What Next For Fernando Alonso?

Alonso looks fitter and leaner now than he has in the past few years
You're right
No, Aston didn't 'show strong pace at the start of 2023, Alonso did... and Stroll as usual, didn't.
To be fair to him, he got a handful of p6s and p4 in Australia. When his hands were broken, he put in some decent drives (for lance).
@@ethanwatt-dz3xq you boys know what to do, brake some hands
@@victormiguelmontero136*break
stroll is having a great start to the season
Stroll did in... Bahrain. But then yeah.
Alonso could probably get a full-time seat in Indy Car. If he can't win another world championship, completing the triple-crown is likely his next highest goal.
probably?
As an Alonso fan, I prefer 100 times more the triple crown than him staying at F1 with mediocre cars.
Triple Crown would be soooo sick, as Alonso wouldn't just get the "Triple Crown Light" with a Monaco win required, but the _actual_ thing for which you need to be F1 world champion.
@@sebastianahrens2385 makes no sense to have the triple crown be two races and a championship
triple crown has to be monaco, indy500, le mans
there needs to be a new word for all 3 championships, maybe triple throne
He's not leaving anytime soon. And when he retires from F1 he will drive at the Dakar, maybe you will see him in the IndyCar as a 60 year old.
Given the fact Honda is joining in a couple years, I believe the best move for Alonso is to stay with Aston Martin. If all goes according to plan, 2026 might just be Alonso's best last chance to nab a title.
Agree, there's also the fact that neither Red Bull nor Mercedes see Alonso as part of their long-term future (they got Max and George respectively), while Aston Martin will likely be willing to treat him like a king for years to come (and their budget isn't small either).
I really don't see much of a chance that Alonso will still be there in 2026. Honda will want a Japanese driver there and Yuki has already got the green light. Then there's Ayumu Iwasa coming up as well. Alonso doesn't have a contract for 2026, I don't see him staying.
@@Croga Lawrence didn't put that much money and its not incompetent to have two medium to low drivers and his car. I bet he already said to Honda that they will not interferer with the sports of the team
@@ASJM91 I think you underestimate the power of politics in this sport. Next to that; Yuki is a pretty decent driver nowadays. I don't know if you saw what he did in Japan but some of those moves were pretty awesome.
I'm not sure Lawrence has much of a choice; if Alonso leaves I'm not sure anyone better than Yuki is willing to drive for him.
bro predicted the future.
I genuinely think that he should get that remaining Mercedes seat!
The fact that he is extracting so much out of that Aston Martin, makes me excited about what he could do even with a mid Merc car!
I think Alonso shouldn't go to Mercedes!
1) Mercedes is slightly better car right now, but it's not enough to be a significant upgrade to Aston!
2) Aston Martin brought in a new wind tunnel and have a new works deal with Honda, while Mercedes is in a downward trajectory!
3) Honda also said that they are willing to work with Alonso and the past is the past!
4) Alonso would only be a filler for Antonelli before Mercedes kicked him out to the curb! At Aston he has much more stability!
5) The number 1 status is garante at Aston Martin while at Mercedes whilst Alonso is certainly better than Russell, it would be harder to beat than Stroll!
6) Staying at Aston and going to Mercedes would both be project moves anyways, and as I mentioned earlier if the stays at Aston Martin he can reap the rewards if the project goes well, unlike at Mercedes where Antonelli reaps the rewards!
@@alvarorey9308alonslow would get schooled by Russell😂😂😂
So you’re basically saying alonso is too scared to go up against competitive teammates and you’re crying out ‘number one status’ when Alonso would get schooled as an excuse 😂😂
@@alvarorey9308so you’re basically saying alonslow can only do good against pay drivers 😂😂😂
He deserves the Red Bull seat
@@AZBCDEEoh look we found Lewis Hamilton’s burner account. Seriously, you’re such a baby. Do you even like F1? Literally all your comments across every single video are just about how much you hare Alonso. You have no life outside of hating an F1 driver; is that really the life you want to have?
Alonso is inevitable. Give him a good car and he will win. Jokes aside I think him and Verstappen at Red Bull would be the most amazing driver paring. Red bull is ruthless with drivers but Alonso is the one person that's more ruthless than Red Bull
Alonso and Max at red bull with someone chucking matches at them would be the most entertaining possible 25 storyline, but I think he'll end up at Merc, with Sainz going to red bull and Checo at AM.
You really think AM will have him back after dismissing him in his strongest season? That would definitely be a knee-bend on their part... I, personally, don't see that happen.
@@Croga Depends on who is available obviously, but assuming better options like Sainz and Alonso aren't on the table, they could do worse, they just wanted Seb more at the time rather than wanting rid of Checo.
Toto still regrets not getting Max in 2015 so he will give that seat now to Antonelli...let him get up to speed in 2025 (season already written off) and concentate for 2026
@@8tonystark8 I don't know about Antonelli. He's currently not doing all that well and seeing other rookies wrecking cars left and right, taking him on may be a very costly decission.
So mate why does Alonso bring drama? When did this actually happen after from 07’? Aside from some on track radio comments absolutely no different to any other driver he’s had no issues with a team or teammate since 07. Just media typecasting people latch onto and run with.
22 consecutive rookie seasons! Unreal record.
He can still drive for a few more years i think and stay at Aston until 2026 with new regs and see where they are
Cut to Fernando becoming an FIA official or something and just becoming a troll as per usual. I hope even if he’s not racing he sticks around as he’s always great to listen too.
my dream is papa stroll gentle parenting lance into wec and picking up sainz to have a sainz alonso line up but i also dreamed of ferarri challenging for the title after the first half of the season so im used to being let down. but in all seriousness i would love to be an aston fan and if they had that line up it would give them a great outlook for the future and an incredibly solid base to build off cause they would know without a doubt that their drivers arent going to be causing problems which would help development and when fernandos time is up they could take a little bit of risk on a younger driver because they would know that sainz will hold down the fort
Alonso Sainz or Alonso Tsunoda or Alonso Drugovich or really anything but Alonso Stroll

I'm from the Middle East... thank you for making fun of our tragedies...
Tbh, I’ve no idea where either Sainz or Alonso will end up in 2025.
The only thing that I’m certain of is Danny Ricardo not being in F1 next year.
I'd love 'nando to win a third , really would.
Love how your videos dont hang round, theyre straight into the deep dives. Great content.
Could we say that 00:05 joke is the bomb?
I think he knows AM will get a Japanese driver in 2025 due to the Honda deal.
so even if he has a seat for 2025, he probably thinks it's his last chance to get to another top team.
He’ll be back at Aston next year.
Its gonna be Spaniard battles i guess
Either Sainz or Alonso is getting rb or mer second seat
If he goes to merc then antonelli might go to Aston Martin
Surely Drugovich gets promoted?
He won’t. He’ll Antonelli will probably be at Mercedes by 2026 by then. Besides why would Aston Martin still a young talent from Mercedes when they have Felipe Drugovich lounging around?
Cause drugo is shit compared to kimi@@benjamindeloney
he'll be with AM's WEC team
finally one of your predictions didn't age like fine milk in the scorching Sahara sun
IMO, he's either staying at Aston Martin or going to Mercedes. Although I really do hope he wins a 3rd championship before he retires, because bro has been grinding in formula 1 since his last championship in 2005. It's been almost 20 years 😢
Psst, he won his last championship in ‘06 😉
Or He will go to Red Bull 😊
33.33% split between staying at Aston, leaving for Merc or retiring. Right now i'm swayed more to retiring because of what happened at Albert park.
He ain’t retiring he wants another win and definetky wants the 3rd title
I agree that antonelli should stay in f2 for an extra season or at least be a reserve driver for next year before taking a step up to f1. The first three weekends show that antonelli has good pace but he has made quite a bit of mistakes. In Saudi idk how he did not get a penalty, he was way to over aggressive going off in the first turn multiple times and even pushed Crawford off the track at one point.
If they throw him into a seat with his current form. There is a good chance he will have a similar f1 stint like vandoorne or for a current comparison Sargeant (but not as bad) has had.
Peak background music choice in your videos btw
Red bull
I think helmut gets the sack. Which causes verstappen to leave (to do what, I have absolutely no idea. Mercedes maybe? HyperCars? IRacing?) and Fernando takes the seat as a short term option to be eventually be replaced by Liam Lawson
honestly, the aston martin and merc cars at this point are about equal.
some tracks one does better than the other, and vice versa.
if nando went to merc, he should be more consistently ahead of jorgelina than hamilton.
that is to say, finishing the races in the 4-8 spots, ocassionally be on the podium
There is another option for Alonso and potentially Stroll. WEC considering Aston are entering the Valkyrie with Heart of Racing.
He's already won everything in the WEC including LeMans 2x. Not sure there's much he's interested in. I'd rather see that program for Lance.
He would go to indycar to try and complete the triple crown
@@F1dude. He only needs to endure the Indy 500, the rest of the joke series he can avoid.
Look at Ferrari stock price after Hamilton signed. Alsonso to RB makes sense.
I get the alonso to merc reasoning but i dont believe thats the best decision for merc at the moment as a whole.
I belive the best choice at the moment is to give the seat to albon and have a yoong and talented driver line up whilst also freeing up a seat at Williams for antonelli unless sargeant has already been kicked to the roadside.
This creates another george russel situation where kimi can acclimatize to f1 in a low to mid pack team and in two or three years if albon or russel leave the team or get booted for some particular reason it frees up the seat for antonelli to go to merc as a well established name in f1 and join the effort to bring Mercedes back to the front of the field.
I am definitely rooting for this scenario! Alex deserves to be in a top team. He was a victim of Max-teammateness (no one survives a pairing with Max) but overall he's a *bleeping* good driver.
Well done! You finally made an accurate prediction
About damn time!
@@FP1Willcome on, say he’s gonna win the championship next year…

He stays with AM. That Merc seat is Alex Albon’s.
Alonso to Williams 👀
Merc could use some more double DNF's, good plan
Vowles said there was a big driver signing happening within the next few weeks, and Williams won't be involved in it.
@@ryanchatham9971 what has he done to you to deserve that?
Ain’t no way Albon gets that seat
Fernando could push a haas to a podium finish, while giving driving lessons to the rest of the field. Besides he still gets a laugh out of using Jedi mind tricks, and throwing a Merc into the barriers. Probably because there wasn't a Ferrari around to mess with. He'll race.
Thank god you said he is joining AMR.
Now that will never happen.
He is either going to retire or join Redbull
Compulsory driver change ever few years and mix the entrainment up a bit.
Another very astute observation, Wil! At this point in his F1 career, time is no longer a friend to Alonso. While he still ranks among the best on the grid, he's reached an age where few teams will be willing to gamble on him for 2, or 3 years.
Most likely, he'll retire after driving for his current team. If he keeps himself in good shape... keeps outperforming his teammates... he might extend his contract by a year... and keep getting 1 year extensions, if everything remains the same.
There's an outside chance that if a top team loses a driver, they might offer him a 1 year contract, but only if they already have their eyes on another driver who won't be available until the following year. In such a case, if he drives the wheels off the car to regular podium finishes and race wins, they might pen another 1 year extension for him.
The odds are that by 2026, Alonso will have retired.
he is a very strong rookie, apeasing option for front runners
The opening line though 😅😅😅
@FP1Will what about the 5th option? Alonso joins Indycar and teams up with Stingray (Jesus) Rob.....
Yes please!
He said he wouldn't mind trying out the WEC Aston Martin program that is shaping up for next year, which is a nice "lol fuck you twice" to Alpine as it was the very reason he didn't stay in Alpine.
Doubt he will tho, not for 25.

WHATT AN OPENING LINE!!!!??!?!???!
Love the Ace Attorney Music
For me, alonso would stay for a final year in f1 with aston martin. I think maybe sainz will be getting the 2nd seat at redbull. There is no way max and alonso will be together. But if, and if only, likely not to happen, if max leaves redbull (why should he?) Then both alonso and sainz could end up there. Alonso to merc probably wont happen too, i dont know, i just cant see it happening.
he just signed with aston martin until 2026
So I was right! Makes a change
Your humour does make me laugh!
This one aged well 😂😂
Agree.
I genuinely believe the one thing that would push Alonso to Mercedes is the possibility of decisively beating George Russell, proving himself better than Lewis. Aston is the better option in all other ways.
I'm glad he didn't decide to go with Mercedes. In the short term that would be a sidegrade, and in the longterm that would be a downgrade since AMR are going up and Mercedes are going down. I wish Alonso to Red Bull could have happened. He probably decided to stick with AMR when he found out he was rejected by Red Bull. The reason Alonso to Red Bull would have been great is because of how adaptable Alonso is. His ability to drive difficult cars is matched only by Verstappen himself, so he would do better than anyone else as that other Red Bull driver. In fact, I think Red Bull made a mistake in not taking Red Bull (plus Alonso and Verstappen seem to get along).
I don’t see much in taking a potential sideways step to Mercedes. Given how much progress AM have made recently, I’d have more faith in them than Mercedes to continue developing. I’d hate to see Fernando move on and rock the boat somewhere else too. He’s one of the greats and just deserves to enjoy his last years with a competitive team and with a smile on his face.
Penske. He will drive for Penske.
Some minor yank team in a joke series?
Aston is great, sure, but I doubt they'll be world champions any time soon - at least not in 2025.
By the time they'll be fighting for a title, he'll be 45. I think he'll go for RedBull.
I thought as much us and UK love slacery
If he stays in F1, I think Merc is most likely. With Antonelli for the future they need a driver for 1 or 2 years, not for a longer term like Sainz
This guy already achieved so much he could be growing crops at home for the rest of his life and still be the sigma we all consider him to be.
Knowing Alonso's luck, no matter what team he joins, he will struggle there showing how good he is while the team faulters before finally retiring for what (probably isn't) the final time...
And then the team will become championship contenders from the first race of the following season.
Its not a matter of luck its a matter of who move the threads wanna let him win or not. We have more than enough evidence before.
One example was 2013 where ferrari managed to get better tyre usage then redbull complained and fia changed rules mid season and we saw the rest of the races redbull winning everything and ferrari losing that championship.
In brazil 2012 they let vettel pass in yellow flags.
In 2007 they did everything to not let him win that championship.
In modern f1 only win what fia wants, it stopped being a sport.
@@LtCommanderTato honestly, while I don't fully agree that the entire thing is rigged (since tbh, I think the fia isn't really collected enough to do that, or not just rig it for Ferrari in that case) I do agree that some slant absolutely screws teams constantly, even looking to 2022 with toto screaming until he got his technical directive... That ended up just screwing Ferrari and letting red bull run away.
I do wish that Alonso wasn't on the short end of the stick every time, though. It feels like he pissed off a spiteful god sometimes, looking back at all his team moves and shitty cars.
It's kinda absurd how someone with talent like his has just not been given the ride to use it in nearly... A decade? Almost two?
@@Ryzard He pissed off certain people in power who created Hamilton. Since Alonso didnt bow down to their plan of making him champion on his first season they hold a grudge for a lifetime.
The game is rigged, after the failure of 2007 they went to plan b and cooked slowly behind the scene a unbeatable mercedes car to statpad their product.
I’m thinking he will sign on through 2026
How is verstappen on the market?
He is human, other people have money. He is not seriously on the market. But right now surely some teams, not calling names like Mercedes, will have tried waving a huge bag of cash and Max would just say: yeah, well, fine, but your car is too slow.
Alonso to Wec so we can see him and Seb driving against each other and he will do indy 500 for the triple crown fr fr
I think they should call it Twix instead of twitter or X. However, I think the boys at Mars might take issue with that and start yelling the left sides better.
El plan
Nah, stay where he is. The growth is still there at aston martin next year, will be a full year of the new facilities being up and running, getting properly bedded in... the Honda engine is being proved to be a good engine via Red Bull and if the world endurance championship kicks off and the Aston martin WEC car is up and running then put stroll in and give alonso a better a team mate in sainz/albon/etc
i would have loved to see Alonso in a Ferrari Seat replacing Leclerc and keep Sainz
If he can't get a ride that will give him a chance at title #3 then he goes to INDYCAR. If he can't be a 3 time world champion he can still join Graham Hill and be only the second man to win the triple crown. He'll be special. He understands his place in racing history isn't particularly unique, he'll become just another 2 time world champion in 20 years. A triple crown changes his place in history, that's important to Fernando.
NHRA Top Fuel dragsters!
Simple, everyone is keeping open waiting on Max. If he said he's staying, Merc, Aston, Sainz and Alonzo would all be signed up. Kimi needs another F2 or Williams seat.
Hmm.... wonder when people will start listening to Max. Why should he leave Red Bull and which other team has a championship-level car?
Why would Max leave RB?!!
One comment for the algorithm because we all get drunk on saturday
Alonso in place of Perez for Redbull for 2 year contract!
Nah, Alonso's staying put!
My guess is he does nothing or retires. I doubt mercedes wants him over sainz and red bull won't take him unless the flying dutchmen signs off on it.
as i type this, there’s been a red flag in the Japanese GP. Will, you know what that means.
Red Bull: Only if Verstappen leaves (nope). Mercedes: Possible, while Antonelli gets his first couple of years at Williams. Aston: Natch. He could stay there. Alternatively, Piastri could join Red Bull and we could see Nando back at McLaren (lol) EDIT: I just figured it out, if that happened, it would be Lando & Nando. You just know Crofty would be even more insufferable than he usually is, saying that 78 times per session for the whole season.
Okay. Picture this;
-Alonso goes to Mercedes with a 1+1 year contract.
-He will race in those 2 years, and retires...
-...from racing, and replaces Toto Wolf as the team principle of Mercedes
That sounds to me like the most Alonso thing ever.
I still think he should take another crack at the Indy 500.
