I absolutely LOVE the saxophone solo at the beginning of the waltz section when it played "Here Comes Santa Claus!" Whoever was playing on that night was perfect in their execution; I've learned to match my humming to its distinctive timbre whenever I (re)listen to this. I played this as trumpet when I was a sophomore at university. The section gave me a chance to recollect my chops before the final section (I played second part)

I love this piece. The puns were inescapable:
      1. Hit the deck
      2. Up on the housetop, reindeer prowl
      3. Krampus is coming to town
      4. Grouchy old St. Nicholas + Sally's song from Nightmare Before Christmas
      5. Here lies Santa Claus + Shostakovich Waltz #2 from Jazz Suite
      6. Bring us some liver pudding
      7. For whom the silver bell tolls + Chim chim cheree from Mary Poppins
      8. Fleeing through the snow + Chim chim cheree from Mary Poppins
      9. Rudolph the red-eyed reindeer
      10. Hearse ride (maybe + traffic from American in Paris by Bernstein?)
10.5 Echo carol, the lost verse: Do you smell what I smell?
      11. Here we come a wassailing among the poison ivy
      12. Kalashnikov dance by Tchaikovsky's evil twin + Hit the deck, reprise
