I wish you would do a whole video on Stitch. I worked in the Stitch complex a couple summers ago and it was a total shit show. Half the seats were down for maintenance and were never fixed, the effects barely worked, the Stitch overlay was so lazy and the leftover AE stuff in the queue, preshow rooms, and show room were excuses as “AE easter eggs,” and one of my trainers who had been there since Alien Encounter told us that the parts used to build AE and Stitch were no longer manufactured, so maintenance’s upkeep was basically spit and duct tape keeping the whole thing together. The Stitch animatronic was super cute though (when he worked lol).

Probably the funniest thing I found to come out of Circle of Life (other than this 8:12 choice of image to speak against it, kudos) is when Joseph Gilland was talking about it on Facebook. Joseph was a Disney 2D effects animator who supervised all the effects in Lilo and Stitch and was a director in Vancouver for a few years. Then years later on his Facebook he pulled up a RUclips link that was a fandom crossover edit of Circle of Life and reaction clips from other cartoons and Joseph confused it for something Disney actually done with it.

I'm not doing an OML on Black Panther. I liked it a lot, but I'm not doing OMLs on EVERY MCU movie, just the ones that already have direct theme park tie-ins.

Unless you count the One Movie Later on Dead Men Tell No Tales. Since it's no longer the 50th anniversary, I wonder if he's even still planning to review them anymore in the near future?
I remember going on Alien Encounter in 1995 on a high school marching band competition trip to Orlando. It was an awesome ride. Sadly the gift shop sharp lasted longer than the ride.
I have vivid memories of my first trip to Disney World in 96, and I know I saw that 'Circle of Life' film, but for the life of me I can't remember a thing about it. It's the 'Step By Step' of Disney World attractions.
I went on Alien Encounter when I was a little kid, and it scared the shit out of me. When I got older and grew attached to horror movies and attractions, I wanted to go back on Alien Encounter to face my fear, only to see it replaced with the Stitch attraction. I wish the Stitch attraction would close permanently, I always thought he was annoying. Instead, replace that attraction with either a Wreck It Ralph attraction like you suggested, or a Star Wars attraction of some kind.
Who needs that Shrek 4-D ride anyway? DreamWorks just needs to re-release the DVD onto 3D Blu-Ray. The audience can just put it in a 3D Blu-Ray player, watch it on a 3D TV, and enjoy the ride at home.
The one time I experienced Stitch, the chemicals they used for his "onion breath" stuck to my shirt for the rest of the day and, much like cigarette smoke, only got less pleasant over time. Still and all, it's probably the most serendipitous and well-executed cosmetic reskinning of an existing ride, and it indeed had the most impressive animatronic they'd installed in forever. And really, Alien Encounter was always more of a Universal kind of attraction; full-on horror is a bad look for Disney. Or at least castle parks. If and when they decide to leverage their purchase of the _Alien_ franchise to restore it to its former gory, I hope they have the sense to relocate it to Hollywood Studios.

One time while we were riding "The Carousel of Progress" the 1920's father's arm structure snapped. But the hydraulics in it were fine so he kept gesturing with his arm with it's second elbow and it's the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in a Disney park. I'm not sure whether the Pirates auctioneer losing his head would be more or less nightmare inducing. On one hand it's his head and he's still talking because robot. On the other you're zipping though the scenes fairly quickly and not starting at the headless robot for five minutes.
though I've never seen Alien Encounter I'm not sure I would have liked it much either, sense it still had those over the shoulder "restraints" for the 3D sound, which I find really uncomfortable and even worse when Stitch is jumping on you (which I believe was also used in the original show to simulate a wing hitting you. Cause being hit in the shoulder is fun.) I also hated the coninuity errors (like Stitch referring to himself as such even though he isn't supposed to have met Lilo yet). I mean I know the average guest probably doesn't care about those things, but it bothered me. Really L&S deserved, and still does deserve a better attraction.
See, at least with Alien Encounter, you knew it was SUPPOSED to be horrifying and uncomfortable. Stitch was supposed to be a funny attraction, so the discomfort was completely out of place.
Saying Islands of Adventure was a better animal kingdom than animal kingdom, I can’t tell if that was irony or if you really don’t know about how “Lost Continent” came to be
Walt Disney Studios in Paris is re-theming the Rockin’ Rollercoaster into a Ironman ride, same with the stunt show (marvel theme) and their Tower of Tower is remaining as is at least if today’s newly release concept art is to believed.
Holy hell THAT MANY closed down that year? No wonder 2017 saw a bunch of new Theme Park channels spring up where the bulk of them are decrying other shut-down attractions!
6:13 I think I'm starting to understand why they won't build new crap it's probably cheaper to retheme 14: really? they closed that 15:44 I'm surprised that she's showing up on Once
In some causes a re theme can also seem like an obvious and even great idea (like the rumored Coco ride in the Mexico pavilion.) And sometimes there isn't room to build something from scratch, unfortunately.
yeah but Tony explained in the Epcot review that there is a shitload of space there on purpose because they thought they would have space for new stuff
yes but let's not forget they're spending billions of dollars on Star Wars land, so for the time being they probably are going to stick to rethemes or using existing space for the other attractions that open around the same time, lest we end up with another Shanghai incident. Also some attractions just lose interest from the mainstream. They aren't gonna keep a ride open for the five people that like it (*cough* Maelstrom *cough* )when they have a more profitable use for it that could reach a much larger audience. Theme Parks need to evolve and change in order to stay in business, whether people like it or not.
Re: Flock of Geese - Wait, "according to Anaheim police?" People reported this? Did cast members report it after 17 people complained, or those 17 guests call the cops on the geese? WTF California?!? I got pooped on by a bird waiting in line to ride the Fantasyland Skyway at WDW. Other than displaying my disgust the second it happened, I didn't complain to anyone because even as a child I knew. What's Disney going to do to fix this? Give me a Mickey Sticker? No. I kept my mouth shut on the subject and they STILL closed down the ride forever. Took them over a decade before they finally reopened it so that humans could now poop there. "We can help that birds poop there, but good news. Now you can too"
Too bad for Shrek, it was one of my favorites at that park. I do like Kung Fu Panda more, so I'm content with it being replaced. Is there a reason why all the 3D shows in the parks are being retired and being stripped of their theming? It happened to Muppet Vision, Captain EO, and It's Tough to be a Bug. Is it because their wait times are always so short it just makes sense to reduce the more expensive elements?
Perhaps, but the old Muppet Vision 3D Theater feels like a waste of space now. They still had animatronics, and special effects that leaped out of the screen! I don't think a 3D show by nature HAS to be less immersive than a simulator, however I do agree that IS the case for some of these shows. Shrek doesn't make too much effort to make the theater itself as immersive as the queue. And the only special effects was the Tinkerbell getting shot into the back of the attraction and a few chair jerks. However, I think Philharmagic and It's Tough to be a Bug were wonderfully themed and were very immersive. I'll admit it could be harder to make it as immersive as a simulator, but not quite impossible.
First of all, Great job on the video Tony! I agree that the one's we have currently are getting more outdated by the minute, we've had 3D for a long time and we recently added moving chairs, bubbles, splashes of water, smoke, and other special effects to regular movie theaters outside a theme park. However, instead of giving up on the concept all together I think that only leaves room for innovation and improvement. The one thing they had over Dbox is animatronics, which is nice but not much. Perhaps take a note from Universal's Terminator show and add even more live actors to the theater. (Not like Frozen though, oh gosh.) Stage shows are timeless~! Adding a 3D screen to play around with could be fun. It's just an idea, the glasses could potentially obscure what the actors are doing so maybe ya'll can come up with ways we can upgrade or come up with new 3D attractions with added elements! It'd be a shame to close a door on such a rich concept.
Yeah, it's a neat idea but they'd have to find a way to clean all those VR goggles. I doubt it could go through the same treatment as the 3D glasses do because of all the techy stuff.
How dare you criticise my dragons! Universal should have relocated them within the property, or put up a sound wall with the enterence moved to the Jurassic Park area, where it was when Potter was under construction. They could have added to the theme and made the soundwall look like a dragon den. I have been told that Universal didn't like that it let you see backstage Potter, and my response to that is "Ever heard of this thing called a tunnel? You have one on Hulk." I'm saying this as a coaster nerd that rode them for the first time ever a few days after the closing announcement was made. I absolutely LOVED both of those coasters, and I aggree with incrediblecoasters.com that getting rid of them was the worst decision in theme park history (however I actually WILL boycott Universal/Comcast over it by not seeing any of their movies through sources that give them money (as in theatres and stores selling the blu-rey, and should I want to see one I'll either Redbox rental or use pirate sites) and I already have all the coaster credits from Orlando so I have no need to return if I don't want to), as there were a million solutions to the issue of it being too close to Potter that Universal easily could have been able to afford that did not involve sending them to the scrapyard. Also, am I the only one that thinks omething isn't right about the official story as to why they stopped dueling in 2011, which took away popularity and eventually resulted in removal? Just think about it. After 11 years of operating with no notable problems, JK Rowling comes in to oversee what they are doing for Potter. She says she wants Dueling Dragons to be gone. Universal says they are too popular to remove, but aggrees to a retheme. Just ONE YEAR LATER, the accident that caused the decline in popularity and eventual removal happens. Something isn't right about that. I'm not saying JK Rowling planted the coin on the train, or told someone to do so, because what I know about her leads me to believe she would never do something like that. However, that doesn't mean that like every fandom, there was a Potterhead who had malicious intent, and didn't like having to look at Dueling Dragons every time they went to Universal. Oh, and by the way I'm pretty sure tests were done to see if it was possible to throw objects from one train to the other. They concluded that it wasn't, and it certainly wasn't possible for an object from one train to land in someone's eye on the other train.
I kinda view it on the same level as Stitch. I never QUITE agreed with the rest of the fandom that it was The Worst Thing Ever, but...yeah, it was pretty bad. It's a shame, too, because when I first heard about it I loved the idea and was really looking forward to seeing it (but then, I'm a huge Gilbert Gottfried fan). But in execution, yeah, it just sucked. It needed a better writer.
There are rumors of a Moana retheme, and while I'm fine with it (it makes much more sense that Under New Management did) I'm dreading what the other theme park fans might think if it ever becomes a reality.
At least the Guardians of the Galaxy ride looks cool, it’s even randomly generated. Also, there’s always Orlando to ride the Tower of Terror again, and people have said that _that’s_ the superior version.
I was really hoping it was going to be a Megamind ride. Megamind is an underrated movie that needs more love. Also...that Christopher Walken looking Trump animatronic. *shudders*
All over the world, theme parks are closing down. Only US style State Fairs and here in Australia, Metroolitan Shows with ZERO competition are guranteed survival. I live in Adelaide, SA, and our annual Adelaide Show has been in the Top 5 most financally vialable theme parks on the entire planet on 6 occasions since 2002. It was #2 in 2002 and #3 in 2003.
I know it's probably impossible but there's a small part of me hoping that if Stitch is really closed they replace it with their first vision of Alien Encounter with a fucking Xenomorph considering the whole deal with Fox. I know it won't happen given it's right across from a Monsters Inc. show but it'd be pretty cool if they did.
I think the main reason dragon challenge never had more than 10 minute queues was most likely because it no longer was Dulling. From what I have heard that was ultimately sealed the fate of the ride.
I mean, the "dueling" part was pretty much ruined before Harry Potter as it was actually not safe to have the rides run as close as they originally did, as some people were actually getting hurt.
@@brendanmilburn9067 actually was safe to do it, the only reason some people got hurt was because it’s very very stupid guests that didn’t put their loose articles in zip pockets or in lockers!! I mean if that hadn’t happened it might have still been operating today and dulling. Oh well I look forward to eventually giving Hagrid‘s motorcycle coaster a go.
If Universal needs some new rides, I think they should just take a page from Universal Japan and port over some of their Cool Japan rides. There’s got to be a market in the States for rides based on Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, and Attack on Titan, among others. Also, redo Figment with Jim Zub, who did the licensed Figment comic. It may be more “Steampunk crap,” but it’s very pretty Steampunk crap.

they didn't make the theater look like a Chinese Castle
Part 2 coming in December 2020
I’ve voluntarily went on stitches great escape twice and the animatronics are quite nice, but I can not say I will miss it.
7:53 this made me physically laugh super loud
Saying Islands of Adventure was a better animal kingdom than animal kingdom, I can’t tell if that was irony or if you really don’t know about how “Lost Continent” came to be
I've missed you. How did I miss these?
Stitch isn't Disney's most (*burp*) experience. No. Disney's most (*burp*) experience has to be Michael Eisner.....or Bob Chapek...
my money's on Eisner being the case.
On the plus side, I'll be glad to finally experience attractions based on Over the Hedge, Chicken Run and The Prince of Egypt!
And now we have to wait only 7 years for Part 2! I can´t wait! :)
Walt Disney Studios in Paris is re-theming the Rockin’ Rollercoaster into a Ironman ride, same with the stunt show (marvel theme) and their Tower of Tower is remaining as is at least if today’s newly release concept art is to believed.
16:48 What happened to Old Man Jerk after all these later years?
He wandered through the post-apocalypse for a while and eventually got eaten by gerbils.
Only on this watch did I notice the Todd Rundgren sample. You clever dog!
8:59 thats me on the right XD
Holy hell THAT MANY closed down that year?
No wonder 2017 saw a bunch of new Theme Park channels spring up where the bulk of them are decrying other shut-down attractions!
Omg i remember being in the park the first day they covered the castle in toilet paper and I was like wtf!
Well now, Shrek 4D is gonna be closed on BOTH coasts!
Me, everytime a new number pops up: Wishes? Wishes? Wishes?
(Wishes was just my favorite thing at the parks ever.)
Aw man...I completely overlooked it because I don't really consider fireworks shows attractions. Sorry bout that. Consider it an Honorary Mention.
A lot of people don't, so I'm not surprised. XD I just do for whatever reason.
6:13 I think I'm starting to understand why they won't build new crap it's probably cheaper to retheme
14: really? they closed that
15:44 I'm surprised that she's showing up on Once
And now that so many blockbusters are in theaters in 3D, the novelty has worn off.
Funny how you mention Wreck-It Ralph 2 in this video before I watched the trailer after.
I need your wise opinions again: What did you think of Tiki Room: Under New Management?
Especially because apart from the chicken, there really weren't too many birds in Moana.

At least the Guardians of the Galaxy ride looks cool, it’s even randomly generated. Also, there’s always Orlando to ride the Tower of Terror again, and people have said that _that’s_ the superior version.
He is so good with this stuff that is why he is my go to guy for theme park related stuff and also Disney.
11:05 - I think that was Dictator-OTUS Mr. Grump trying to let you know that he likes Shrek and doesn't want him to leave the swamp anytime soon...
When’s the next some jerk with a camera coming? Ps: can you do another year retrospective in honor of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s 20th anniversary?
Hey Tony Can You Do a Review of Kongfrontation at Universal Florida?
I was really hoping it was going to be a Megamind ride. Megamind is an underrated movie that needs more love. Also...that Christopher Walken looking Trump animatronic. *shudders*
Good morning Tony! Are you ready for Ralph Breaks the Internet?!? Super excited for it.
almost a year later and Stitch's great escape is STILL listed as TEMPORARILY CLOSED on their website
iHeart Gaming and Whose Line it’s officially gone
well then I guess whoever works on the Disney Parks website is pretty lazy
All over the world, theme parks are closing down. Only US style State Fairs and here in Australia, Metroolitan Shows with ZERO competition are guranteed survival. I live in Adelaide, SA, and our annual Adelaide Show has been in the Top 5 most financally vialable theme parks on the entire planet on 6 occasions since 2002. It was #2 in 2002 and #3 in 2003.
Oh...I remember going to #14 on the list with my grandpa. This makes me kinda sad :(
Wait... Disneyplace had a bird show? When? Where?! _How did I miss that?!_
Hey tony, sorry to hear about your missing future colon. 11:00 is insanely funny.
I know it's probably impossible but there's a small part of me hoping that if Stitch is really closed they replace it with their first vision of Alien Encounter with a fucking Xenomorph considering the whole deal with Fox. I know it won't happen given it's right across from a Monsters Inc. show but it'd be pretty cool if they did.
ezim93 Fingers crossed...
ezim93 That Fox deal could go belly up soon.
Tony, be careful what you say about Figment. Do you want what happened in the Shrek 4D review to happen again?
Uh oh, another "what the hell was that"! And Theodore fucking Rex?!?
It just felt right.
I wonder if you'll ever do a series around Knott's Berry Farm similar to what you did with the Universal Studios videos.
Geoff Roach I believe Doggans has first-dibs via Blitzstravafornia.
Holy shit, man! You did it! Hey ma, lookit! I’m on the video!
Thumbs up if only for the perfect TMBG song at the end. Just saw them live last month.
Nah, we’d still click on Top 14...Hell we’ve done a couple of your Top 11’s!
YES!!! FINALLY ANOTHER VIDEO!
