an iconic voice
too bad his technique has completely changed nowadays, he never does those folkish 3 note step downs and BJ accent.
@@VXXXRPXXXD Wow interesting!! Is it crazy that what came to my mind was Dylan after hearing 10 seconds of this??
Ye
Some of the best live performances occurred on the Howard Stern show. Wow. Loved this performance.
He's a pretty bad interviewer, from what I've seen but can't disagree with that!
Rude joke, rude joke... here we go, hurry and play that hit we all love. Winning formula I guess.
I wonder how many high schoolers graduated to this song?
count me in
Same here. And I laughed the whole time it was playing.

I actually miss being a teenager in the 90s
Same. I was born in 1980.
No kidding! Born in 84. I was a senior in high school when 9-11 happened and after that nothing was the same. I miss the 90’s!
So you guys have any life tips for me?
Born in 1981. Glad I lived through those times. Good music, the world was different...Something never to be repeated, but so damned glad was there.
Born 79. Gotta agree there
For a “hit the road chic” type of message this song actually has some great lyrical lines and a very memorable melody!

The classics will always stand the test of time.
This is the most favorite of Green Day songs.
This is a song about the truth of life.
The mood and energy shift the moment he starts singing damn!
I played this album so much in my grade 12 year of 99. Our grade class used this song as our walk out tune for our ceremony. Love Green Day.
Simply an all time classic. Beautiful in every way.
What a gem, love these old 90's recordings being dug up from Stern's vast archives for all to see. Keep'em coming!

Billy joe is underrated as a guitarist.
He is. But this song is very very easy to play. It's the first song I learned and been playing 20 years since .
I love how he plays it different than every guitar teacher ever teaches it ever :)

I would never reject Billie Joe! Love this song. Love Billie Joe. He never ages, may he sing forever.
I love how Billie Joe's talking voice has changed since Dookie and Nimrod, but his singing voice has not changed at all
I like that Seinfeld used this for The Clip Show.
His Voice is Awesome.
0:35 Billie Joe: "I don't wanna whine"
Also Billie Joe: "Do you have the time, to listen to me whine?"
My dad just passed away we hope to play this at his funeral
See, this is something I've always loved about Green Day: Their raw, natural talent.
Is this Green Day or Billie as Jesse Pinkman, Mike as Skinny Pete and Tré as Badger?
